Premier League rule changes for 26/27 season

• Players receiving treatment or assessment on the pitch must now stay off for at least one minute (previously 30 seconds).
• Referees will use a five-second countdown for throw-ins and goal kicks. Delayed restarts can result in possession/restart being awarded to the opposition.

I support all of this. Hopefully this and the fact that he now has a PL win will nudge Arteta back to playing a more attacking style like he did a few years agon and Saka and Odegaard remain healthy and regain some form.

You can be sure they’ll find ways to give a second yellow to a player being substituted because he took 15 seconds to get off the field.

Next they should give refs the power to card players who confront them aggressively or maybe the ability to force managers to stay in their technical areas.

That's not happening. We will just have more reasons to complain/discuss/argue about through the season.

Never been sure about this, it basically rewards the team who has injured one of your players with a tackle by giving them a man advantage for a minute.

If you want to stop so much faking injury, let the game continue when a player is down and they can wait for a break in play for treatment. Let the ref use common sense on whether it's a serious injury or not, if it's serious he can choose to stop the game. And that goes for "head injuries" too, players are gaming the system by holding their face/head over nothing and getting the game stopped immediately as they know the refs aren't allowed to ignore it. Let the ref use his brain, if there's a serious head injury he'll stop the game.

I don't like the wording of "can result" instead of "will result". A lot of those sound black and white, yet the wording suggests it's at the referees discretion. It opens each one up to more inconsistency.

Substitutes are already supposed to leave the field by the nearest touchline, but it's so rarely enforced. I find it hard to believe a 10 second rule will be applied across the board.

Imagine your team being so toxic and unhealthy for football that the literal rules of the sport need to be changed so that you don't ruin it.

Arsenal has become such a blemish on the PL. Really only one category below the likes of City and Chelsea.

1. We take forever to take any throw in

It's infuriating watching teams take ages for throws and goal kick and this looks a simple solution if applied.

If they could also stop players nicking 10 yards every throw that'd be great. Seems less of a problem at Premier league level but every single game in league 1 it's evident.

How you deal with keepers just lounging on the ground pretending to be injured I don't know though. Aside from adding way more time on. And if they can't delay goal kicks and free kicks they'll end up faking more injuries.

Given that the referee has to concentrate throughout the 90 minutes, arguably more than any one player, should we have dedicated people counting these times so the ref can also have a breather at some point?

I used to be hugely critical of refs, but with all the tech they are now wearing, being expected to talk in front of 50k+ people, and now this, I don't think we are giving them the best chances of making correct calls anymore.

Not sure this will be enough. They'll just push the opposition player into his own Goalkeeper to skate by, they have done this many time this season

For me, only way to solve this problem is to either:

1. No personnel is allowed inside 6 yard penalty box except GK and maximum of two defender on each post or
2. Any attempt to not compete for the ball and just holding an opposition player even if not GK should result in a foul

Hadn't seen the Scotland game, but they say Robertson has already broken the 5 second throw in rule. Apparently it doesn't kick in until you're holding the ball, so just leave it on the ground until you're ready!
