Amad is a much better player.
Played this season no better than Garnacho did last so far. The sample set for Amads good games in the attacking positions for United is not large either. I think he is more talented than Garnacho

He is a far bit better than Garnacho at pressing/winning the ball, at least.

I would say they "only" are happy to read the positive comments and feedback about them as clearly negative comments starts skating dangerously close to them being offended.

Yes, some criticism veers towards vile but as an analogy, would you (SHOULD you) be bothered if someone who lives 5 streets away from you, someone you don't know, is calling you vile names? If I didn't know them and they weren't ANY part of my life or social circle then I wouldn't even want to know what they were saying about me.

I'm guessing your experience of racism directed towards you or friends/family is nil. Hopefully it's at least nil in the other direction too but people don't get upset about it because they're whining babies, they get upset about it because it's a pervasive part of their lives and is a massive problem for everyone.

Ok my take on this is that United fans on social media are becoming unbelievably toxic. Amad’s getting singled out week after week, even though he’s rarely played in his best position. Making him the scapegoat just doesn’t make sense.

Take this match. The first chance people are upset about came from his own pressing.. he chased a lost cause, won it back like he did so often last season, and then played the pass. Could he have released it first time? Yes ofcourse. But that’s not selfishness which he is being called out for - also it isn't a gilt edged opportunity for Sesko as people are making out. And on the scissor-kick chance, what’s he realistically supposed to do? Cunha jumps in front of him, he barely sees the ball. Expecting a settled touch there feels incredibly harsh. He takes a shot and doesn't connect - happens all the time in football.

Overall, it was a decent performance, but nowhere near his best but also not nowhere near the level of criticism he’s getting. If a player’s running himself into the ground to press and create, that’s not a mentality problem. We should be backing talented players, not tearing them down. We've done this before to talented players and completely destroyed them. Martial, Rashford, Garnacho, Hoijland, McTominay, Sancho (although that was more his fault) and even Antony. These players are on social media all the time, pretending that the needless hate doesn't get to them is being incredibly naive.

There. Mentioned this before Amad deleted his posts because I was noticing it everywhere.

We have the most toxic fanbase of all football clubs. Probably comes from the fact that the club is a global phenomenon. There should be top people guiding players on this as good mental health is one of the most vital parts on the pitch. These are million $$$ assets and it's surprising we can let any random c*** get to them with their hate filled BS.

Sure we can agree there. Thats not to say Garnacho does not put in a shift either.
The main point was these types of player can have dips on form its quite common for their level of experience.

Its amazing that someone who less than 5 games ago most of the fan base loved and some were even saying we didn’t need to sign Mbeumo because of him, is now coping so much flack. Especially when said player has not even completed a full season as a regular starter.

Why do we play full backs there most of the time then? It clearly jnvolves more defensive responsibilities than a wide forward

Because Amorim feels he can depend on Dalot and Mazraoui more. And part of the reason we played fullbacks there last season is so that Amad could play as a #10 which I presume is where he himself wants to play. I dont think its about being a more defensive role, I think its about Amad's issue of being talented but in current form he makes poor decisions and delivery into the box. Dalot and Mazraoui you have a better idea of what they're going to do. Mazraoui is going to compete for the ball and is quite tidy with the ball although he isnt going to create loads. Dalot has good off the ball movement and loads of running getting into attacking areas with good speed. Amad isnt just the weakest defensively, sometimes he makes worse decisions and passes. Last season most of the time that wasnt the case so hopefully we have many games to come where he does a better job finding his teammates.

He's the same age as Gravenberch and Olise. It's not just his dip in the form. He's always trying to do the scissor kicks when a cross comes in and he became more cocky this season.

His attitude has changed for worse. Is he the next "youth" player who is going to have attitude issues? We already had that with Garnacho and Sancho, and even with Chido Obi and Mainoo this season. I don't see these kinds of attitude issues with younger players at the clubs like City, Liverpool, Arsenal etc.

When you're looking for it you're going to see it. When you are a hammer everything looks like a nail. There doesnt need to be a witch hunt, there doesnt need to be a new target just because Garnacho, Rashford, Antony and Hojlund are gone from the team and we're still not doing well.

He just needs to play, or possibly come on from the bench and do a better job finding his teammates. Thats it.

I think they need better guidance from the club. Seems very fragile and without guidance.

I wonder. He has had a poor start to the season and isn't showing the same qualities which made him so dangerous last year.

Perhaps a week or two out of the limelight will be good for him.

