It's worse than that - Ugarte is out for most of the season with his ACL injury - you're subbing in a Collyer or Fletcher twin instead if we don't bolster the midfield squad depth.

If United don't get a 3rd midfielder we will leave ourselves short when we have injuries.

I would also call it half arsing the recruitment if we don't being in the 3rd midfielder, United have been doing this for far too long under the glazers.

I'm glad he had a good game yesterday but it's only pre season and Rosenberg. Once the season starts the quality of opposition will be vastly superior. I'm not saying Santos isn't good enough but I don't think we have the evidence yet that he's enough to not need a marquee signing.

He was a solid option for Chelsea last season so don’t see why he wouldn’t be for us.

He brings a lot of the things we needed as a team, combative, positioning and a good first time forward pass. He cleans up second balls in front of the defence really well and blocks passing lanes and channels where we have been vulnerable on for a while now. Very good purchase especially in the current market.

I really hope this the path that we continue to take. Purchasing players based on attributes that will benefit us rather than if they are classed by the media/masses as marquee or big money.

Obviously it’s very early doors and the opposition and pace the games are being played aren’t top level.

But the way he plays with the ball reminds me of Keane, the over simplified touch and pass, more often than not forward.

I actually don't think that's an issue. We had £80m for Mateus Fernandes. We're just very selective on who we spend big on.
