I don't think we are doing a bad job with the squad rebuild as a whole, you are not going to get every transfer right. Lets see how we get on going forward, the profiles we're looking at for midfield are at least promising
I agree with you. Early signs are we are building up a good squad. It will take more time.

Yea he has a contract, but he would push to leave. Which teams above us? And which players are taking the first 11 instead? Amad is in a good position to claim he should be first choice ahead of the other wide forwards we have.

Eze and Madueke are regularly on the bench for Arsenal. City you can take your pick but Marmoosh, Doku and Savinho are the ones not in the first 11 at the moment. When everyone was fit, Liverpool were having to choose who to bench from Isak, Ekitike, Gakpo etc.

I’m not even particularly bothered whether it’s Amad or Mbeumo as first choice. They can fight it out and whoever plays best will start.

I’m not sure why you’re concerned, if Amad is as good as you think say he is, he will take that starting spot.

Yes but who would accept being benched? Amad should be a first 11 player, he's not for rotation.

Every other club has good players on the bench without issue, why do you guys constantly make it an issue here. City, Chelsea, and Liverpool do it, Bayern do it, Barca and Real do it, but for us its a 1st 11 and trash.

Then you'll come here and complain about the squad and strength in depth, and injury crises.

All you need is a manager that actually rotates players properly. Running Bruno into the ground like ETH and Amorim is not how you do things.

Because amad is better than most of those benched players, and they are nearly all being benched for better players than amad is.

And they're playing for clubs who are competing for all 4 trophies. They're going to get plenty of top level gametime in the CL games.

Why would you want to be stuck on the bench for a club competing for top 4?

I think top 4 for us not likely. We got some tough games incoming.

Alright then let’s strip our team to only a good first XI, that way we will never make top 4/5 and never have to worry about needing good alternatives.

Cunha as false 9 and try Amad or Mbeumo on the left.

Would like to get Mount in there as well as I think he was key to most of the best football Utd have played this season.

Surely you could play any of Amad, Mbuemo or Cunha more centrally and it doesn’t have to be either/or for a wide spot.

I quite like the idea of Amad and Cunha occupying more central spaces.

Must admit I haven't watched much of the AFCON - but it seems quite obvious that he is one of the standout performers. He has played 4 + 1 matches (and the match tonight isn't finished yet) - and he has 3 goals 1 assist. And that takes him level on goals with Salah, Osimhen, Sinayoko, Mahrez and Lookman - 1 goal behind Brahim Diaz

We haven't made a ton of good signings past Ferguson - but surely Diallo must be ranked 2nd behind Bruno ?

He's never coming back :(

Egypt come on, live up to your favorites billing and knock these guys out.

I think de ligt will prove to be an excellent signing as well but yes it’s hard to argue your point. Has to be up there with one our better signings

Definitely. Allowing for new guys not being fully settled yet anyway.

Interesting to think who was our manager when we made our two best signings of the post-Fergie era…

Filthy goal and assist yet again.

He's better than Mbuemo as an overall player, even though people don't want to hear it. Just needs to develop that goalscoring gene BM has where he can play crap but pop up with production in any game.

Maybe 442 or some sort of hybrid is the future next year. Or 4231 with Mbuemo in the hole once Bruno leaves. Not sure, but definitely something the next manager needs to solve with these two. They are too good to keep one off the pitch.

I may be Amads biggest fan. I think ability wise he’s our best player. I think since he broke in to the team after ETH left he’s been consistently our best player. I think in the next two years he will go up another level…he can play well even when we are shite…His decision making will improve as will his end product and this tournament could be transformational also.

All this being said, I think we shit on a lot of players who have been/were very good for us. Personally I can’t justify Amad being classed as a better signing than Shaw, Maguire, Pogba currently. Those three contributed lots over a long time and to successes. I get they aren’t liked…but their current contributions are greater than Amads.

In years to come I do think he will go on to be our best post fergie signing though, the bar isn’t that high overall, with Mbuemo, Cunha and Lammens potentially also being high on the list…hopefully Sesko we will see.

It’s not a bad call but I prefer only one player out of position. I think a fluid front three of Cunha, Amad and Mbeumo is electric. Nominally I have Cunha left, Amad as a false 9 going wherever the feck he wants, and Mbeumo left. I think this would suit everyone very well.

You could have Casemiro as a disciplined anchor, and Mount and Bruno as 8s. That’s a hard working, creative team that would press as a unit. People will think it’s too attacking but if it is tight as a unit it would be terrific.

Mbeumo is playing as a 10 for Cameroon, I think both him and Amad can swap positions during games between right wing and false 9 / 10

Good news is both are playing at a very good level at AFCON

And Bruno?

Personally I have no idea why pogba would belong on that list. Besides being a wonderful footballer when on song, he really didn't contribute much to us and left under a bit of a cloud, twice.

Breakout tournament so far. Easily one of the best players

Completely agree. I would have them both switching off with one another during games. Creates a fluidity and unpredictability that unnerves defences. If one needs a more fixed reference point, that’s what Sesko is for off the bench.

We routinely saw our manager start 5-6 (sometimes even 7) defensive players in one XI. We could quite easily field Mbeumo and Amad in the same side, alongside Fernandes and Cunha.

Something like this?

Agreed entirely.

Amad at wing back was laughable use of him. I think he’s our best player bar Bruno.

Annoying he has to play well because we need him, but happy for him at the same time.

He better be tapping up Diomande.

I remember when Gab Marcotti shat on United for signing him saying he has nowhere close to the potential of Fati

Kind of like when he also talked down Vidic when he signed as slow and weak

I still can't believe there were some fans who thought he was best placed to play at wing back.

Thank feck Amorim got sacked.

Has anyone really claimed that his best position is as a wing back? Or just as a solution to shoehorn him into Amorim's formation along with the other starters?

Yes there were a lot of people claiming he’s best as wingback. Check my message history and you will find out about the people that thought so.

The way I see it, Amad can rotate. He or Mbeumo can play 10 or Right forward, Amad can also rotate with Cuhna.

Mount and Bruno can rotate. Having Amad and Mbeumo on the right could terrify the opposition but Amad is too small to play wingback and did cost us a goal or two.