Amorim giving him some "mental" rest maybe after what's happened and also he deserves some time out of the team, considering his bad form.
He doesn't deserve time out of the team. Even when he's not at his best in front of goal, he's a massive player for us.

Oh I agree with that last part, he's one of my favourite players too watch. But considering what happened and his bad form, he might need some time away.

Edit: @Cutch thanks for clearing that up.

I think what players need to realise is 1% of football fans are complete dick heads. For most clubs that just means there are a handful of random twats online giving you abuse. At United you end up with 10,000 toss pots from the 4 corners of planet earth giving you grief online. Learn to ignore them and concentrate on the good suport you get from home and away fans at the games.

Anyway wish Amad all the best whatever he's going through.

Firstly I thought this was about the hate he got for his Garnacho post and his bad match vs Chelsea.
His form has been poor and I don't mind dropping him, but giving him shit for a picture with Garnacho... Some people are beyond help

Agree, there’s a lot of dramatics and histrionics going on in a fanbase.

Anyway, Amorim saying he lost someone close enough to be excused from playing, so probably someone important to him.

You'd think he'd posted a picture with Greenwood or something. Some of our fans are some of the worst and clearly have nothing going on with their own lives so a picture is the end of the world for them

Big miss for us but sorry for his loss and hope he’s Alright. He needs his family more than football right now

Yeah it's unreal. It's like players aren't allowed to stay friends or support them when they leave the club without it having some deeper meaning. From Amad taking a picture with Garnacho, Garnacho wearing a Rashford jersey or Bruno celebrating Rashford's 2 goals, it's not a big deal.

I wonder if we weren't so shit, people would find something better to do with their time. I didn't see any abuse for Evra or Park when they decided to stay friends with Tevez after he left for City.

Not available for tomorrow due to a bereavement in his family according to Amorim.

No matter what people have been saying about him this season that a big loss for us tomorrow

Especially with Maz out too.
It'll be Dalot, of course...but I'd like to see Mbuemo on the right with Mount/Bruno and Cunha as the two 10's. If Sesko starts then Dalot is nailed on. Despite being a very stupid player he has a good cross.

Especially with Maz out too.
Maz is consistently a terrible wingback for us, I don't think his absence has any bearing in that role. Brentford are going to be set piece heavy and direct, I think Dalot and Dorgu should play anyway for their height.

Another young player doing this

Edit: apparently he was getting abused for his performance. At least from what I could find online.

I'm pretty sure he's done this before a few years ago.

edit:

Last year in March.

Nope. My post was in reply to a poster saying that Amad deserved time out of the side due to poor form. I pushed back against that.
He probably does as well. He's had a poor start to the season. Hope he's doing ok with the bereavement and some fans are clearly deranged for abusing him on socials but he's not been playing well.

According to ChatGPT considering population stats and ratios, based on the number of fans we have, we likely have 7 to 8 million psychopaths in our fanbase and 12 to 24 active serial killers :wenger:

Have you considered the possibility that ChatGPT might actually qualify the criteria of being a psychopath, and so may not be an impartial source in the matter?

My point was that just because he's making the wrong decisions in front of goal, that doesn’t negate the good things that he is doing. He has been below his best in terms of productivity and efficiency in attacking areas, but he's still doing a lot of things really well.

I knew he would be underwhelming when he dyed part of his hair blond and did a dance before the camera. When I saw that something dyed inside me.

No he is not. He does that when the ball is behind him or there is no time to take a touch or bringing the ball under control is difficult. I always wonder if people here have played the game at any level at all?

Also, when players have attitude issues, they don't chase lost causes, press and give their 100% on the field. Just watch a video of his every touch against Chelsea and his effort ffs.

Have you considered the possibility that ChatGPT might actually qualify the criteria of being a psychopath, and so may not be an impartial source in the matter?
Hence the caveat "according to ChatGPT".

It very much does fit the criteria considering it has zero emotions, and we know LLMs have been proven to have inherent biases. And I did nudge it if I'm being honest

Anyways, this was a simple statistical derivation based on documented population ratios and stats. It's just made an assumption that we had circa 750 million worldwide fans (levelled down from the common claim that we have 1 billion fans) and is applying the same population ratios.
Obviously there's nothing to categorically say that the published studies and stats are not biased in themselves - ha!

Nevertheless, the underlying point is we have a huge fanbase, and as a result, probably have a huge number of wrong uns and weirdos so these toxic fan behaviours on social media (and occasionally here) do not surprise me.
