I know nothing about this player. Has anyone compiled some metrics from this season? How does he stack up vs other PL midfielders, especially those we’ve been linked to?
We don’t need a no 6. We need well rounded players that work together.
If a team NEEDS a no 6, then given the amount of games we will playing, then we need two of them.
Which number 6 do you want us to buy then? Baleba isn't a proper holding midfielder either. Tchouameni is obviously the standout candidate, but also a long shot.
Small world. I wonder what she's told him about Manchester.Alex Scott is the step-brother of Maya Le Tissier.
Between Kobbie and Casemiro, we didn't have anyone playing specifically as a #6 either. No #6 among them.
I think if you use him as your deepest midfielder you lose a lot in the build up. Last season(the good one), from what I could see, he was at his best when he played more in a box-to-box role as well. Driving runs, using his physicality. Just don't think passing is his strength and a midfield two without at least one passer with enough range seems lackluster to me.I'm on the Baleba train, but I'd rather Tonali (not overly keen) than buying two midfielders + Ederson of whom none is a #6. Why is Baleba not a proper #6 in your view?

If you have players who are comfortable in deeper areas and can control the tempo of the game, you don't need someone just to sit in there.
What we need are players who are good at covering the ground (both Fernandes and Scott are better than 34 year old Casemiro at this) and possess good technical ability on the ball.

I also don't mind Tonali, but is he a sitting midfielder? The couple of times I watched Newcastle this season that doesn't seem to be his forte either. I know he played deeper back in Italy.
They're both from Guernsey, so in this case, it's literally tiny!Small world. I wonder what she's told him about Manchester.
Eh? What’s the issue here?So the same as Baleba and Fernandes then!
Same old shite!
It’s the 2nd June not 2nd September the club putting out feelers for a multitude of options rather than being shoehorned to one like the past and chasing them all summer in the correct way to go, peculiar statement. So the same as Baleba and Fernandes then!

I see a new thread has been made addressing pretty much this point so won't derail this thread too much with this talk. But I would much rather have 2 CMs capable of controlling the tempo (like Mainoo and Fernandes) than have a Baleba who's more of a carrier and physical presence.A player that tix the boxes for a #6 is not necessarily sitting deeper than the #8, but he'll have more defensive responsibility. Which is what Casemiro and Mainoo had, for the most part. Baleba can cover ground easily and he's a bull as well. He's fine progressing the ball and he can carry it too. He's not the passer from deep (hence my preference for Baleba and Wharton both) but if he's next to Mainoo we'll have two players who can receive the ball deep and carry it through. I also think his passing is better than what it is made out to be. Both can improve though (and Mainoo will need to improve in that respect and he should feel there is competition for places).
I addressed this point above, but on Tonali I think his quality in the position is situational awareness. He's a lot more mobile than Casemiro. But we're not linked to anyone close to what Casemiro offers defensively. Out of all the players linked, Baleba is the best ball winner, the best in covering vast spaces, and likely the strongest athlete (I am not including Tchouameni as that is a pipe dream).
Think he'll follow Iraola.
Semenyo on a podcast said Iraola never gives a day off. So maybe Scott wants a day off.Think he'll follow Iraola.
Yeah, I prefer going all in on stalking one perfect individual like Frenkie De Jong all summer rather than this approach we're now seeingSo the same as Baleba and Fernandes then!
Same old shite!
To be renamed Krapi if he doesKroupi off there as well
Then we can appropriately re-use the KRAP acronym - Keep Krapi At Pool"To be renamed Krapi if he does
I apologize since I don't have metrics to offer but my eye test from watching several Bournemouth matches this season.I know nothing about this player. Has anyone compiled some metrics from this season? How does he stack up vs other PL midfielders, especially those we’ve been linked to?
I think Mac Allister just suffered from what Casemiro had with Ten Hag, his midfield partners just abandoned him and left him to fend for himself.I think so too. Replace Mac Allister who's legs seem to have disappeared.
Dont think we need a dedicated 6. Having midfielders capable of winning, progressing and covering large spaces is what we generally need.Gut feeling is he is backup target to Fernandes, also people make a valid point about us lacking a proper 6
which is why you see us linked with Fernandes and Ederson....they're defensive minded but capable of carrying the ball forward, same iwth Alex ScottDont think we need a dedicated 6. Having midfielders capable of winning, progressing and covering large spaces is what we generally need.
I assume you’re keeping your powder dry here!!Then we can appropriately re-use the KRAP acronym - Keep Krapi At Pool
Not sure how they would perform defensively but the press resistance from he and Mainoo at the center of the pitch would be a joy to watch
Interesting. Looks above mid range when I’ve watched him tbhI can't be bothered to find it again, but someone not too long ago posted some press resistance stats of some PL midfielders on here (twitter links), and Scott's looked fairly mid-range, definitely not exceptional. He also was fairly keen on dribbling under pressure, as opposed to passing, which isn't ideal for a CM.
Jeesus wept, Mainoo is far from given to dominate the PL. if Anything Scott had actually at least as good season as Mainoo in a far inferior team.We need a 6 who can fill in as an 8...and a backup 8 who can fill in as a 6. Scott is more an 8 than a 6 and he'd be a fantastic addition to the squad, but would he want to be Mainoo's long term backup? Hard to imagine that, to be fair. He's only 22 and sees a long and glorious career ahead of him and Mainoo, who's only 21, is not only the clear first choice at 8, he's already the best 8 in the PL and will be for some time. But if Scott is willing to serve at OT as a squad man for us, sign him up!

His biggest weapon in his arsenal is his technical ability. UNREAL for his age IMO. Genuinely standout technical performances every single game I watch him in, and Iraola's side is already technical as is. His ability to maneuver through the press and lay off great passes over and over reminds me a lot of Darren Fletcher/Michael Carrick hybrid actually. I do think he's a bit more physical and willing to get stuck in than Fletcher, but his technical prowess at such a young age does remind me of him.
He's not a traditional 6, but like I said, he performs defensive duties off the ball for Bournemouth. He's still so young that he can be molded into whatever role that Carrick sees fits considering the player already has technical abilities, work rate, and physicality.
One thing I really do like about him to replace (a part of Casemiro at least) is his ability to score goals. He's got a mean long range shots and seems to consistently find the ball when Bournemouth has the ball. He does not shy away from taking his chances - something I think screams United's midfield of the old IMO.
Good grief. That what happens when you drink during the day.I assume you’re keeping your powder dry here!!
I love Mainoo. But if someone comes in and performs well and knocks him out of the team - so be it. Competition is extremely important.Jeesus wept, Mainoo is far from given to dominate the PL. if Anything Scott had actually at least as good season as Mainoo in a far inferior team.
Scott is can develop into anything as good as Mainoo. Mainoo overrating here is very painful even though he had a strong season, it was Casemiro who absolutely dominated very next to him, so it's a qquestion who can step up into our regular midfield due behind Bruno.
