Antonio Conte | Napoli

With hindsight included there wouldn't have been anyone better to bring on after Ole was sacked, he always goes after a few of our rejects and he would have had the whole bunch of he came and his transfer demands would have also been met unlike what usually happens in the more financialy restricted Italian teams and spurs who are what they are.

Would it have been enough for a league title, would he have left us worse than he found us when it all inevitably went awry? Hard to say but he would have probably given it a decent go.
Don't be deceived. Our fans would have hated him. Especially how wedded he was to 3-4-3 at the time.

Yeah it would have been ugly, but he's undoubtedly among the very best coaches in the world, perhaps the best when it comes to purely domestic competitions as his record shows, he may have gotten something out of it.

And remember the football itself became pretty grim under ten hag and he never really lost the fan base's trust until results started going downhill in his second season.

Our fans just don't do well with change opposite to what they are used to. Thats why they didn't take to LVG.

Which Ten Hag wasn't (in terms of change from Ole's set up). Amorim is yet to fall foul of them due to his affable charisma. Plus he isn't confrontational. Conte is very similar to Mourinho. Our fans at the first sign of trouble woulda turned on him. Especially Because he would have openly clashed with out board over transfers. Plus openly chastised players who were wayward.

Its now post an Amorim he could work. Because he is now even more tactically flexible and INEOS are more competent transfer market operators than the prior crew.

Conte is a sure bet wherever the starting point is so low it can only go up, provided the players (the hierarchy and the fans) are not afraid of hard work, codified systems and discipline. United is an impossible job for so many reasons, though. He surely needs a very deep CL run or even a medal to cement his place among the fans... if you consider both Allegri and Inzaghi made the final game two times each, something is wrong (or just different... Conte is a builder, the other two are pilots).

Good post. Conte for a few years at this club would be quite entertaining.

Conte would be the best you could hope for.

Amorim has already taken the battles with the bad eggs, so he is taking on a more pliable squad and with his tactical versatility he's the best suited to take over a squad that's halfway through a shitty transition from 433 to 343 and determine what's the best way to get a turn out of this side.

You'd probably need an interrim till the summer though

Agreed that he’s the best out there.

I fear about his tendency to blow up though.

I've wanted Conte here for years but there's usually been an uproar every time his name was mentioned.

Maybe his haters are starting to realise he's actually a world class coach and a million miles better than our last 2 trendy managers.

I always felt like it was because people still cling to the idea of United being a place where managers call home and stay for 5+ years rather than understanding the modern reality.

I remember a few years ago Gary Neville saying Manchester United would never go for someone like Conte. I bet he's since changed his tune. We should be rolling out the red carpet for him.

Yeah I think he wouldn't have liked the stupid fan reaction tbh if he had have joined us a few years ago but he's a top coach and he doesn't suffer fools so I would have been delighted to have him personally. Would probably be even better now that our more dipshitty fans have perhaps been humbled somewhat and that we've got a better sporting structure in place. If I were him I'd probably prefer to stay at Napoli a while yet but got to be worth a chat surely if we could get him at the end of the year say.

Wanted him all the way back when we were considering permanent managers when Ole was in charge. Wonder how things would've turned out if we actually did hire him.

Most people who didn't want him said it was because his football was shit. That's why they wanted these trendy new gen managers like ten Hag and Amorim with their ultra stylish football   . What a bunch of crap that was.

Simeone Inzaghi > Conte
Simeone is an excellent manager but I really hate that guy.

Also, I don't watch his team enough to give a valid opinion but the few times I've seen them in big games, the football was the most cowardly I've ever seen.

The state of the Cnut here. Keano didn't suffer no fools  .

I’ve completely flipper on this guy.

We should be asking when he would come and sorting it out

Ideally, get Napoli top 4 so they are forced to buy Hojlund and then come and sort out shower of shit out

He's like Mourinho, he prefers experience over youth. He'll assemble a team that's competitive, but leave aging squad for the next guy.

If he'd come, I think best he could do is a domestic cup, maybe EL and top 4 finish. He couldn't perform miracles with Spurs, he wouldn't do it here neither.

Don't think I could stomach Conte. The football, preference for experience and eventually losing his mind

I am not sure if Conte is interested in another challenge in EPL after Chelsea and Spurs. The appeal to be the one successfully turn around United is strong for sure though.

That’s not Simone Inzaghi. That’s Diego Simone. The guy whose team just battered Real 5-2 last week. Yeah wouldn’t want that guy. We just got mullered by Brentford and Grimsby ffs!!

The same was said about Jose. It only took 3 years in the wilderness for us to come down from that particular high horse

My dad is from Naples originally so Napoli are a close second behind United for me. I watch all their games and they can be quite entertaining and show more heart and courage in 45 mins than these jokers do in 38 games. Conte would be a massive hiring for us.

Cant believe people dont want him because his style isnt entertaining. My foot.

We deserve Amorims and ETHs. No 2 way about it.

Obviously. Diego Simeone

The person I quoted possibly spelled Simone incorrectly so I misinterpreted it as Simeone & Inzaghi, not Simone Inzaghi.

People on here won't have Conte because he will be successful and leave in 2-3 years.
They would rather have managers failing miserably and getting sacked every 1-2 years.

Also those who are quoting his stint at Spurs, his PPG was still better than what we got. And comparing a small club like Spurs with us is a travesty in itself.

Conte is the only guy out there who can win us that league by 2028.

No one can offer any guarantees, but I'm sure as hell that we would be in a better position if we hired him when he went to Napoli.

He’s also not suited to just a back 3 as he’s playing a 4-1-4-1 with Napoli.
