Nurse bell end
Another snout in the trough.
Not much anymore. Living in DC, I get all of the home games for baseball, basketball and hockey on basic cable and the NFL team is on regular network tv (no blackouts). The NFL is the only one with a blackout rule and that's only if the game doesn't sell out which they almost all do.America have local blackouts too though.
Is there going to be a channel for this or will it solely be through laptop and other devices?
Interesting concept and I can see it increasing to 30-40 games in next deal. In fairness Boxing day you are allowed to show a match at 3pm (remember watching Everton-Man. United years back which kicked off at 3pm so stuck in my mind).
Will be at the match anyway as should anyone as Boxing day is great day to go out and watch a live game.
Fair enough, will certainly have a look at the early December round of fixtures.Highly doubt there will be a channel. View it through your phone, laptop, smart tv etc. Bit like watching Netflix.
Stick your phone in flight mode. I do that whenever I'm streaming.Yes, very hard to ignore WhatsApp groups though. I’m sure plenty others are in the same boat.
Or 3 games on Boxing Day?Only two games? Oh well I have Prime anyway
I've been thinking about this too. Surely they will have you commit to Amazon Prime instead of rolling 30-days as it's far too easy to pay for one month and cancel/get your money back for leaving = Getting free prime for the reason you need it e.g The football games. They do a month's free trial so sign up for that and you get both games for free
I think for the upcoming season DAZN lost its rights to Sky. Sky charge double, i think.I get all PL games and all CL games on Da Zone for 150 bucks for the year.
What's up with those kick-off times? Did they do that to try and get more publicity or something?Amazon fixture times and dates confirmed:
Tuesday 3 December
Wednesday 4 December
- Crystal Palace vs Bournemouth (7.30pm)
- Burnley vs Manchester City (8.15pm)
Thursday 5 December
- Chelsea vs Aston Villa (7.30pm)
- Leicester vs Watford (7.30pm)
- Manchester United vs Tottenham (7.30pm)
- Southampton vs Norwich (7.30pm)
- Wolves vs West Ham (7.30pm)
- Liverpool vs Everton (8.15pm)
- Sheffield United vs Newcastle (7.30pm)
- Arsenal vs Brighton (8.15pm)
Aren't those normal times for mid-week games? What's up with those kick-off times? Did they do that to try and get more publicity or something?
They tend to be 7:45pm or 8pm. Unusual to have it as they are stated.Aren't those normal times for mid-week games?
Prime would then cost what a Sky/BT Sports subscription does. They tend to be 7:45pm or 8pm. Unusual to have it as they are stated.
Wish Amazon would just buy the full rights and stream everything.
Cause clubs would certainly have a drop in attendances.Prime would then cost what a Sky/BT Sports subscription does.
It is beyond stupid that we don’t have a Premier League subscription service similar to NBA Game Time, how can I live in the country of the league & not be guaranteed the opportunity to watch/rewatch every game a team plays.
Not necessarily. Amazon has long been in the business of buying market share and reinvesting any profits to buy yet more. They could quite happily buy up all the rights at a loss just to drive Sky & BT out of the business, then use the monopoly to beat down prices. They do it all the time.Prime would then cost what a Sky/BT Sports subscription does.
I don't think there is a correlation between those 2 things. The NFL has a similar service and I've never heard anything about it affecting attendance.Cause clubs would certainly have a drop in attendances.
To increase what people can watch. You can watch the first half of one game then switch to the start of another etcWhat's up with those kick-off times? Did they do that to try and get more publicity or something?
Yes, would intuitively think that's the idea behind it. Not sure how many people will actually do it though, and it even a few minutes can make a difference for those attending the match in terms of being get there for kick off after work or public transport on the way home. Might be a pointless exercise in the end that will just piss of those who go but we'll see.To increase what people can watch. Match day attendance isn't as important as it once was. The more content you produce, the more touchpoints you can provide digitally (e.g. mobile app, streaming content/programming, etc.) the more you can sell it off...i.e. the more you can monetize. And brands want engagement and engagement opportunities. It's not worth it for brands to just be present on matchdays because matchday attendance is one-off....but you see millions of people using Amazon for everything or at least the potential for everything.I don't think there is a correlation between those 2 things. The NFL has a similar service and I've never heard anything about it affecting attendance.
Is this for Germany or Canada? Here in Canada initially, I was a bit weired out but TSN losing the PL to DAZN but I did th trail thing and was pleasantly surprised and now I really like it! They even have a Kodi addon which means I can watch it on my Libreelec setup The only thing about DAZN that is missing is post-game chat, once they get that it will be perfect, regardless its still conveniently excellent.I think for the upcoming season DAZN lost its rights to Sky. Sky charge double, i think.
Maybe not in the Premier League but they aren’t the only clubs in England.Match day attendance isn't as important as it once was.
Well this a PL only deal right for Prime? So yeah, that's who it is targeted to...PL clubs and viewers.Maybe not in the Premier League but they aren’t the only clubs in England.
Premier league has to keep the teams in the leagues below happy as well. It’s no dictatorship yet.Well this a PL only deal right for Prime? So yeah, that's who it is targeted to...PL clubs and viewers.
As long as there's promotion/relegation, the Championship will be happy-ish. The lower leagues not so much because they feed off scraps. The football system in England is extremely oversaturated, but that's part of the sporting culture in England and I wouldn't change it at all. I understand how important they are as centers for community well-being and consistency.Premier league has to keep the teams in the leagues below happy as well. It’s no dictatorship yet.
Don’t get me wrong I think it’s crazy that no match going fan living in Great Britain is legally allowed to watch man united or any other team for that matter at 3pm on a Saturday due to these archaic rules and I think many arguments have been put forth to argue against them but nonetheless whilst the rules are it isn’t changing any time soon.As long as there's promotion/relegation, the Championship will be happy-ish. For sure...it's mind-boggling and leaves everyone speechless as to why the rules are still as they are when there are countless real-life examples of inclusive viewing, as much as possible, is always better.Don’t get me wrong I think it’s crazy that no match going fan living in Great Britain is legally allowed to watch man united or any other team for that matter at 3pm on a Saturday due to these archaic rules and I think many arguments have been put forth to argue against them but nonetheless whilst the rules are it isn’t changing any time soon.
