Amad signs a new contract until 2030

It’s good news but I can’t help feel contract extensions will again end up being another excuse for the Ineos/Glazers to avoid signing any new players this month, knowing we desperately need a left back and midfielder.

Well there wasn’t any links that’s for sure but the coup would have made sense
If you live in some la la land where things are like they used to be where players didn’t go between massive clubs.
Yeah, la la land is definitely where you'd be living if you were ever worried about Amad going to Liverpool.

When was the last time a male player transferred directly between United and Liverpool?

Great thing about Amad getting a bumper deal is you know he's not the type of character to let it get to his head. His story is amazing considering the set backs and hardships he's been through, being trafficked as aa kid into italty, then showing his talent at Atlanta only to get a big move here and never given a real chance under Ole even after scoring important goals when the opportunities presented itself namely in against Milan only to be told he still had a lot to learn and was sent off endless loans to rangers and sunderland.

To then come back and get injured in preseason for Ten Hag's 2nd season and then never given a real run until ETH's hand was forced due to the dismal performances of Antony. Even having to witness the utimate insult and have an academy player Forson chosen and trusted ahead of him. A player of weaker mentality, no a player with a ego would have put in a transfer request right there and then, but Amad binded his time and waited patiently to showcase his talent. The complete shite this guy has had to go through here to get his chance to prove himself is unbelievable that's why I have nothing but respect for the guy

Mainoo should look at this and sign new contract with similar salary range. If reports were to be believed Mainoo was asking for 250k then we need to make hard decision. We don't want to go back to Woodward days when we gave 250k salary to a 21 years old Rashford.

I was worried. They’ve been well run for a while

He was going on a free. Wouldn’t be going there directly if his contract expires. And yes, 1964 but paul ince went from United to Milan to Liverpool.

So you think Amad would have gone
“Well Liverpool, the best current club in England annd in Europe offered me a contract but i gotta go to Italy first or something……”
Things don’t work the way it used to

So and this is not only related to Amad, any player in current roster in our case, if true that he was on 30k and now on 125k, people think its deserved for him/them to get 4x bigger wage, what he/they did or achieved to earn it exactly?! same goes if its investment for the future, specially with our track record post SAF. Seems we will never break a cycle.

Yes. Absolutely deserved. What do you think he should be earning?

Has anyone credible reported Amad's wages as 125k a week for his new contract ?

80k at very very max and even that is hella stretch, our wage bill and their wages have to reflect their and team performances, line has to be pushed way back, its getting silly specially if you compare it with shit on the pitch.

Worked his arse off and seemed happy even on loan at lower level clubs. its no wonder he took his chances well when given the chance as a United first teamer. My favourite player at the moment. A top talent but so humble.

Love Amad and I am glad that he will be a feature of this team going forward. Positive attitude, hard-working, wants to win, skillful. Everything is there. We need more such players in the team.

We've kind of backed ourselves into a corner with other contracts. If you were being paid a fraction of what your coworkers were getting paid while outperforming them I'm sure you'd expect at least parity with those wages

He could have got a deal at another club worth more than 80k.

I'd say this deal is pushing the line back to some extent. He'll be on 125k for what should be his peak years, it's a lot less than what we've given in the past to lesser players than him

It's basically been Amad carrying our entire attack this season. Well deserved renewal I hope he also bucks the trend of poor performances post renewal.

That will be always the case, you have to break the line somewhere if you want to change current situation.

Well if there is a place ready to pay him/them more then good luck and goodbye, wage issue is about and on us sadly.

Agreed but Amad isn't the player to do that with. He is probably one of the top 3 players in the squad right now and has a super high work rate which a lot of our team lack.

Also we allowed his contract to run down to the last 6 months so the club had basically no leverage. Even though 120k a week is a lot, the salary is still not as outrageous as players like Casemiro, Bruno, Rashford and Mount for example who are all reportedly on 200 - 300k plus per week.

I understand Amad's new contract is at similar levels to Yoro and Zirkzee.

We also have players like Eriksen and Shaw on much higher contracts who barely feature for us albeit more seasoned professionals.

All things considered I think Amad's new contract is on the high end but still reasonable compared to the rest of our squad.

Of course it's now down to Amad to keep working hard and improving. If he becomes complacent the contract will obviously look like a mistake in the future. If he continues his current trajectory the contract will look like a steal deal. Time will tell.

If you don't want to pay that amount then someone is probably going come in and buy him. Then you will be questioning why we didn't pay him what he deserves.

125k/wk is a large amount but at least we are not giving Sancho, Rashford kind of crazy pay.

I feel if someone deserves something like 250k/wk, it should be a base of 125k/wk and then the rest performance based or something.

Let’s hope he doesn’t look up to Rashford

One of the few positives that will come of the Marcus Rashford United story, is that he will be an example for those that don’t pull their weight.

The lads will know where not turning up, attitude wise will inevitably lead them under the new management.

Local lad has his millions, but at the end, he is likely to be remembered as the guy who didn’t put the shifts in when we were in the hole.
