Good attitude and all, but ultimately I dont think he has the talent to succeed here, we can’t get rid of him this window since we are really slim on midfield, but we should sell him next summer.

Not good enough.

Hopefully when he does play, Ole doesn't continue to use out him wide.

He’s not a central midfielder. I’m not really sure what position he can play. Didn’t he play mainly out wide when he was in Spain? Whatever. He’s clearly not capable of playing the position we’re playing him in. And he knows it. Hence he resorts to some fairly nasty, cynical fouls. It’s actually tough to watch.

He played RW today - which is definitely not his position.

He played his best at 10 in front of Pogba and McTominay. Think it was Vs Spurs.

But generally seems he's okay but that's not good enough.

Taking his quality or lack thereof aside, has there been a bigger shithouse of a player for us than Pereira in recent years. He spends half the game giving away freekicks by lunging into tackles or just kicking the heels of players. To make it worse he seems to have no form of sportsmanship at all, he almost always ignores handshakes from fellow pros and looks to pick fights after ignoring them.

Onto his actual quality, he is a nothing player. Good shot and set pieces but he is a total liability on and off the ball. Has zero positional sense, careless with the ball and most importantly a foul machine who is terrible in defensive phases of play.

His contract extension was an embarrassment and if we are relying on him to be a valuable member of our midfield we are fecked.
This sums up Perreira. Everything you just said there we can go back through the forums and find someone that says the exact same thing about him every year. He’s a nothing player. A cleverly.

He shut down our right side of the field today

He’s aggressive but can’t really tackle, will pick up needless yellows. He can spot a pass and is generally good in a fluid final third, but I think his only decent position is as a #10, so if Dybala comes, he’ll be out I’d assume.

He’s definitely not a centre midfielder and not a wide player either (though he did play at a lower level there in La Liga).

Its difficult to figure out what kind of a player he is or can be. Someone who confused me similarly when they just started with the main team was Jesse and it took time for him to figure out how to contribute.
This is a very crucial year for him. He has played probably 2 or 3 times for us where he really looked something. He knows this is it. Lingard showed that he can be useful enough to be carried as a squad player. He is not there yet, and I hope he can be.

I think he is at his best as a #10, a Bruno Fernandes type incidentally as his best skills are being energetic and shooting from range and having a good cross on him, but he's just nowhere near good enough for United unfortunately. And as he is a bit of a liability whenever he plays anywhere else that isn't as a pure #10, there's no real point to keep him here as it just takes away potential minutes from Gomes, while Lingard is better than Pereira at that position as well as having Mata (also useless though) and presumably bringing in Dybala. He's just rarely going to play unless it's to fill in during cup games.

Ole cannot persist with playing him out wide. He's better off playing Greenwood or James there as Pereira offers nothing out wide or even central.

He gets chance after chance but does nothing to disprove the notion that he is bang average. It's all good and well putting tackles in and playing aggressively but looks to me like he's Lee Cattermole level.

Good energy today, he presses well for the team and does a job. Nice that he got to show his quality too with the Beckham-esque ball for Martial.

He got a good assist but I just don't see how he's good enough.

I think he plays on the fringes of the game far too much. He’s a good footballer but he just doesn’t show himself or get involved. Almost had a free role today and you can’t have someone like him in that sort of role when he refuses to express himself. Also gives away too many fouls. Great cross for the goal though.
Better off sticking Matic or Fred in there and releasing Pogba.

He has that bit about him, even when quiet he can pull off a beautiful bit of play.

He needs minutes now. Hope he kicks on from this.

Its not a 'free role' when he is running and pressing much more than our midfielder Pogba, in the sense that you are expressing seems like he plays like Ozil or something

Honestly I don't think he has the quality to be starting in midfield for us, that midfield performance was shocking the first half and even when we showed up in the second he looked a quality below even McTominay I thought.

Doesn't really do much. Not a fan, would prefer Gomes deeper and Pogba further forward.

Good bit of quality for the goal at right wing. If he had a bit more athleticism he might make it there, but I don't see it for him in the middle.

No reason why he can’t be a rotational player. Has ability but not a lot of influence & presence to be a main starter in my opinion.

Fantastic cross for Martial's goal, good pressing in the build up to Rashford's. Still, harsh as it sounds, I don't think he did anything I can't see other attackers in the squad producing. If it's between him and James wide right, it's James. Him and Jesse at #10, it's Jesse.

He is weird, has the tools. Can spot a pass and it pull off as he has shown. But he let's the game pass him by, he rarely does anything special when he has possession.

Great cross it has to be said. Ran around a lot too but he looked like a headless chicken out there without possession and was pretty invisible when we had the ball

He wasn't very good. Played like Herrera during a bad game, but has never shown he can play as well as Herrera. Great cross on him though.

Other than his ability to whip in a nice cross from time to time, I honestly don't see what he brings to the table. Nice assist but up until that point, I thought him and Lingard were absolutely anonymous.

Started well enough, good dead ball specialist but needs to improve his all round game then he could really do a job for us on the right side of midfield.Slight improvement over Mata I’d say but not by much.Gives us more legs in the midfield than Mata.(not ragging on Mata by the way)

Bar the cross I thought he was pretty poor sadly. Hopefully he can grow in to it

Cam here to pretty much say the same. Good squad player to have but we need someone better as a regular starter.

I think he'll be at his best when we're looking to unlock defences that sit deep with a spark of creativity. Good assist today.

Re: him vs James. What I think Pereira wins out in in that battle is versatility. Pereira can play on the right jut slot into midfield when numbers are needed. I don't think James can. I do, broadly agree with you though.

Did well for the assist. With that being said, I don’t know what his best position is.

Great cross and tried his best but he was pretty rubbish, see value as a squad player but that’s it but we have a few too many of those.

He started the 1st game of the season last year v Leicester, I had a lot more hope for him last year than this year.

Wasn’t great. He reminds me a bit of Cleverley, he’s just a bit of a passenger really.

I like that he has that fire in him, there were moments where he pressed way more than Lingard

He lacks quality with the ball, defensively opposition player often run past him if he wasn't there hence at times he gives away silly fouls...although that didn't happen today but was very close on a few occasions.
