He just looks terrified to me. Nowhere near this level.

You can't keep playing bad keepers. They ruin everything. A good performance they'll turn into a draw. A middling performance they'll turn into a loss.

Yep.

For all the talk of systems and tactics, the goalkeepers are the biggest problem we have had.

It must be five years now of having a goalkeeper that can make a major mistake at any moment.

This season feels like its happened every other game.

No matter the performances if we had a decent keeper the situation this season would be so much better.

He had his best game for us yesterday, and still he should have saved the 2nd and 3rd goal. He is the worst keeper we have had for decades in United, and Amorim had all summer to find us a better keeper than Bayindir and Onana. Even Onana is much better than Bayindir, and we have sent him out on loan.

There are some decisions at United that seem completely mindless from the outside. Especially the fact that we haven't found a new first-choice goalkeeper during the summer break. That United has the clearly worst first-choice goalkeeper in the entire league shouldn't be possible.

Did Peter Crouch say we went into the season with 3 number twos? Fair.

The reality is that we seem to have promoted a keeper that hasn't been able to oust probably the worst keeper in the Premiership for the last two seasons to first choice, and bought some sort of £20 million long term project to sit in his place on the bench.

This and the midfield decision in the summer just boggle the mind, as it was so obvious it would cost us time and time again.

If we're going to play a ridiculously high line with the world's slowest human being as the last defender, then the gk can't be stuck in his own 6 yard box.
I agree, but it doesn't mean he's meant to come out at every long ball, certainly not the 1st goal. He'd have had to run past the forward to get to the ball. He has to do better in the second and the third was extremely poor. I don't thimk the third mattered cause we were never scoring in extra time. He did make 3 outstanding stops and handled set pieces quite well so overall he was about par (6/10).

Still will never be good enough but he's not the player to bash after yesterday

3 outstanding stops ? Our standards have fallen so far I genuinely don't even know which you're referring to

He's just a rubbish goalkeeper and always has been. His long distance passing has been better this season but his fundamentals are not that of a Premier League goalkeeper. Frustrating when pretty much everyone can see it except for the guy who picks the team, who will be sure to start him again next week.

Him and Onana have consistently been the worst goalkeepers I’ve seen in my time supporting United. If the Caf can predict before the match that he will have a hand in conceding at least one goal, it is mind boggling that Amorim can’t see it. It feels like career suicide at this stage!

I don’t think we’ve had a game this season where we haven’t conceded at least one goal from a goalie cock up. Even at the extremely amateur level I coach at, I know how demoralizing it is for the whole team and the coaches when your goalie lets one roll under his body or pushes it into his own net. It completely takes the wind out of your sails, heads invariably drop and it gives the opposition a boost. It is incredibly destructive to a team but to a defence especially. How can they possibly trust Bayindir!?

Whilst I remain convinced that Onana was up to no good with the vast array of howlers he let in, it is clear to see that Bayindir is just not good enough. It is bordering on cruel at this point that Amorim keeps on picking him.

The first goal was very hard for any goalkeeper to save (and we also seem to be going through a spell where the opposition score a worldie every other week…coincidence?) but there is that nagging feeling that he could’ve done better. We see it with the opposition goalkeepers all the time…narrow the angle, make yourself look big, do your best to try and put the striker off…Bayindir does none of this so of course the striker is going to be relaxed and feel like he has all the time in the world to smash one in!

The second and third goals are just not the type of goal that you see (or should see) many other Premier league goalkeepers conceding. You just don’t. If we had a goalkeeper from one of the top four or five teams in the league, we would undoubtably be further up the table. You don’t worry that every attack is likely to see a soft goal roll in, you play with a bit more freedom and then that breeds confidence, the team start to gain momentum and before you know it, we start looking like a completely different proposition. Continuing to play Bayindir is just an act of sabotage at this point. Soft goals are killing us!

TLDR Bayindir is never in a million years a PL goalie let alone a traditional United standard goalie and cannot continue to be picked if Amorim wants to start winning games to save his job!

Absolutely.

My local team who I've played for all my life. We lost our very good keeper about 5 years ago - barely anything else changed, other than us all slowly getting older - and immediately went from winning leagues & cups every year to mid table at best.

