That winger pairing was part of the reason we couldn't score goals to save our lives last season (although of course Amad got injured as he was in good form). Amad is a wonderful player but nowhere near a consistent goalscorer yet. Garnacho is one of the worst finishers I've ever seen at the club. The striker situation was tragic although Sesko isn't pulling up trees right now. Revamping our front line was an absolute must if we wanted to compete in matches this year, and signing two players with a proven track record of scoring goals in this league was smart. If we had a better midfield but were still relying on Garnacho and Amad for goals we wouldn't be in a better position than we are right now, I'm almost certain of it.

I understand the frustration of neglecting the midfield again but I do think there's a clear plan with regards to the squadbuilding, even if I don't agree with INEOS' player profiling sometimes.
 
There will be times in which we may have one of Mbeumo or Amad unavailable.

There will be seasons in which we may have more games and where we may need to rotate Mbeumo and Amad.

If anything, buying Mbeumo points towards good long term planning. The fella is also a reason why we are among the top scorers in the league.

This is a fans forum though, with performance threads for individuals. I’m talking more about in the media, general consensus. Amad has performed as well as consistently as anyone since he broke into the team. His ability is of the best at the club. You’d never know.
 
I wouldn’t massively be surprised if in the switch to 4231 that Amad plays as the 10.


Mbeumo seems much more of an actual winger than him.
 
I also struggle to see how we make Mbeumo and Amad work on the right without a back 3/5.

However we want top players fighting for every position, we want Mbeumo performing amazingly and still being rotated because Amad can’t be left out. That’s what makes a top team. Ole and Sheringham on the bench because Yorke and Cole were on fire.

We want European CL football, we will need a bigger squad and more quality on the bench.

Those still bashing Bruno need to have a word with themselves he has been and is our best player and the 2nd top playmaker in the league since he arrived. Only KBD has done more.

Don't be sorry, be grateful we have both. Amad can play both RW and RWB and if anything has looked better at RWB when he's running into space.

Mbeumo's form has dipped this last month or so but I'm not worried as he's shown high levels already and at one early in the season was looking by far our best player.

He has looked very good in this tournament so far, playing with so much authority and also attempting the type of passes we haven't seen as much from him at United.

I don't want to bring one of our players down, and Mbeumo has higher reputation and maybe achieved more so far.

But Amad is on a different level of natural talent. When it comes to talent/ability, he's up there with Bruno and Martinez in my book. Cannot be taught.

Why on earth would we keep Garnacho? He was behaving poorly and his performances and attitude were terrible.

Konan, plays for a Portuguese team. I looked after their first match because he looked really talented.

Sadly he's a 30 year old journeyman. Looks a decent player though.

Right hand side was nonexistent for us today, while normally that's where most of our attacks originate from. We need him asap

This shows you two things, which we all already knew anyway:

1. This system is atrocious if it relies on hyper specific players and goes to shit the second one player is not available for it; and

2. It’s more likely the case of Amad being a very good player and playing well in spite of the system and being out of position more than anything else.

Maybe Forson agreed to sign with EtH’s agency? I only say this half in jest, as he was a crook, old baldie. One of the more bizarre situations I’ve seen - not picking amad but giving Forson plenty of minutes.
