When was the last time we had 2 players scoring 20 plus goals?
Believe it or not, in 2010-2011 (Berbatov had 21 while Hernandez had 20). We were close in 2012-2013 (RVP scored 30, Hernandez had 19) and in 2013-2014 (RVP scored 18 while Rooney had 19).

Finally this year, this seem to change (assuming no injuries of course).

He needs to break another of this jinx by scoring 20 in the league, 6 needed in remaining 7 games. No one has done this since RVP on same 12-13 season.

Would be tough but with the fixtures we have he can do it. Rashford could also! 25 in all competitions for each of them could also be achievable which would be brilliant.

And to think Jose wanted to sell him and get Willian! The thought alone makes my chest feel tight.

He's passed his personal best at United by 2.

Martial also seems to be on a good home goal scoring run. I think he's scored in his last 3 straight home games in the PL.

Give Solksjaer a lot of credit for his development.

If we can get between 15-18 goals in remaining games, I can see Martial hitting the 20 mark. That will also set him and Rashford up nicely for the Europa league fixtures.

Has anyone seen his post match interviews yet? I can’t recall ever seeing him talk before but they are quite interesting. His English is decent as well. Mentions how he just needs to score goals and that Ole will have liked his first two goals. Mentions they are proper number 9 goals.

Ole’s words about him are quite interesting as well talking about how his pressing goes really unnoticed.

All his goals were great today and I kinda feel like he should have had two more. If Rashford scores then it’s a great bit of play but I kinda feel like he probably needs to be a bit more selfish there. There is another one just before the end of the first half where the space kinda opens up and he plays it in to Bruno. Feel like he could have gone himself there.

Was a brilliant all round performance though and hopefully there is more to come with actual decent chances being created for the front 3

In an alternate universe, we'd be seeing Willian and Perisic on the wings hoofing it to Lukaku up front in the hopes of staying in the top half of the table. Pogba, Rashford and Martial all sold for peanuts. Greenwood never seeing the light of day. Bruno Fernandes smashing it at Spurs. The darkest timeline.

Does he remind anyone else of Berbatov?

Maybe just me, but as a striker, his style and some of his finishing is very similar. That lob today reminded me of Berbatov

I just want to forget the dark times under Mourinho.

Another great call by Ole to first deploy Martial as a centre forward, secondly to give full trust in his ability and not spending huge sums on Lukaku's replacement

Premier League hat trick. Think he scored his first one in 06/07 and then didn't score another until Ronaldo left.
Yeah he had a hat-trick vs Bolton in the 2006-2007 season.

And I think his next hat-trick in the league came in the 2009-2010 season. Forgot vs who. Might have been vs Wolves when he bagged 4.

A lot of our attacking players do have a good understanding with each other.

This is nice to see. Martial + Rashford, Rashford + Pogba, Martial + Pogba, Martial + Bruno, etc.

Don’t forget getting rid of Pogba for Milinkovic-Savic (has he done anything noteworthy this season?)

We were so very close to having an attacking quintet of Lukaku, being flanked by Willian and Perisic, being fed by Felliani and Milinkovic-Savic.

And to think members of our own fanbase were upset that Jose wasn’t allowed to make this happen.

So happy for him. As much as people want to slate him for certain little things, this is his first real season as a striker since he arrived in Manchester. Surely even more to come from him and I'm really looking forward to it.

Where are all haters with their stupid agenda?

Non-Penalty Goals per 90 — Big Teams:
0.86 – Agüero
0.62 – Jesus
0.59 – MARTIAL
0.59 – Abraham
0.58 – Aubameyang
0.58 – Mané
0.56 – Vardy
0.51 – Salah
0.51 – Sterling
0.46 – Kane
0.42 – Son
I think you are missing a few on that list. You already have Abraham, Jesus and Mohamed. You also have the Son. Where is Moses and Adam?

Benzema is a really apt comparison. Maybe not quite the same workrate but certainly that style. If he keeps developing he could very much turn into that kind of player.
Pretty good comp.

I think Martial is a better natural finisher than Benzema too.

His three finishes showed different aspects of his game today. The first was pure instinct, the second was composure and anticipation in the box around multiple defenders, the third was just pure silky smooth skill. His runs off the ball were precise and well-timed, and I think people often ignore the fact that he's not as bad as he's made out in his runs, but they often would get ignored if Pogba didn't have the ball at his feet. With this midfield, he will find more runs to make and will get released into dangerous opportunities. He should be well confident next time he plays, but the knives will be out again if he doesn't follow through.

Crazy to think he still has a chance to hit 20 league goals and maybe even make a run at the Golden Boot. With how our attack looked today, I think he'll have plenty of chances coming his way.

He is a frustrating player that’s for sure. But you can see he has so much potential. He reminds me a lot of Berbatov. Skilful yet lazy. I feel if Martial put in a bit more effort and made a few more runs he’d add a lot to his game. He seems to be coming on but only time will tell. Can’t believe that’s our first united hatrick since RVP 7 years ago!

Listening to Owner still harping on about how Man United fans would be asking themselves if they need a signing it'll be a striker. Then goes on about how inconsistent Martial is and all the usual cliche they love spouting.

Meanwhile since the start of 2020 no player has scored more than Martial in the PL and Martial has been consistently scoring for us now for a while. It's amazing how lazy punditry is now with these guys stuck regurgitating the same narrative they start with about a player.

If Martial hasn't been consistent and not scoring regularly(which isn't true for a while now) what do we make the rest of the strikers in the league who haven't found the back of the net as much as him in 2020. These people are something

Dude on a goal scoring run. Scored against the likes of Chelsea and City during that run while also putting numbers against lesser teams yet he's still called inconsistent because he didn't score in some games in between or might not score next game. What about other teams strikers, why do they get a pass for not scoring in loads of games?

I actually agreed with what Souness said after the game, for once. If Martial had the same enthusiasm for the game as the likes of Rashford, or showed this enthusiasm if he does have it, then he'd be a different animal.

Excellent performance, loved how pleased he looked with his night's work, what I dug about the hat-trick was it was a real #9's hat-trick.

I think Henry is the better comparison, Benzema is like a French Rooney. Like Rooney, but with better finesse.
