Antoine Semenyo | Manchester City Player

Apparently we wanted him in the summer but ended up going for Mbeumo.

Im happy with Mbeumo tbh.

Would have spent the Sesko money on Semenyo.

He's class.

Reckon it will take over £80m to get him away from Bournemouth (unless his contract is due or something)

I wanted him over Mbeumo (not to say I'm not v happy with the latter).

Hel probably end up at Newcastle sadly.

He renewed in the summer till 2030. So unless he has a buyout clause its going to be a fortune.

If we'd have bought Seymeyo instead of Cuhna would I now be wishing we'd have bought Cuhna instead of Seymeyo?

He looks pretty great. Sounds crazy to say this but the only downside is he's 26 (!) in January, I had him a few years younger in my head.

But yeah looks ready for a bigger club, no disrespect to Bournemouth who are flying.

Wealthy man Leao.

If we switch to formation with wingers again, that left wing position is open. Just saying.

Doubt it! At least if Semenyo was banging them in for us in a similar fashion so far. But would he? That's not to denigrate Cunha at all, he may very well turn out great. Good players the pair of them.

I don't think we viewed them in the same way, or that seems to be what many suspect. Cunha coming from that club who play the same sort of formation, seen as more of that 10 to begin with and a more natural fit by lots of people.

Personally not sure it matters too much, think good players are good players and that there's not huge differences between the wider 10 and a wing forward who cuts in a lot. Certainly take up the same part of the pitch often on heatmaps etc.

We're also trying to convert Mbeumo anyway, so if it does matter a lot then why did we buy him? Could or should have gone for Ismaila Sarr if plentiful experience of playing the exact widish 10 role was essential. I don't think it is.

Quite funny to think how pissed people in here was when we was linked to him this spring.

Let's buy him next year and ruin him like we've already done with Cunha and Mbeumo

If we go back to 4-3-3 he could play LW with Cunha more central

We’d probably play him at right back.

Last season he seemed like a more physically capable version of Garnacho, having a million shots but maybe not scoring quite enough to justify it.

This year so far, he's actually shooting less and scoring more, while getting assists too. Will be a class player if he keeps that up.

There is no point in doing the "IF" we buy this player instead of....

Mbuemo, Cunha are the equivalent of what Semenyo now and looks how they turns out. This time its more of the tactics and formation that cant make us play better and get better results.

If Amorim goes, I would love semenyo in a 3 with Cunha, mbeumo behind sesko. Obviously moving Bruno on as well. Then a midfield of elliot Anderson with Wharton. Fantasy i know

It's hard not to think about signing him instead of one of our two wing wide forward buys this season but that is being a prisoner of the moment. Cunha and Mbeumo are quality, you can't buy everyone.

What I do love about Semenyo is his combination of dribbling and finishing with either foot and in his power and that's a skillset few have, not just in the league but Europe too.

Hopefully he is our Rashford replacement. Cunha, Semenyo and Mbeumo is pure class.

Stayed with Bournemouth as he is happy there.
Good to see players showing loyalty to the clubs that give them an opportunity to shine!

please Wilcox or whoever is on it ,, go get him in the winter, the team will transform from having an actual footballer on the other side of the wingback.

Don't think they'll line up with 2 very offensive wingbacks in most games. Would probably be either Semenyo or Amad starting.

Probably, but in many games he would be an ideal left wingback instead of watching Dorgu or Dalot.
If he was £70M in the summer, feck knows how much he’ll be after the start he’s had. A disgusting amount

He probably has a release clause with his new contract. I doubt it would be stupidly high because he probably wouldn’t agree to it otherwise.

I don't think he'd want to sign to play wing back even if we wanted to try it.

Cracking player though

I agree, but there is possibly a better, cheaper fit that I’d expect us to go for. Who that’d be I don’t know.

Massive fan of Semenyo btw. He’s a great player, just not sure if it’s the correct player to buy for us next.

City under pep first time around really thrived with goalscoring wide forwards and it's something they've lacked. For all the trickiness of Doku his numbers just aren't there. Semenyo feels like a good pickup in that respect.

He was never coming here to play wing back. One of the biggest problem with Amorim that players don't like that position. That's why our pitch to Semenyo was left forward in a 433, which its reported Amorim agreed with.
