Without full context, if the fan insulted his mum I can understand why he got angry and reacted. That being said as a professional for Man Utd he has to conduct himself in the right way and shouldn't have let it happen. I don't think it's a huge issue but the club should give him a fine for unprofessional conduct and then move on.

Yeah. Whether people regret or not when doing something, is all subjective. It should be whether they should or shouldn't do it that matters.

You have to wonder why a fan would randomly insult his mum. Seems very odd.

The entirety of Old Trafford was calling Foden's mother a slag a couple of months so we can't say much next season when fans try to wind him up with mother insults.

Edit: As Clone mentioned above.

Whether or not it’s ok for fans to slag off players families is a separate issue. I would say probably not but there’s a degree of slagging that comes with football being tribal. And the fact it’s so tribal is why it’s so popular and why players like Foden are multi millionaires.

Whatever, if you do say mean shit to footballers then don’t run crying to Twitter if they (shock, horror) flip you the bird. And definitely don’t get offended on behalf of some other eejit who wound a footballer up in the first place. This whole saga feels like it’s down to a lack of big boy pants all round.

Malaysia is a football crazy nation with mostly made of ManUtd and Liverpool fans. As you can see in the video, manutd fans were on the other side, the flip probably directed towards abusive ABU & oppo fans. Non issue, we all will do the same.

Seen the full vid with sound, Amad literally already giving the finger 0.05 seconds coming down from the bus. Crowd were cheering "Amad, Amad.". Not sure which or where his mom was insulted there. Maybe he heard something we didn't?

Edit: Not allowed to post links but its on TikTok by the username @ahmdhakimi. Amad is on the 1:00 minute mark.

Yeah I find it kind of hard to believe he heard an insult through all that noise immediately after stepping off the bus. Seems like he was just being a stroppy kid and is manufacturing an excuse.

That said, I don't really care.

I'm sure I read something about this fan using his last name Traore which he considers an insult to his mother? Weird reaction if 99% of people there were chanting Amad

Rockstars are flipping people off week in week out and they're worshipped
A footballer's mum was insulted, he reacted strongly in an isolated incident, and we're shocked
We can look at vids but what if the insult began much earlier when he was still on the bus so when he came down he gave his reaction? there's no smoke without fire with this lad. He endured Sunderland just fine so chances are it's not him and he told the truth

I think a reasonable explanation is that some fans (who didn't know his personal background) call him by Diallo/ Traore and he perceived it as an insult?

Amazing two newbies come to this thread with less than 100 posts each, in sequence of each other, and come out with the exact same conspiracy theory that Amad is lying and was not abused. They proceed to question his character.

I call BS.

Or you know, you could just watch the video? Plus there many more pics of Amad and Ganarcho flipping the bird throughout the Malaysian tour not just this incident.

Just seen this too now. He might not have even been throwing a strop, it could be some sort of in-joke they have going. Either way, he's not been shown to be a troublemaker before so I don't think it matters.

Imagine if it was Sancho doing that!

Yeah not hating on Amad, just two lads being silly but could easily be misinterpreted by fans in another country. Anyways lets just focus on the performance in the performance thread

I couldn’t care less about him sticking the finger up.

Day trippers abusing him. Why do they deserve his respect.

I don't think there's been any abuse of him?

He had his finger up as he was exiting the bus, with his headphones in. There's several other phots of him/Garnacho with their finger up on this "tour". Whatever it is, it appears to be a "thing" for the two.

Garnacho can feck off for being a petulant brat, but expected better of Amad.

Did someone abuse him on the pitch as well?

Swearing in pictures is stupid. It's not a gen z thing that's suddenly cool. It was always happening even decades ago by a subset of kids who thought they were badbois.

Theres a much bigger proportion of youth that don't do that, so it certainly isn't a normal or standard pose.

He apologized about it so lets move on hope next time this things don’t happen again

It gets mention a lot on the forum, but which games are fans referring to when they say his best performances have come at RWB?

I can’t ever remember him starting multiple games in a row at RWB and finishing the match at RWB.

If the main example is at Home to relegation fodder Southampton, when he scored a hat-trick in the dying minutes, then I don’t think that sort a match should outweigh the many more times he played RW and performed well.

Just wonder where the idea he is suddenly going to be the starting RWB next season is coming from?

Well he got 4 goals and 4 assists at RWB in 10 games so you can understand why they stand out. The other thing is he fits how Amorim likes his wing backs to play compared to our other options.

I do expect he'll continue to rotate between the positions. Start him there for the games we should dominate.

Thanks for the answer, do you have the games? totally fine if you can't be arsed.

But it would be great to see the run of matches to remind my aging brain...Also if Amad scored 3 of those goals in 1 game against Southampton and the 1 goal in the other 9 it isn't much of a flex.

They all count, can't recall which game his other goal came in. He nabbed assists in Amorim's first few games, Ipswich Chelsea and Everton maybe.

As I said it's less about where he's better and more does anyone else satisfy the RWB role. Dalot and Maz won't ever be anything more than serviceable there.

Probably this one. Everything you want from a wing back that game, tenacious, taking players on and good composure. Wouldn't just look at the stats but how he contributed this game.

I slightly prefer him at wing back. It feels like he has more room to work with when attacking.

There are drawbacks as games where we are under pressure he can feel a bit wasted spending a lot of energy defending. Even in those games though it feels like having him a bit deeper can help us get forward.

Nice, I have to admit I can't remember the Everton match at all, a quick look at the starting eleven and it was Bruno and Rashford behind Zirkzee, with Amad at WB.

Fair enough, it defiantly an option to play him there, even more so for the games at Old Trafford.

As Amad ever come out and mentioned anything about not being happy with playing RWB? I’m just thinking if we sign Mbuemo and put Amad RWB then we’ll have such an attacking threat on that side but what if the player doesn’t actually want to play that position. Could cause unrest… we’ve seen it before where players don’t like certain positions.

Then he should prove that he is better than other option. At this moment no one in team should feel that they have some kind of monopoly of any position in the team

A lot of people think he’s a 10 purely because he’s small and technical, it’s the same with Sancho but it’s far from the truth. His best plays have come from the touchline, he’s a touchline winger that can go in and outside. He shouldn’t be playing RWB in general but unfortunately will be forced to do that under this manager who hopefully we don’t see after November

He seems to have a great attitude from everything I've seen so far. I wouldn't worry about it next season at least.

How many wingers want to play in defence? Not many, I'm guessing. People keep flippantly placing him as a wing back, yet I never see anyone actually considering if he can defend at all. It's like that doesn't actually matter and you can just chuck anyone in there.

He's tiny and not exactly strong. He got absolutely brushed aside against Palace (I think - all our home defeats are merging into one) and we'd risk getting absolutely destroyed against good wingers.

Wing back is a specialist position, I can't see Amad being the guy to do that long term.

Ye I get your point. He’d be a good option there against the weaker teams and teams we should be dominating. But like you said we’d probably get rinsed against the better teams with better wingers. That’s probably where we rotate and put Dalot in there

Another one that’s not got over the fact Amorim will be here and starting the season with us. And it’s quite sad you’d want him gone by November as that means you want the team to be doing Awful. What a terrible fan

Why would we hope to have a shit start to the season and hope to sack another manager....

Wing back with Mazraoui at RCB is really more like a normal RM role in a 4-4-2. He'll be fine. Yeah during some games we'll go Dalot instead of Amad, but Amorim has called that a winger role quite often and he wants that position to push forward lots more than what we saw.
