Maybe it wasn't his fault, but it seems like his basic technique when he dives is bad.
Today again he looked very clumsy on the goal.

You cannot win any competition with a unreliable goalkeeper.

Look at how he communicates with the defence. No one in the team trusts him and it creates hesitation and chaos because you never know what the feck your keeper is going to do.

How many games this season have we lost by conceding from 1-2 shots on target?

Shaw is a dimwit and has to go as well but any competent keeper keeps that out.

I’d make goalkeeper a priority signing
By far. Horrible player, absolutely brings the confidence level of his teammates down with his terrible positioning and technique. He’s got no fundamentals in place.

Thinking about him in goal made me nervous before the game, so Christ knows what it does to his teammates.

Not much he could do about the goal.

Bruno, Mazraoui, Maguire and Shaw should all have done better.

Probably played a big part in Maguire and Shaw's hesitation for their goal.

I think we seriously need to think about replacing him. We can sell him back to Ajax when Ten Hag takes over them, right?

He wasn’t at fault for the goal, for me, but he was caught out a couple of times in the first half. He’s not great. I wouldn’t be in here complaining if he’s an academy prospect or a cheap punt, but the delta between expected performance for the transfer fee and actual performance is way too wide.

He seems to always be on the wrong end of unlucky goals doesn't he.

I think it boils down to him

1. Not having good reaction speeds (he seems to get completely thrown by a slight deflection or a weird bounce)

2. Being short, doesn't have the long limbs of a Van Der Sar

3. Not particularly agile. Looks heavy and awkward even when he does make a save

How?

If you don't trust the keeper to deal with it, any semi competent defender deals with the danger themselves. Like Dorgu did, then bollocked him for not talking.

Need to get rid but that goal was not on him...
Not going to put the blame on him but his dive was still awkward as feck, it’s looked like he was diving into his own goal as he was trying to claw it away. He lacks the fundamentals as a keeper. He cannot be our no.1 next season.

If he's our number one next season I'll be asking for a refund on my season ticket

Agree...

Probably the only player the pitch that did nothing wrong tonight, there was nothing he could do on the goal when Shaw put it in his own net

Van der ven was a better goalkeeper than him ffs.

Please, please, please dont't let him stay as a United player next season. Especially with AFCON next season we should push for a new no.1 who will play the whole season and be part of yet another restart.

Don’t think he was to blame for the goal but a couple of occasions where his communication got mixed up with the defenders just doesn’t inspire confidence.

Surely two seasons here is enough? I’d be amazed if he stays here.

Correct...

However there was a moment in the first half where Yoro had 2 Tottenham attackers on his arse and all Onana had to do was come out to gather the ball in his box, instead stayed rooted to his line which forced Yoro into making a hurried clearance.
Another where he failed to yell out to Dorgu to leave an incoming cross which deflected off him forcing us to concede a corner.

It's things like this that can cause unecessary goals to be conceded and why so many here feel he's absolutely not fit to be a goalkeeper at this club. I wouldn't even have him as backup.

He did the same v Lyon at OT for one of their goals. I think we are lumbered with him sadly.

I mean just look at the comparison in keepers tonight. We’re all on edge with this guy in goal, Spurs were comfortable. Just having confidence in your keeper inspires that comfort.

Whether you want to point fingers at him for the goal or not, he is a massively unsettling presence for the backline. He unnerved them from the start of the game and a lot of the flapping that was going on was down to the defensive line neither trusting or believing in him. Normally, zany keepers might be one or the other, rarely both, but he's got it. The full house.

Hope the Villa graveyard of a game is the last time he is seen for this club.

Yet their keeper looked nervous and almost gifted us the equaliser..

Whether or not Onana should've come and collected that (I think he should've), Yoro caused his own problems there. He could've passed it back to Onana before his initial turn, or out to Shaw after that.

Why does he dive backwards he could have just taken a step towards where the ball was going instead of the stupid slow motion leap
