I thought he was bad first half (like everyone) but was pretty good second half. Got forward quite a bit and created some chances (one for Martial and another a free header for Matic).

Thank you for your work rate and 100% commitment to the shirt, you’ve been a loyal servant but its time you’re replaced and accept a league cup run and back up as your ceiling!

Personally, I'd politely tell him to leave.
A new first choice RB and Mensah for next season.

A lot better in the second half. Instead of just standing and waiting for the ball, he mixed it up and ran beyond Chelsea.

Had a very good opportunity, following a great pass from Herrera, where he found himself in bags of room but couldn't do anything with it, unfortunately.

You put any RB in our side and they'd struggle. Our wide players tuck in side and the forward players stay central. We play so narrow it makes it so difficult for the full backs as they have the whole pitch to cover. Its also much easier to play against as the only option is to come inside.

We desperately need more width, and our wide players to stay wide. If not, whoever comes in (if we do sign a RB) won't be able to offer much more than Valencia does currently.

Anything more than a squad player next season and I'm giving up on the next season already.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
There was a 20-30 minute period in the second half which was the best he's played in ages. Looked like he actually decided that he really needed to try to force the issue himself, and he created a number of dangerous situations.

The thing is that we need that all the time, not for just half an hour in a few matches a season.

No. Valencia often stopped before they get their defensive organized, there are man united players in the box waiting for the cross but what he does? He just squared pass or backward pass to Herrera but much better in the second half.

We definitely need a new right back. Our attack from the right hand side is completely redundant due to Valencia and the need for a right winger.

Also it’s criminal that a professional footballer can be as one footed as Valencia. Opposing players just stand of him because they know 99% of the time he’s going on the outside. He’s afraid to touch the ball with his left foot.

I’m afraid Jose won’t be in for a right back. He probably happy with what Valencia offers.

The problem is that all these dangerous situations ended up as always, corner kick.

The reactions on here are stupid. He's not the problem we should be trying to solve. The lack of attacking play and cohesive football is

Valentina on his day is a good player BUT you we counted up the number of times he's not delivered or hit the first man? He'd be more prolific then Messi and Ronaldo combined. He's been a good player, not good enough to replace Ronaldo and 1 assist kinda sums him up. I'm surprised he got that many. Is not good enough. When you've no width, you need these full backs to produce and though Young had done not bad...not good enough.

One or two decent drives in the second half but cut it back to Sue Storm and was overall fairly ineffective.

Yeah but out wide IS a problem. If I was a striker or anyone and he had the ball? I wouldn't be confident he'd do anything productive with it. That's the problem. No productivity. The guy at this pomp, was still only smashing balls across the box. All that is, is probability. He's the worst full back in my time supporting the club. Defensively he's improved but offensively...him and Darmian are useless. If we want to play good football? And we have no real wingers...you NEED better full backs.

Too negative in here, but he certainly dallies on it when in a position you think he's going to either roast a fullback or deliver.

It used to frustrate the life out of us that Nani made the wrong decision so often, and Valencia always seemed to make the right one. But these days he just seems to stand still, dally and just view getting up the pitch as a positional thing, not an attacking opportunity.

Did he pass it forward once all game? You know whats coming before he gets the ball. Control it. Run a bit. Stop. Feint side to side a bit. Maybe run a bit further. Stop. Pass it back to Herrera or Smalling.

I think i preferred it when he used to smash it into the defenders shins.

Why does he persist in doing that weird feint from a completely stationary position like anyone is going to be fooled it - it's worse than a Phil Neville step over.

Would be a great squad player to keep but we need a proper RB, we attack down the wings often and his amount of poor crosses and lack of trying to beat his man is alarming.

Garbage as usual.

Offered the sum total of feck all going forward, to think we have had him stinking the place out on the wing now for nine years, just shocking really.

To put it into perspective how shit he is, we got rid of Nani 4 years ago.

And in those 4 years Valencia has managed to muster a whole 3 more career premier league assists than him (Nani 43 Valencia 46).

But but he’s been playing full back for the last couple of years you cry, full backs don’t get assists.
Graeme le Seaux 44 league assists.
Leighton Baines 53 league assists.

He is a shockingly average player.

Ashley Young has 67 assists by the way.

When Herrera played him with that great ball, he was trying so hard to cut it back you would think he saw someone to cut it back to. But instead he cut it back to a Chelasea defender.

He made it so much easier for Alonso, had he for example a touch forward, he would have made Alonso have to make a decison to let him go or tackle.

He constantly makes this weird decions that i just cant take anymore.

Jesus he is awful. Played like somebody who had been paid to sabotage our FA Cup hopes today. Some of the stuff he was doing was hard to believe. That cutback wtf? That back heel to Lingard wtf?

Very frustrating today. So many times he pretended he was going to try and take the defender on but instead passed backwards or sideways. Very limited

I really hope this is the last we see of him, not that it is personal on him. If we address the problem that we have absolutely no actual fullbacks in the squad (beside Shaw and Darmian) then we're at least going in the right direction. If he's fourth or fifth choice next season then we've at least addressed a more than glaring problem we have in our defense and I think the flow on effect will integrate with our offence, as well as returning Valencia to his rightful level. Going forward that will be a very big issue for Jose to sort out next year.

He needs to be binned for this alone, absolutely horrendous decision making.

He didn't have much in the way of defensive duties today. Disrupted our attacks and constantly. The only reservation or reason for his below-par performance I can make excuses for him was lack of targets in the Chelsea penalty area. Game to forget. Overall he's been fine this season having had to play without a partner on the right.

What was even more shocking in that situation, is how no one was in the box at that time to receive the pass.

Definitely one of the least intelligent player I watched playing for United for so long.

He's very poor lately.

Any opposition doing their homework would find it east against him, he literally does the same thing every time. Runs, stops, hesitates, back pass / gives ball away cheaply

Unfortunately Mourinho won't play Fosu Mensah because he's under 30. But hopefully it won't be Valencia there next season

Either Sanchez or Lingard should have pushed into the box as it was Rashford who played that ball for Valencia. It's like we never do any attacking drills in training. We never have enough players in the box for a cross.

He's been below par for a while now. A semi Competent FB would excel in the acres of space on the right flank
