He is a proper modern winger. Outstanding at pressing whenever he senses a loose touch from the opposition, and very good technical ability to manoeuvre out of tight spaces.
Glad Mbeumo can deputise up front as Amad is too good to be warming our bench most weeks. If he added goals to his game then he would be world class.

He nearly has everything you want in a winger just needs to add the output and we'd have a fantastic player. There was a time a while back where it seemed like he was trying to do too much in front of goal where he'd shoot too much but he's done a 180. Personally would like him to try shooting a bit more or occasionally try a cross every now and then.
I don't know how he managed to score more goals for his national team in the few minutes he spent with them than the whole of last season in the league with us. Hopefully this year we get a bit more G/A numbers for him. His general play is already very good.
He seems a confidence player. Hopefully he can hit the ground running this season as that gives us a great right hand side to attack from.
he's unselfish, and his decision making is good that he can pull a final pass in a better position..thats why he scored too few goals, but he's got a great shot and can finish. Surely it will come.
Now with Santomans midfield and bruno next he will have a lot of early balls to make better use of it. We were a bit too predictable at times and I think we will speed it up a notch this year.

Totally agree with you here. Amazing talent but too inconsistent. Last season was a hit then a miss. I get it from his perspective. Amorim came in, his role changed, he did very well and then Amorim left whilst he was at AFCON. He came back and was not good.
He had a great world cup, I think this season is a key one for him.
Technically he’s great. I wish he was just a little more physical. If he was I think he’d genuinely have world class potential
Get him one on one with a defender and you always feel something will happen. He would benefit from having a very good attacking fullback behind him.
Was outstanding in the first half. I was a bit worried PSG were going to be keeping an eye on him going forward

I think this is a huge part of wide players looking world class or not consistently, they need a WC or at least very good FB overlapping so they have the space and passes available instead of having to do everything themselves.
Yeah for sure. He's got a huge amount of talent but just doesn't put it together regularly or consistently enough. Hopefully Carrick will get the best out of him.

Just a case of tidying up that final pass again. The one to Lacey was really poor after he'd done all the hard work.
I feel that was only true last season. He was one of our best and most consistent players in 24/25, he was good for most of the few matches that ETH gave him in 23/24, by all accounts was great for Sunderland in 22/23, and I always thought he looked impressive in the few matches he got in his early years. He may not have been good in every single match, but his ratio of good to bad matches was probably better than almost anyone else in the squad.
It was really only last season where he was quite inconsistent and had significant periods of poor form. His first half of the season was quite good but without the final product, then obviously his general form dropped off quite significantly in the second half of the season.
I remember him having one good season in 24/25 and pretty patchy and unproductive otherwise. Still, he showed enough in that season to keep the faith

Poor second half of last season but he was very good before that. He's a quality player and I'm pretty sure it was just a dip in form after afcon. I hope he has a great season. Really fun player to watch at his best.
If you combine Mbeumo's strengths (Raw pace, off the ball movement, end product and decision making) and Amad's (Technique, dribbling and pressing), you'd end up with the best player in the world. Instead, we have two very good players.

In my opinion, he needs to be consistent. He will be mid 20s soon, approaching his key career window.
He does not need to be world class, I dont know if he has that in his locker but he can be a very good player for us but if he cannot perform week in and week out, then someone will replace him in this team. It is just how football works.

But, it's quite obvious he can't have another year where he gets 2 goals. That's not "very good". He's a very good talent who had a poor season. If he had another season like that we'd have to consider getting rid and looking for upgrades.

Very good player for us and had to deal with lots of changes to his role in the team last year. From playing as RWB and a right sided ten both in a terrible system he has been messed around plenty.
Personally think he will be our starting RW with Mbeumo as central striker due to Sesko not being ready yet. He will get opportunities to shine again this year and I hope he takes it.

He’s going to have a step up this season. 20 goals contribution for him this season I reckon.
He did that season before last, He should aim for 30 atleast and hopefully we will get diversified attack unlike second half of last season where whole burden of playing the final ball was on one player.
He is consistent though? He works hard every game, helps the team with his pressing and ballwinning. Also helps the team in possession by being really comfortable with the ball at his feet and really good at not being pushed of the ball as well. He makes us a better team. Goals or not. Imo.
He’s our most talented attacker, but he really needs to add a few more G/A this year. He showed he can do it a couple of seasons ago. If he can get something like 12 goals and 10 assists then that makes him world class IMO because his work rate is immense for an attacking player.
That is a ridiculously high number to say he should aim at least for that. Like saying he should at least be the best in the EPL and among the top 5 wingers in the world.
You realise that no EPL winger got those numbers last season and the only wingers in the top 5 leagues who reached or surpassed that number were Yamal, Olise, Vini and Kvaratskelia?

Its been his limiting factor even when he was at Sunderland he was being called out for his end product. He has a lot of talent but doesn't seem to be that aggressive to beat his man or impact play. Whether thats a mentality thing or that he just can't quite reach that level I don't know. Still think he will end up as a bench option rather than be the main right wing option for us if we build a strong squad.
