Even in a cameo coming back from injury, you can see his sheer class.

Should have got a foul/free kick on the edge of the box too but ref gave them a pity non-call.

Very nice to have him back, interesting that he was subbed on as a WB, maybe that is where Amorim will look to use him long term. Dorgu LWB, Amad RWB with Garnaco and Cunha as the 10s.
Add in a good CF and that looks like a much better attacking line up.

3 league games + 1 Europa game left before potential final. Hopefully he'll be getting back into form in those games.

Good cameo which is important to see after he was out for 2 and a half months.

Will be so good to have someone else capable of beating a man, and comfortable taking the ball in any situation. Missed him

Looked far sharper than I thought he would. Hope he can stay fit, will make a huge difference in the final.

We’ve missed his intensity, easy to forget how good the kid is.

Would like to see him RWB rest of season all the way until the final.

Within minutes of him coming on I couldn't help but think his dribbling ability just looks on another planet to the rest of our players.

This. Just how he moved with the ball, so comforting

A huge bonus to have him back. If he is fit and straight into form then it's a massive boost to our chances of winning the Europa

Really glad to see him back and slotting right back into action without much trouble.

Incredible contrast between Amad and the others last night.

The ease with which he took the ball and glided past players was in total contrast to every other attacking player.

Levels above. A sobering reminder of how far we have let standards slip: we have convinced ourselves that others who played that role in his absence were performing well.

Felt like that day you go from thinking the best kids in your class are top players, to watching a county level team and realising what I thought was good was average.

Glad to have Amad back. Could be the difference maker in our Europa League push.

He is one of those players whose quality is apparent just from the way he moves with the ball. You don't actually need to watch a whole match or see his end product. It reminds me of Fergie talking about seeing Giggs for the first time as a kid, 'like a cocker spaniel chasing a piece of silver paper in the wind'. Something in the actual quality of his movement and way with the ball.

And I hate to say it, but Amad really is reminiscent of Messi in style of play. That combination of pace, of beating your man using feint rather than tricks, of being able to ride a tackle if the defender does lay a foot on the ball, and the very close control. Plus the quickness of thought, always capable of releasing a pass even when he's mid-dribble in very tight spaces.

Interestingly Zirkzee said the players call him the Ivorian Messi because in training, you just can't take the ball off him.

It does make me wonder about EtH's thinking, but ah well, got him in the side in the end

He immediately looked sharp, quick and a massive upgrade at RWB after months out.

United have been managing players returns very well.

Let's hope he's ready for a potential final

Players with an ounce of dribbling and close control ability always stand out here compared to everyone else now because we generally have so few players capable of dribbling and playing in tight spaces playing for us.

It's why Januzaj was a revelation in Moyes' disaster season. It's why Martial FC became a thing. It's why Amad, on top of the big goals he's scored the past year, has become a fan favourite.

More of them please.

If we do manage to bag Cunha ...

So good seeing him come back, just oozes class. So so good on the ball, we really missed him. Hopefully won't need him to play much in the next few games, get him ready for the big match.

Man like Amad ehh. Astounded by the early doubters on this guy and im still rolling that EtH didnt fully utilize him. Your post actually highlights why there is probably no room in this squad for mason mount. Amad is a prestigious talent and the fact that he operates 2 positions seamlessly only adds to our depth of on field options. Pleased to have our starboy back!

I'm convinced Teny was a massive Liverpool fan

Buying and playing Antony ahead of him has to be the greatest hatchet job of all time

Can't remember where I heard this, think it was from a MU podcast I frequently listen to, but anyways. The reasoning behind ETHs "non inclusion" of Amad was his height and size... which is just stupid, because when you see him play and how he plays, his height and size is not a problem at all.

Him and Shaw with their immaculate touches, buy you so much margin for error. You can safely ping the ball towards him, and you know he's going to take it down even if it's a bit off target or over hit.

The funny thing is, even if a bad balls hit towards him players are still a bit afraid of diving into him incase he skins them. I think that sort of margin and confidence he gives his team mates is invaluable

And then he preferred to go spunk 100m on Antony. Lord help me.

I missed watching this baller. Even after months out, he looked really sharp.

Great to see him back.

We've gone months with basically only Bruno who was a semi reliable goal threat. Amad coming back gives us more goals on the pitch. Could be crucial in the EL.

Baffling because Martinez is around the same size and actually plays in a position where height and size is important.

I think it might be more that playing Amad would highlight that his big money signing, Antony was a complete dud. He needed to persist with Antony and hope he turned it around?

It does seem utterly ridiculous to have this bright, energetic, quality player in the squad and barely give him a sniff.

I've always felt that that transfer was very sketchy... OGS himself said that they scouted Antony and determined that he wasnt worth more than £30m and people working at MU must have had that info still when ETH took over and yet we ended up paying so much.

Yeah but baffling and ETH go hand in hand. The man made so many stupid decisions while manager for us.

Wrt 'physicality' (speed, strength, size etc.) EtH probably did the most baffling/infuriating thing ever....i recall an interview with him before he joined us, about Pep's first season "struggles" in the EPL and EtH cited Pep probably underestimating the speed and physicality of the premier league and needing a season to adjust.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...-reveals-Pep-Guardiola-struggled-England.html

That was back in 2020...and yet, even having that type of insight into the league, look who this turd went on to sign and in the process absolutely set us back years.

Anyhow, sorry to derail the thread. As you say, EtH and 'baffling' at the end of the day, went hand in hand.

Makes no sense considering that Antony ain't much taller and is small built.

I suspect it was to sacrifice amad considering that he just spent 80million quid on Antony.
