Hopefully a decent world cup with a sensational performance against Norway and a nice holiday will see him come back in form. His second half of the season was not his best but he's such a good player when he is on it. Excited to see him play again!
 
Some of the shite papers saying Newcastle in for him. Hopefully keep him, think he has potential to be great
 
Why is he posting videos training with a Villareal kit? I get its his teammates’ from national team, but how about don’t post it?

I really like him and would be sad to see it, but if there's real belief in Lacey as a decent backup for Mbeumo, and we got 50M for Amad and shipped Rashford off, I guess I could see the club doing that and buying Barcola for example.

and you'd sell Zirkzee and bring in a poacher/target man #9 as an option off the bench, even if it's just a loan.

Probably more likely we only buy an LB and a DM and just do:

Cunha-Sesko-Mbeumo
Rashford-Zirkzee-Amad

for this year with a sprinkling of minutes for Thompson and Lacey out wide. Lacey might have to be a guy who goes out somewhere and we get a buyback like Real always do. Bring him back in 2-3 years.
 
He's the sort of player we can't afford to sell if we want to compete at the top end

We have to have players of his quality or Mbeumo's quality (depending on who starts) able to come off the bench and change a game. If they aren't willing to do that for the team then OK, maybe one of them has to go, but that's how elite teams should operate

This was a tough season but he was exceptional in 24/25, had a solid finish (after a long injury) in 23/24, and was fantastic for Sunderland the year before. He's a big game player capable of breaking down stubborn defenses and we need that

If Madrid/Barcelona/PSG/Munich come knocking for big money then he'll be tough to keep but should not willingly be sold otherwise

Really looking forward to him this season - such an exciting player

Eh? £50m? We paid £37m for him donkey's years ago, he's got to be worth a lot more than bloody £50m in this market.
 
Why is he training in a Villarreal top when he should be training in Manchester United's 1992-1993 blue away top with a fake Brian McClair hairpiece ?
 
He's probably my favourite player of ours to watch at his best. His ability to play under pressure and in tight spaces is always pleasing on the eye when he's in form. Problem being we haven't seen that consistently for a while, though.

The promising thing is that he finished the season with a good game against Brighton where he played a big part in one of the best goals we scored that season, and had a pretty good World Cup. If that's the start of him kicking on, it'll be a huge boost to the squad because the attributes he brings at his best are pretty rare here at the moment.
 
He needs a really good season because post AFCON he was a shadow of himself.
 
Very interesting to see how he gets on. He definitely has that star quality in and around the box, we’ve seen that he can be electric when he’s on it, and I have high hopes.

However, it’s up to him to put it all together and be important for the team throughout the season. Does feel like it’s make or brake time. If not he’s still a very good player to have in the squad.
 
Still believe in his talent even though he was pretty bad last season. I think he has the highest ceiling of all our attacking players.
 
I'll always believe in him. One of the best 'footballers' in our squad, and we play better with him in the team. Needs to gain consistency and especially add some more output.

I agree, we’ve seen him do it against the best teams (Liverpool and City come to mind), it’s just a matter of putting it together. Hopefully we grow as a team so our attackers have better conditions to shine.
 
Interesting to see so much negativity after he had a really good World Cup.
 
Ivory Coast got knocked out on 30 June, so he had the same three weeks off that everyone else has.
 
He's our best RW option on form by far. Even when his form dips, he has exceptional work rate and tries to make things happen. He should get the first 5-10 games of the season. Mbuemo wasn't good today.

World cup is not as good a standard as the premier league tbf.

He had a good world cup and hopefully he can continue that into the season. I'm generally not really convinced by him. Good work rate but very low output.

Last season, yes, but his output before that was fine. He still has levels to go.

He’s now 24 years old. This season will be make or break for him. As a top team wanting to challenge for the league and CL we need a lot of output from our wingers aswell as the ST.
 
Excellent 45 mins from him today both in and out of possession. Hopefully carries this form into the season.
 
Just don’t see it with him, hope he proves me wrong this season but not hopeful. Looks a bench player at best to me.

And that's fine too, not everyone has to be elite, he's good enough to start some games and coming off the bench he's better than most teams options

You don’t like the close control, the immaculate first touch, the dribbling, and the tracking back?

I concede that he needs to work on his final ball, but his technical level puts most of the rest to shame in our side. We need him to keep developing.

What do you not see? the talent, the close control, the ability to close defenders down and win possession? the hard work he puts every time he's on the pitch? the excellent technical ability? The fact that he's adding more to his game? (freekicks). His big game performances including in the world cup when he almost single handedly rescued his team?

What exactly do you not see?

I can appreciate I’m very much in the minority on this one, but to me he is missing a yard of pace and lacks an end product, and doesn’t impact the game as much as a top player should.

Not saying he shouldn’t play, I’m equally as unsure about Mbuemo too so I’d still have him in the side but can’t see him being a game changer.

All that said, the way both of them combined for the goal vs Brighton at the end of last season was brilliant, hopefully we see more of that and I’m proven badly wrong!

Agree with this re Amad. Has flattered to deceive for a while now. One good season for us and a silky playing style makes some think he's an incredible talent that we need to keep at all costs. Too patchy and impacts the game when it matters too rarely for me. Hoping he steps up and achieves better output and consistency, because when he's good he can be very good
 
Need more players like him. Fantastic work rate and has actual ability on the ball as well. Literally are only forward playing now against PSG that can hold on to the ball, take players on and pass the ball. Mbeumo finish aside has been rough to watch on the ball and Dorgu off the ball has been good but struggles to pass a ball or dribble.
