One thing I hope Amad to improve is that he should always be in movement rather than slowing down / standing still to draw opponents attentions. That leaves chances for opponent to muscle him down and he did not have the pace and strength to effectively escape, and more importantly kill the momentum and rhythm of attack.

Just learn from Bernardo Silva and he would be way better player fully utilizing his edges and covering up the weakness.

Love Amad, but agree with this. Probably the first time when I've felt that the system has stunted his natural game. He didn't play badly at all, but he didn't play like Amad.

Considering how adamant you was about Amad being a brilliant wing back, this admission is surprising. Fair play though.

We'll disagree but this isn't the first game that showcases the weakness of this set up and how it doesn't platform Amad the best but that's not unique to him. Amorim has most of the squad playing in awkward half spaces that none of them are used to or particularly excel in.

Man Utd 1:1 West Ham New
Thought he was our best player out there today, was the most creative outlet and did his defensive duties well.

The single exciting attacking player we have at the club and we hired a manager who sticks him at wingback.

It would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic

Take this guy out of the team and we have zero players who can actually beat a player in a one v one

Our entire strategy is centred around Amad beating 1/2 players to create anything. If he does that, we make chances.

We're absolutely cooked come AFCON.

Yeah agreed, our big 2 chances today came from him (the involvement in the goal and the Zirkzee chance he created)

Have absolutely no idea why they didn't set him up to attack Diouf more, that lad can't defend and was already on a yellow.

He was asleep for their goal though, was ball watching and no where near the player.

More interested in diving than beating his man half the time. Developed a horrible habit.
Yes, sad to see.

In the opponent's penalty area and he just looks to go down immediately. Referees are certainly onto it and he needs to drop that sh-t from his game immediately. The sad thing is, United would have a handful more chances if he stayed on his feet as he is, without doubt, a good creative talent.

It is fecking ridiculous that he is being wasted as a wing back.

He is a better RW than Mbeumo imo.

Amad has more variety to his game, the closer he gets to that box then the opposition start getting disrupted. We miss how he played last year.

He starts too deep as a wingback though so he has to carry alot of distance to get there.

Mbeumo is more unilateral & I believe he is better from deep where he can cut in and take long shots or long crosses.

I'd play Mbeumo as the RWB but I know this will never happen.

As well as slowing the play down a lot so he and Bruno can try and play pass a cake with the ball.

He’s much better when playing direct, which is what a wing back should do going forward.

I thought he flattered to deceive tonight. Some neat stuff and then totally shrank in the second half when his opponent was on a yellow. Baffling.

Weird moment of commentary where they said 'Amad, back in the Wing Back position where most United fans prefer him'.

He takes too many touches before passing it sometimes. Needs to be a more constant threat

His crossing is utter shite, 1st man all the time and the diving is proper jarring.

Most of our best direct play comes from this guy. End product maybe a bit mixed but I rate his performances a lot better than some of our other forwards.

Very good player - I really, really like him.

A shame that he’s being wasted a bit playing RWB. Would love to see him getting a consistent run as right winger/attacker in a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 in a properly functioning team.

Why would we waste our best goalscorer at WB?

I don't think Magassa is Amad's man at all. Amad is stood where he was when the corner was taken - he's presumably positioned level with the penalty spot so he can close down the edge of the box if it gets cleared. He was never anywhere near Magassa to begin with.

The problem is I don't know who the hell is meant to be marking Magassa. Most of our players are marking the 6 yard box zonally, and they all get attracted towards the near post when the corner is taken. Magassa is just wandering round the whole time unmarked and then pulls to the back post where everyone had abandoned, and no one follows him because no one was marking him in the first place.

Maybe you can argue Amad should abandon his assigned job and try get goal side of Magassa when he spots no one has bothered to occupy the back post space or mark him, but it happens in a split second. If the ball is headed clear towards the edge of the box instead and Amad has abandoned that area to go mark Magassa, people would then question why he ran away from his assigned area at the edge of the box.

He would be a star at a good team.

Or maybe even here if we didn't play a shitty system that has him as a wingback

Took some people on last night and we reaped the rewards. I thought it was his best game in ages.

Love Amad but considering how tepid we are on the left side with Dalot, I can't help wonder if we would be better off playing Amad as LWB and moving Dalot to RWB.

He’s the one player that I am confident will perform most weeks. Are there elements that could improve? Certainly. But he performs more consistently than most, you know what you’re going to get and it’s very good.

He should have picked Magassa up, no excuses.

Neh he’d get picked off going around the outside of defenders by pure strength .

Amad had two of his worst games of the season in the matches where we played him at left #10. Obviously that's different than LWB, but he's always played on the right and I think his performances would probably drop quite significantly out on the left.

I definitely noticed him just standing still and marking nobody at all during West Ham's goal. It wasn't the greatest clearance from the line but if Amad had been stood in front of Magassa instead of just standing still and watching the ball then that goal wouldn't have happened

Wolves 1:4 Man Utd New
The way he switched off for their goal infuriated me, why did he start running the other way while they still looked to have possession?

Other than that, a lot of dribbling into their second defender that I'm not a fan of. Got PTSD from the old Rashy/Garnacho days. Won us a pen and created another chance for Bruno, so it wasn't all bad, just a bit of a mixed bag

Quality player, one of the few we have.
Still can improve on end product but makes it looks so simple at times. A joy to watch with the ball

Simultaneously our best and worst performer. So confusing.
I’m not sure why in the last 3 years our wide players decide to just cut in and shoot or dribble into trouble instead of making a cross into the box or finding an open teammate. It’s not just him but all of our players that play that role.
