Discuss his Inter performances in here.

What are your expectations and hopes for this one ?

If he can score goals with consistency it would be progress, don't think the old explosive Alexis will return but a change of country after five years in England can only help and he has played there before.

I think he will take Lautaro’s place. I am not convinced by Martinez and I think Alexis will be better playing in a more central position. Both Sanchez and Lukaku will benefit.

He will be shit just like he was at United.

When players are finished they're finished.

In my opinion he is finished in a wide position. Centrally he can still have an impact. We shall see though.

Is this the general Alexis Sanchez discussion thread now? Couldn't find one, only a player performance thread. Anyway...

He didn't know why he was dropped after playing shite for an hour. Discuss.

Sounds like coaches etc pussyfooting around him and not being honest and straight about how bad he was playing.

You'd imagine that happens a lot with former world class players who become shells of themselves.

Or sort of the inverse like with van Gaal and Rooney. I think he said something recently like 'yeah, I knew Rooney was past it, but he was basically the best I had in terms of experience etc'.

Every footballer in the world will believe they could have done better had they been kept on the pitch longer .

To single one footballer out for it is wrong

Very much can't see it myself, the pace and explosiveness that made him such a great player is gone.

"Sometimes I'd play 60 minutes, then I wouldn't play the next game and I didn't know why."

This the reason it didn't work, no regrets

Sigh, you are in no position dude to blame anyone but yourself for how you performed here but (given our luck) no doubt he will start like a house on fire and recapture his old form to play into the United are fecked narrative.

I really wouldn't bank on it.

He's lost what's made him great and it ain't coming back.

The Italian league might just suit his loss of pace. And with not so great defending he might get that little extra space.

I wouldn't put it pass him to better there esp against mid and lower level serie A teams

I would, the same was said about Torres but when a player is finished they're finished.

Also serie A may have declined as an overall league but it's still an excellent defensive one, even CR7s record looks more human.

Good to be constantly reassured that apart from being shite our players are also massively deluded.

Most footballers are deluded tbh, I'm not surprised by what he said. There is a fine line between confidence and delusion and players who were really good at one point and dropped off, tend to cross it very easily.

Guess that's true, it's just more apparent nowadays given the bigger platform they've got to prove to everybody around how fecking stupid they are.

Its common in all athletes.

Overestimating your own abilities is common across the population at large too. Most people rate themselves as above average drivers in studies when most people have to be average by definition. Its generally thought to be a helpful character trait though as it gives people confidence to preserver and a general sense of self esteem.

All it tells me is we were absolutely right to move him on despite us not having great depth in attack.

Is He forcing the move to be permanent? no coming back after those comments.
Yeah, I guess it was highly unlikely that he was coming back, regardless. Unless he performed miracles over there - even then, there’s probably some sort of admission that he might just be physically shot/not suited to the EPL anymore, better suited to Serie A etc.

I hope he does well and Inter are going to make the move permanent and will pay all of his wages from next season onwards.

It speaks of weak, disjointed leadership that a player was signed on massive wages, couldn't do what he was signed to do and the coaches couldn't/wouldn't be straight with him when he fell out of favour. Terrible signing and situation all-round, among the very worst in the PL if we're honest.

Obviously if he couldn't see why no-one was impressed with his 60 minutes he's past help.

Seen some Inter fans already questioning Lukakus touch and ability on the ball.

Interested to see how Sanchez gets on. I think he'll do much better playing centrally, but I still don't understand why Inter wanted him.

Man Utd will need to subsidize his wage until his current deal expire regardless. No one will offer Sanchez 350k/week.

Maybe because they think he will do better playing centrally?

Conte will whip him into shape in no time. Thought his physical condition here was all kinds of wrong and thats never a problem in Conte's sides.

How many players in his position have had a rebirth? It's rare for a world class player to have a significant dip and then recover to anywhere near what they were. Obvious examples like Shevchenko, Kaka, Torres. Can only think of Falcao at the moment who recovered to be a very useful player, albeit in France.

Does Pirlo count?
