Think it's fair to say we need to look at more midfield options with Pogba and Matic possibly leaving this summer.

Whether Haidara is the right man or not we will see, but he certainly fits the pressing/high energy mantra straight away.

Been saying for a while that Bissouma would be perfect for us. Won't be cheap though that's the major problem. No chance that move can happen in January either.
Bissouma only has 2 years left, Brighton might want to cash in soon as he's made it clear he wants to go higher and probably won't sign a new deal.

We will most likely see players who we have heard very little about coming here now.
Rangnick likes to bring in players who he know will give him what he wants ( high energy all action ).
We have wasted money on many big signings over the years.
So lets give him the chance.

I like this player - I remember watching a match in which he stood out massively and I immediately went to buy him on SM only to be disappointed as usual.

I hope the rumour is true - a Kante type - just what we need.
Haven't seen much of him to be honest, but Rangnick is known for spotting talent. So we need to trust him.

I've seen Haidara a few times, and he's a good player. Rapid, good passing range and fits the style of play like a glove. He presses all day.

He's more of a Fred box to box defensive player (not a traditional CDM). But, the two of them would give teams nightmares on the ball (I think Fred will look like a new player in this set up).

We need midfield options desperately, so I think he could work with Fred or rotate with him. But, I still think we're missing a player in the middle that has the passing range to start moves quickly. Haidara is a progressive passer, but he's not a Kross. Whilst I'd worry about our physicality with him and Fred.

Having said all that, it's probably bollocks... I'd imagine we'll get linked to every RB player under the sun untill January.

I think it's pretty hard to predict what profile of player Rangnick will go for. He has a history of 'unearthing gems', that seems to be his MO so far, but he never worked on a budget like United has before. Though Leipzig and Hoffenheim are both financially backed, they don't really spend big on single players.

Wouldn't he immediately be going to the AFCON?
We wouldn't buy him only to have him for January, would we?

Sure, it'd be a bummer to have him start late but if we could sign him unopposed with him joining after the final on feb 6th (assuming Mali get there) it wouldn't be much different to signing a player on Jan 31st before the window closes, IMO.

The AFCON thing goes for Bissouma and N'didi too, if those two would've been our targets. It's hardly as if we as a club usually get someone in on Jan 1st as soon as the window opens. We got Bruno on the 30th of January, and that didn't turn out too badly.

Brozovic and Kessie are both out of contract in the summer I think. I'd rather have 1 or even both of them on a free.

I doubt we will sign anyone in January tbh.

He doesn’t get the juices going, in fact I’d argue that we have young uns that could step up and do what he does
Meibri? Either way we need to sell the entire midfield with the exception of Fred imo, the more midfielders we bring in (that fit Ralfs profile for the role) the better imo.

Plus I just want us to sign a DM, I don’t care if they are crap, out of principle I want us to buy an actual DM godammit :(

Meant to be interested in this guy too..

Now this is very interesting, not sure he's ready for us, but I feel like he has very good vision and technique - lots of scope to be a great signing.

Not the player I think we really need mind.

If it were any other interim I wouldn’t think so but the fact Rangnick will be involved with the club beyond the summer and will be involved with appointing a new manager makes me think we’d trust his instincts.

If there's one player I would get out of Leipzig, it would have to be Dominik Szoboszla. Only 21 and the guy is a star in the making. Him and Rashford battling for the LW spot along with Sanchez and Amad for the RW spot would be good. Martial can be sold to Barcelona and Tchouameni to hold the base of our midfield in a 4-3-3 would be phenomenal.

Tchouameni, VDB/ Fred, and Bruno could work with the right coaching in place. Come on R2!

Nah we don't. At least not in the next 18 months. Garner looked on his way last season, but has been average at best this season. And of our more experienced youngsters, only Laird and Elanga have taken huge steps in the right direction this season, and none of those are in that position

I trust Rangnick on transfers — his record is impressive to say the least. So if he wants to sign this bloke then I’m all for it.

Amadou dou dou, pass to Rashy, set him free
Amadou dou dou, bail out Harry, or it's three
On the left, on the right, find a through-ball to Ronnie
Run and tackle every match, gegenpress for big Ralfie

One of the things I always admired about the transfer strategy he implemented at the clubs he worked for, was to sign only players that would fit the playing style he wanted to cultivate, no matter the prominence of the player. Something that we all too often don't seem to do, and it's reflected in the way our squad has been playing so disjointed for years now.

Yeah it’ll be a welcome change in our transfer strategy.

His press conference confirmed signings like this are off the card. Good.

Never know the obsession with players that are not ready for our level, just so we can feel like we buy smart like Dortmund. Let the Lipseig and Dortmund’s sign this and we will pinch them when they are ready and by ready I mean the best player at their club.

Did it? What did he say please, I missed it.
When asked about signings (January) not verbatim, but said we wouldn’t be signing anyway who isn’t better than what we currently have to be a first team regular.

Basically we ain’t signing no Donny Van De Beek and we ain’t singing no one that Redcafe assumes will be better than McTominay and Fred.

I think we need a passer in CM rather than an engine type player as we rely too much on creativity from wide. Thanks

That's his style. Creativity will come from full backs and no 10s. 2 hardworking CMs makes the opposition life extremely difficult. Haidara is better on the ball and is on par with Fred in terms of workrate. He would be an excellent addition.

We will literally continue this strategy so don’t care what you think. Half the muppets on here feel the club can survive on buying the Justin Kliuvert’s of this world whilst we never do that.

So comeback to me in the summer when we buy a well known CM.

Him and Fred together could form an awesome partnership. Neither are out and our DMs though so we'll probably still need to buy someone for that role given that Ralf likes to change up the formation depending on the opposition. Id be happy with him being brought in though.

Going for big names is what we've been doing over the last 8 years and it's only backfired.

Finding the right player is the important part, not the glitzy name. How many people turned their nose up to Mane, Wijnaldum or even Jota? all players we could have signed easily but went for the bigger name.

I trust Rangnick to find a player he thinks is correct.
