Considering he wasn't replaced I think we should of at least pushed for a player in the deal, similar to how we conducted ourselves with de gea.
Depay was his replacement.

The price we got from PSG was fair, especially after the season he just had. We overpaid because we had to in our situation at the time.

We had plans to sign depay long before di maria left, before the season even ended. We had depay and LVG still said that ADM was apart of his plans for this season and that he wanted him to stay.

ADM only indicated to lvg that he wanted to leave during the summer nearing the end of the copa america. Then the pedro links started.

Yes that's exactly my point, the price was fair not good. Only a good price for psg while we made a loss.

No he wasn't. Long after we signed depay LVG said he wanted di maria to stay when the rumours of him leaving started to gain momentum, he also said that ADM was apart of his plans for this season, when he left louis once again spoke about our lack of pace on the wings and then the pedro saga began.

If anything it's more likely that pedro was his replacement.

Terrible ? He got the highest assists for our whole team, created the most chances ? Purely from a statistical standpoint there were things to justify a higher price. 44M for di maria may be a fair deal but it's not a good deal for utd, it is for psg though.
It's £44m for a player who had one excellent season and was badly out of form for a year. How you can straightaway conclude that this is a good deal for PSG baffles me. If he goes on to be poor for PSG will it still be a great deal for them because they got him cheaper than what United paid?

Oh, the assist card again . Watch football instead of checking numbers in Excel, makes for a much better assessment tool. He was very poor last season for United.

Torres was actually a valid example. Chelsea would have been delighted to get even £25m for him after his failures but if you were in charge you would have demanded £50m because it is impossible to sell players cheaper than you bought them for.

Firstly Di Maria was definitely bad enough to lose that much of his value. A footballers career is short, relatively, and one very poor season is enough to lose a lot of value.

Secondly, you're wrong if you think us overpaying for him in the first place isn't a factor. Once you overpay or underpay for something, it doesn't impact the market value. By your logic, if we bought someone cheap, should that mean we should be happy to sell him for less than market value just because of our initial investment? Also your argument that he is worth more to us because we paid more is inherently flawed because by your logic, the amount he was therefore worth to us at the end of the season was the amount we accepted when we sold him, the 45m.

We should have sold Ronaldo for £30m maximum because we only paid £11m for him. Real Madrid were fools to buy him for £80m.

Manchester United are in a better place now to hear the woes of Angel Di Maria. David De Gea has signed his new Manchester United contract, Anthony Martial has scored his first Manchester United goal and the team were impressive in the second half against Liverpool at the weekend.

Even so, it's got to be a little irritating that Di Maria has taken opportunity to whine about his life at Manchester United. The Argentine international has spoken to French newspaper Le Parisien and as well as telling them how happy he is at PSG, he's painted the picture of how unhappy he was at Manchester United.

When asked if it was true if he was unhappy in Manchester, Di Maria told Le Parisien "Honestly, we were not happy. In the beginning, yes, a little. Then things got complicated. Life in England was a little difficult. It is not easy for a South American. Some do it very well. And for others, adaptation is more difficult. I didn't have a very good relationship with the coach (Manchester United's Louis van Gaal), so I think the decision to join Paris was the best solution."

Di Maria said that his move from PSG to Manchester United was also him fulfilling some kind of destiny after FFP stopped him joining the French club the previous summer.

When quizzed on the famous burglary attempt, Di Maria put that down as another reason for his unhappiness at Manchester United. Asked if he was deeply traumatised by the incident, Di Maria said "Yes, and my family more. From then, it wasn't reasonable to stay there. My family was not well, my daughter suffered. So the most important thing was to leave."

Le Parisien put it to Di Maria that he'd find a calmer life in Paris that at Manchester United and the footballer agreed with them, saying it was more like Spain or Portugal. The newspaper's fawning continues to letting Di Maria know how impressed they are that he shops in supermarkets - like a normal human being.
