Probably trying to pay udinese with some money sourced from somewhere else whilst the 40 million they claimed to have is earmarked for Fabregas

Well Madrid and Barca have been relying on bank loans for their spending (and their astronomical wage fees) the last few tears, the rumour is the banks don't want to give them anymore as Spain is teetering economically.

I thought it was the Spanish government who bankrolled Madrid, i am fairly certain during the time of the Galactico's that a Spanish politician claimed that it was deemed so vital for Madrid to remain a preeminant force in football that their debts would be covered by the Spanish Government.

Might be wrong but i am sure i remember something along those lines. At the time i remember thinking how must the rest of the Spanish teams feel about such preferrential treatment being shown to Madrid.

Nope the Spanish governement weren't, that stopped a long time ago, but they did have carte blanche for loans from banks and underhanded deals to keep them at the top. Perez himself is an incredibly powerful figure in Spain alone in the business world. He was able to force banks to loand money to Madrid or he'd threatn them with withdrawing his businesses from them.

Reports in Spain that Sanchez will sign for Barcelona on Friday. Gino Pozzo Jr. has said on the Catalan radio station RAC1 that an agreement between Barcelona and Udinese over the transfer of Alexis Sanchez has been reached.

A few formalities are still to be completed - however, Sanchez' agent is in Italy today (apparently to complete Arturo Vidal's transfer to Juventus as he is also his agent) and will fly to Barcelona on Friday.

I wonder how much debt Barca and Real are actually in and what exactly do they do with their profits, assuming of course they do make profits.

Oh it's guranteed he was going to Barca since he declared it the team he wanted to go to, ungrateful little shite.
He said he wanted to go to Barcelona, like Fabregas did last year, but it didn't mean that the deal was already in place, like the link suggested..

Besides, I think 27 million euros + variables is a good price for Barcelona. We thought it will be higher..

The fact that Barca are up to their necks in debt makes this signing even more sick. They're run like Real. They rack up the debt & then try find a cure somewhere down the line without gettin any hassle from UEFA etc..

Barca are something like €450m in debt. feck knows how much Real are in debt.. they keep these fugures quiet then the Bank of Madrid or the Community of Madrid bails them out again.

Our debt is annoying because it was the Glazers that accrued it by buyin us. Our club is run to perfection, yet Platini & the other cronies still use us & other Prem clubs as examples of badly run indebted football clubs.

Its hard for our teams to compete on this playin field, they buy who they want regardless of being massively in debt & no-one turns a blind eye... it'll be interestin to see what happens when the Financial Fair Play rules kick in.. sadly, it wont make any difference to Real or Barca - they're untocuhable it seems!

Buying both Sanchez and Fabregas for that kind of money is sick when you think about players like Torres leaving for 50 million euro.

I highly doubt they will get both Sanchez and Cesc this summer. I have a feeling they want to pay less for Cesc and next season will the last season Arsenal can demand what ever they want for him. Xavi is getting older and Barca are obviously eying Cesc to replace him. I don't think they are going to hurry and pay £40m for him and not use him much this season.

Guardiola has threatened to leave unless they get Fabregas this Summer. I'd be surprised if they bought Sanchez knowing they haven't the money for him too

They'll get both. They'll have the money. I'm just worried about them turning their attention to our Rafael next year.

Yeah but Rafael won't go anywhere without Fabio, and vice versa.

The benefits of twins.

Exactly, to level the playing field, we need our own TV deal.

BUt in doing so we destroy the domestic competitionb so it's not worth it. With the upcoming financial upheaval thats going to batter Spain, Barca and Real are already struggling to raise cash just to pay for the players on their books never mind signings, even with the personal TV deals they keep making deals for. Our system should work out for the best.

Spot on, as we have seen with the financial banking crisis you can only blow a bubble up so much before it pops.

When the Spanish bubble bursts there may be a few cut price bargains to be had.

They've probably factored the add ons into the coming season's budget rather than this one no?

The deal is in installments anyway. They're not paying the full €27m this Summer.

Sorry, but I simply fail to see how continually subsidising our ungrateful oppositions is in anyway a fair system.

It's not always about dominance, it's also about survival, and by keeping the league strong we guarantee our survival in the long term, there will never be any bails outs for English teams ala Spain so we need to insure the strength of the league to sell it to overseas markets where it is the most watched league in the world. By keeping it fair we will guarantee we have a product to sell. Spainish football is very fecked right now unless something drastic happens, the individual deals for Madrid and Barca have affectively killed of their league and guaranteed their supremacy. what happens when all the other clubs go bankrupt and close down, who do Barca and Madrid play then week in week out, each other. That would get boring very quick and then their own personal tv deals will dwindle. The pair of them then would start screaming for the European super League, then yeah,I'd be all for us doing our own tv deals. if the euro league didn't happen then Barca and Madrid would be fecked as well and at some point those owed would want paying.
