I wonder what the whiff was when Hojlund got more abuse than anyone on this forum last season. Or Maguire in the past, Mason Mount has gotten more than his fair share at times.

Like any profession you ask for a raise when you know that your work performance has been good. Onana was deluded to think that his performance warranted a pay rise

A disaster if a goalkeeper if we're being honest. He had spells where he was decent but when it matter must he let us down badly. His form seems to be getting worse and worse.
I'm not sure how he ever would hwve recovered his reputation with me fully after that run of champions league games where he pretty much single-handedly knocked us out. It was insane to see.
Even when he wasn't making blatant mistakes, his saving technique seemed poor and he often knocked it back into dangerous areas.
That Grimsby game was just the cherry on the cake of his time here.
I hope this loan goes through and then we can sell him off somewhere at the end of that. I've no desire to see him in goal for us again.

It didn't work out but I can understand why EtH went for him. Onana was exposed by a awful midfield and defence too.
And we need to remember that a big part of this change as well is the Africa Cup of Nations issue as he could be away at least 4 weeks.

The performative outrage about his agent asking for a pay rise 2 years into a contract (pretty standard and inoffensive) is ridiculous.
He was poor and is now on his way out.
The only reason why we stuck with him for so long was his fee. Taibi wasn't the third most expensive goalkeeper in the world.

He's been rubbish, acted in a silly way, and it's rightly being lambasted by fans of the club. If you find racism there then that's possibly an issue you have.
Of course people are within their rights to ask for a pay rise at work but usually you don't ask for one straight after punching fresh air and letting in goals again as per usual it would be like me asking for a raise straight after not turning up or doing half days.
It’s really not ridiculous as I said to you in a different reply in any profession you’d ask for a pay rise if your performance warrants it. He’s asking for a pay rise when his performances have been nothing short of shocking, and when people have been laid off, is frankly deluded from him and his agent.
One of your previous posts was suggesting that people were posting against him for reasons other than his poor performances, if so, show them as proof of what you’re seeing to stop making unfounded accusations of members

We need to give him the Hojlund treatment and directly tell him that his time here is done. He’s made too many mistakes and his performances been too erratic to be considered a Manchester United goalkeeper. Thanks for your efforts here but it’s time to find a new club.

You probably think it’s fine for a corporate employee who cost his company millions of dollars worth of losses due to his incompetence only to turn up on a sweet Monday morning asking for a raise. There’s nothing to argue with that sort of thinking.

He can't have been that far away though. As I recall - Westerveld was the most expensive when he signed for Liverpool for £4 million - and Taibi joined a month or so later and became the most expensive in the P.L
The world record transfer for a goalkeeper at the time was only £7 million - Pagliuca to Juve 1994. Marchegiani had the previous record by £6 million from the season before. And I don't think there were that many more goalkeeper transfers from 1993-1999 in Spain or Italy where the fee was over £4.5 million
So he may not be the 3rd most expensive - but he was certainly well inside the top 10
Anyone remember the game Onana stood to his right of the goal, pointing to his the left. (Vs Haaland). Haaland went to Onanas left and Onana went to his right. That’s his character. A big too big for his boots and lacks real quality and concentration. He’s a dud.
We should have realised our mistake after the Bayern Munich CL game. He was an absolute disaster and should have been under a microscope. 3 years on... still here. Howard was nowhere near as bad as this guy and as far as I know, he was at the club for 2 years before leaving.

There's nothing wrong with trying to play games and put the penalty taker off, so that by itself isn't something to criticise for. The only issue I had is that he stupidly played those games to City's stronger penalty takers then did nothing to their weaker ones. Surely you'd save the shenanigans for the players that are probably already more nervous and likely to miss.

Let's be honest, if he came into pre-season asking for a raise, then of course he's going to still think he's #1 here and not go on loan to a small club in Turkey. The best bet here is that a Saudi club moves for him on a permanent and he's attracted to earning more than he could here.

A disaster of a goalkeeper, really. His technique is bizarre for a top level goalkeeper too, a lot of flaws in some of his basic saves.
What's the latest on this? Has Onana accepted the loan and the terms?
