Sounds like typical Bailey bullshit. He mentions Al-Shabab because it's one of the rich clubs with a foreign roster spot, and he says all the other rich clubs are interested (of course) but they'd need to get rid of a foreign player to recruit Onana, as most of them already have too many foreign players.
He was absolutely shite in his final couple of seasons. No idea why you are pretending he was good in that period. I love Dave but his time was done. That's true. The point I'm trying to make is that, just because we signed an absolute clown to replace him, doesn't mean we are rewriting history when saying he was pretty solid in his last season. He was, and it was a stupid risk to get rid of him and we were never going to get a Courtois.
Yeh bang on.It’s just rose tinted glasses. People tend to remember the good and filter out the bad, and due to Onana being an utter calamity of a goalkeeper people have romanticised De Gea’s time here. Those last few years were really rough and he cost us a lot of points. Still got a lot of time for him though, he was super for us in his prime.
Yea they just bought the GK from Kyiv. The rich Saudi teams already have too many foreign players they can't register their new recruits without having to unregister older ones. Al-Hilal paid off the last year of Mitrović's contract at €25M just so they could register Núñez.Al-Shabab signed a Ukrainian GK in January, so unless they can move him on they aren't going to waste a second foreign roster spot on another one!
I don't think the news is legitimate.Very good news. Hopefully he is quickly disposed of
We can always send him to Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, or Al-Kebabs for all I care but he shouldn't be third choice... that position belongs to our disciplinary committee Tom Heaton. Would anyone think of him? the poor man. To be 4th in GK order is a total disrespect.
But it's a question of priorities. I agree that we needed to upgrade but there were bigger priorities than upgrading ddg when we did. We were suckered into doing it by our charlatan manager and an overblown sense of the difference that a ball playing goalkeeper has. Yes, having a keeper that's comfortable with the ball at his feet is useful, even moreso in today's game, but somehow the actual importance was magnified to the point where we neglected other more important and pressing issues.
It’s pretty clear that Lammens is now our number 1.I don't think the news is legitimate.
No time for Lammens to settle and Bayindir our #1?
I think Onana goes in Jan or next summer
I watched Joao Felix hat trick in Saudi this morning. The keeper he was playing against was about 5ft6 an and looked like he had never played in goal before.
Maybe Onana could be backup for him.

Al-Hilal are buying Matthieu Patouillet from Lyon.

feck sakeHe brought 16 players during his reign. Only Mount and Casemiro are functionalETH really did screw us over.
Interested teams probably watched the Grimsby match tape since it's his most recent performance. It seems like any team that even remotely looks Onanas way about getting him, ends up looking elsewhere. Like they see and know something our stupid (at the time) transfer department didn't or just ignored.
ETH really did screw us over.

My bad. I keep thinking the first 3 were post-ETH.
Very surprised on Leonardo. I thought he looked very promising a couple of years back. Hasn't kicked on i suppose?Yea they just bought the GK from Kyiv. Players like Marcos Leonardo, Renan Lodi or Otávio have not been registered by their teams and won't play this season. If I was Man Utd I'd keep an eye on Marcos Leonardo and Otávio's situations, they could be bargains in January or even before (I wouldnt be surprised if they got bought out).

Licha is not very available, constantly injured
True but he has still started more games than Mount overall.
Mount signed a year later. Not really a comparison.
One has been at the club 50% longer. Perhaps if you looked at % of games played. But your argument as presented is doesn’t work.Yes it is a comparison. Mount has played 51 games for the club, Lisandro has played 91 games for the club.
How did we end up paying 50m for this guy? He's been doing this shit since his Ajax days

Rubbish. This rewriting of history as a result of the hipsters' pick not working out needs to stop. He was not 'abysmal', give your head a wobble.Replacing De Gea was an absolute necessity at the time. He was abysmal.

He had 29 goals in 43 for Al-Hilal last season and he looked very good at the Club World Cup where he scored 4 in 5. They have 12 foreign players with a 10 limit so guys like Leonardo and Lodi can't be registered and Mitrović had to be bought out, if not for the limit he'd certainly be on the list and most likely starting. I doubt Leonardo or Lodi will accept to sit out the season and hope for a roster spot to open next summer.Very surprised on Leonardo. I thought he looked very promising a couple of years back. Hasn't kicked on i suppose?

Hes the reason Tottenham beat them in the CL semi finalHow did we end up paying 50m for this guy? He's been doing this shit since his Ajax days
You can't just throw him in day 1.
He hasn't faced premier league clubs yet in his career.
Set pieces he will be up against it if he just starts at city.
He needs time maybe a fa cup game or two imo.

Kind of my point though.... This Onana we are seeing is apparently how he has been, maybe worse, but still he's always had these mistakes in him. How those in charge when he came to us didn't see this, is astounding. They might be looking at how he did for us
