Alvaro Arbeloa | Fulham Manager

Vini was our best player throughout the CL, was the most important player on the team throughout the KO stages from the QF. Our best player against City, Bayern and then scored in the final as well

I don't think we should ever have signed Mbappé. I also think he's a player that chains you to him from a tactical/squad building point, similar to Messi and late-career Cristiano, but I don't think he's quite good enough to deserve having the team built around him anymore
You don't think Mbappe now is comparable to 2016-2018 CR7?

If anything, I'd argue Mbappe is better than that Ronaldo version individually quite clearly.

Cristiano was a consistent game winner in CL. Mbappé has yet to produce the goods to that level, for us or in the last season for PSG either

He scored the opening goals in both legs of the tie against Roma then the hat trick to turn Wolfsburg around. In 16/17 he scored 5 against Bayern, 3 against Atleti and 2 against Juventus. 17/18 he had 3 against PSG, 4 against Juventus

Mbappé has won ties too, just not with enough consistency

Cristiano also played with a much better side.

Your entire back 4 and midfield 3 from that 3-peat would walk into today's side.

Isco in 2016-2017 is arguably better than Jude Bellingham.

Discounting Mbappe for argument's sake, the only player from today's team that gets into that XI is Courtois.

Vini the team player, as usual

That's a terrible example. Not only this is something that happens more often than not but Bellingham wasn't particularly well placed and finding him was pretty difficult since there is one Bayern player in the way, Vinicius isn't in full control of the ball and if he eventually is other Bayern defenders can easily cover Bellingham. Bellingham is being whiny for no good reason.

+1

Not a fan of Vini, but at no point here is there an opportunity to find Bellingham…who proceeds to have a breakdown. Perhaps he should have made a better run to actually help Vini in this scenario

Perhaps this entitlement is why Tuchel is overlooking him. It’s been noticeable for a long time. That said, despite his attitude, he did have a good game yday

People make too much of it. Players do it all the time
Yes but there's a still picture with a magnifying glass and a picture of Casillas looking serious so it MUST be true.

If we let go of Rashford & Garnacho & Samcho for Attitude then going for Vini Jnr is a mistake.

I kind of wanted Rodrygo instead anyway.

Think he has proven enough in multiple positions thar he can be great in his best position.

Think plenty of teams would be happy to actually, he's still a top 10 player in the world

clubs are paying stupid money for Wirtz mate

I honestly would sell Mbappé if that was a possibility, but it isn't, and he is an extraordinary player(and our best player individually, clearly)

He left on a free to go to Barcelona and is an arsehole. He hates Madrid and is hated by Madrid. Not happening
Despite his past, I’m quite drawn to the idea of Luis Enrique, and I think he might like it too. Who would you bring in as coach?

Xabi Alonso, I'm still pissed about his sacking

Therotically how would Luis Enrique football work at Madrid ? They refused to listen to Alonso, why would they do all the off the ball running, pressing that his football demands? Could you really see vini tracking a winger all the way back to his own area as Kasha does for PSG?

Will be interesting to see who Madrid do appoint this summer. Two seasons and no trophies. Two huge egos upfront who don't work together well.

They need a man manager (Ancelotti type) rather a coach manager (Alonso type). Thing is allegri is at Milan now. Who are the good options for Madrid ?

Arbeloa has done well imo. The team went out fighting vs bayern and he has maintained 2nd in ll. Obviously madrid expect more but united prove how hard these jobs are. Him staying wouldn't be the worst. If they do replace him then Zidane would be excellent imo. Or is he not interested or going elsewhere?

Edit there is talk of France nt. I prefer Zidane in club football.

I read Allegri’s future is up in the air. Also fallen out with Zlatan at the club

Straightfowardly posting random shit tweets with lengthy obvious fake quotes should be a warning, and eventually a ban, in my opninion

There are no 100% guarantees, but he has already managed to instill defensive effort at PSG and brings prior experience from Barsa.
As for the new manager, beyond handling star players, I think he’ll also have to navigate the chaotic period that is expected once Florentino leaves. I don’t think it will take long, and even if he tries to leave everything well organized, there will likely be instability once he is gone. That might be why the idea of Luis Enrique doesn’t fully fit, even if it’s exciting for the fans.

As you said, a different profile seems more suitable, perhaps a more experienced and established manager. Setting aside Klopp and Deschamps, my choice would be Ernesto Valverde.

A lot of these rumors sound to me like trial balloons or journalists clinging to any possibility. I don't think firsthand information would be revealed that easily. But as @Iker Quesadillas says, as a potential coach, it makes sense to me that he's at least being considered.

To me it seems like an attempt to bring the players in line. "Win your matches or we hire the bad [racist] man"

Flo has pulled similar shit whenever we've been in these type of situations

They're out of Copa del Rey, out of CL and won't win La Liga. They wouldn't be in worse position than that if they kept Xabi.

Mourinho is a plausible rumor because RM are extremely backward-thinking and lazy about managers these days. I can totally see them considering something that once worked over an entirely new thing. I mean we just saw them sack Alonso over the deluded belief that they were replaying 2016.

I doubt it would actually be Mourinho, but I think it's gonna be someone whose best days are behind them.

Give it to Ole!

I won't be Mourinho, he burned that bridge when he attacked Vini after Prestianni's abuse. If we hire Mou half this team is out the door the following day, beginning with Mbappé

That said, your point isn't wrong....
Max Allegri.
....and this is actually a very realistic name

Rudiger slapping a member of Real Madrid coaching staff. Unacceptable. Club should fine him and drop him.

That video is from September 2024.

Even if it is, what the feck? Did I just miss the backlash after that? Hard to believe since the German public loves hating on Rüdiger. That's honestly crazy footage

I would seriously celebrate if Nagelsmann would leave Rüdiger at home for the WC. But, alas...
