His future is as bright as his smile.
Looking forward to watching him play.

I have a feeling he will be a fan favorite in no time. He and his wife already remind me of Casemiro and his wife, especially after Santos' wife comments

That Chelsea lad reckons we will have a chant and love him by mid October. I get why he’d say that.

Yeah I thought he was our best player in the first half. Clever passer of the ball and good positioning.

Took him a few minutes to get into the game, but I thought he looked positive. Swept up well and playing forward quickly. Excited to see him pair with Mainoo/Tielemans later in preseason.

Tenacious off the ball yet composed on it. Seemed the most interested in playing quick forward passes which should materialise as he gels with his teammates.

What caught my eye was his world class first touch even when intercepting the ball. Can't coach that past their formative years.

Keeps himself well positioned off the ball and wants to get it forward when he gets it. Fairly promising signs.

Looks alright. Doesn’t look 5ft11 though

Meaningless training match to comment about him. We need to see how he fares in the first ten or so league fixtures before forming coherent opinions.

Gets stuck in off the ball but also decent on it. It'd be nice if that is what he is as we've lacked that a fair bit.

Not that it was the strongest United team, but he definitely looked United's best player in the fast half. His passing was quick and sharp. He didn't just admire his passes but also immediately moved to make himself available for a return. He made a number of key defensive interventions.

I really would wonder about those who failed to see the obvious class he displayed.

I don't think he was standing out in terms of quality (Mount was probably the only one), but I really liked how involved he was.

Looked exactly how I imagined - based on description on here of course. Comfortable in deep midfield, making himself available for a pass and moving the ball left right and center with passing rather than carrying the ball.

Defensively sound, covers ground well. All in all pretty solid base of the midfield.

Some bad giveaways but he tracks the ball well defensively and had some nice interceptions. Couple decent passes through the line. Liked dropping very deep central in possession. Might suit Licha well carrying it out and getting it forward.

Good buy. It looks like he will be quite a gem given his young age and outstanding ability.

Even Luke Shaw turns out to be a fair bargain. Pretty sure Santos can do better.

He was good defensively and seemed to cover ground well. Some of his passes weren't quite as crisp as you'd want (a couple of times he unnecessarily chipped passes to players instead of along the ground which made it more difficult for them to get it under control), but overall it was a fairly good debut in the first game of preseason. Looking forward to seeing more to come.

He looked forward to find some passes which is encouraging to suggest he has the right skillset to take over from Ugarte, but other than that like the rest of the team still a bit to be desired

Look forward to seeing him when Tielemans is fit, Bruno back from World Cup break and new CDM signed

Hes going to be a good signing I think

I think there is a lot riding on this signing , can telling nothing so far from one preseason friendly in which everyone was poor.

But how he settles and performs I think will have a big bearing on our season. Hopefully he has the ability and the character to handle the scrutiny he will be under.

Interesting take - I agree he's going to be over relied on, but we've signed a top quality midfielder in Youri who's set to take a lot of that responsibility. Imagine we're going to sign another midfielder too, so that's the load shared with at least Mainoo, Youri and the third signing

He's only 22 as well - 11 months older than Mainoo.

Excited to see more of him, some solid tackles and interceptions and neat passing. More of a 6 in that pivot.

At Chelsea he was almost playing CB at times, he does like to drop in deep when they’re defending. Wasn’t sure if it was by instruction or his own habits.