The only guy we've had since is a lovely fella, but the worst keeper I've ever seen. If we concede a shot on target there's a ~75% chance it's a goal, maybe higher, and we all have that in the back of our minds through each game.

It's an absolute negativity force multiplier. You can't feel confident in a narrow lead, even if you're controlling the game. You can't chase a game properly as you need to leave so much protection back at all times, it's just awful.

Why Amorim hasn't at least given Lammens a run out I'm not sure. Settling in is one thing, but he's a professional footballer we paid £20m for. He HAS to be better than Bayindir.. and at the very least he won't have the negative Aura from the get go.

Fine, very good stops then, or do you disagree with that? I literally said performance was 6 at best and he's nto good enough, but any chance to shit on your team and our players ay?

I honestly don't remember him making anything other than bog standard saves, pushing a cross back in to play for their second goal and getting nowhere near the 3rd which was straight down the middle.

Prior to their second he made two really good stops then another in second half when it was 2-1.

Anyway, I don't care enough about this keeper to be defending him as much so I'll dip after this comment.

He’s the definition of unreliable, all I want from a goalkeeper is to just make the basic saves and not feck up which he seems totally incapable of. He will pull off miracle saves and then just follow it up letting in a goal that no half decent goalkeeper would ever concede.

Unfortunately we are stuck with him for the rest of season, January is notoriously hard to get good players in and it’s probably even harder for goalkeepers, and Lammens is a long term project seemingly.

Maybe it’s power play by Amorim? If he wanted another keeper (but hierarchy overruled him and bought Lammens), he could keep Lammens on the bench just to make a statement to hierarchy, not on merit

I'm not convinced he can kick a ball properly either.

But it's weirdly been quite refreshing because nobody really has any idea what direction his clearance is about to go. It's thrown something random in there at least.

Madness if so.

I expect him to start at Sunderland after the Brentford performance - if he doesn't then something like this seems most likely. Or, he's literally trying to get sacked.

Sounds daft to say, but £12million reasons to do so is pretty good motivation.

Not a patch on Dean Henderson.

Bayindir isnt as horrendous as he looks. He's mediocre and a serviceable 2nd choice keeper, but he's better than Onana. He's weak as piss and doesnt command his area, but he's like Roy Carroll who went about 50 games unbeaten in a United shirt. If we were battering teams, his weaknesses wouldnt be seen as much. Where as keepers like Onana could throw away a 2-0 lead in seconds.

Not that I'm sticking up for Bayindir. As I say in the bad times he doesnt help us at all. But he could be a second choice keeper no problem.

Peter 'My Wife is Abbey fecking Clancy' Crouch is the wisest man in football and nobody can tell me otherwise.

Keepers make these sort of mistakes every game. Even Brentford keeper was weak af and that was a bigger mistake than Bayandir's. The problem is what we do before and after a keeper makes a mistake. Shaw should be ahead of his man for the 2nd, the amount of space we gave for the third goal was unacceptable as well.

I wish people see the bigger picture instead of blaming one or two players incessantly every week.

I think the persistent playing of Bayinder is a bit of a two finger salute from Amorim to the board for bringing in an untested keeper. Be interesting to see does it continue. I've no idea if Lammens is good enough but the recent noise from the club is that Amorim still wants a keeper next year.

One of his saves was world- class, and some decent ones too, but blunder on the last goal. Second maybe questionable. Lemmens will be rightly eased in, but you can see that Bayindir could improve by simply playing. Big question marks over Lemmens ability to hit the ground running from Belgian league, but let's hope he's a strong character and wont crumble under pressure easily.

IMHO now is a good time for switch, home game, the team needs a change, after bayindir made a clear mistake (on the third goal) it will not be undeserved.

We are still gambling as feck, looking at our GK situation. Manchester United dear god.

Not even good enough to be a number two here. That third goal was so poor it was beyond belief.

It shows how bad Onana was that this guy is getting a small bit of praise. Even on bbc they said that we’d have conceded more without him, which I guess is technically true. If we literally didn’t have a keeper standing in the middle of the goal we would have conceded more, but you’re right, it’s been very standard saves.
