I still think he will be out on loan again next season with more wages paid by the loan club. Doubt we will recover enough to meet PSR with his transfer but after another loan we might get enough.
Glad he’s doing well because I can’t wait to see the back of him. Couldn’t stand him in a United shirt - embarrassing signing for us.

Yes the EPL may be of higher quality across the board or demand greater physicality but Antony’s positive performances are also because he is playing under a more solid footballing structure both on and off the pitch. We tend to ruin players once we get them.

He's also just happier having left the club. Happier players perform better. Manchester can be miserable for someone who grew up sunny. Wouldn't normally matter but when you're feeling bad those things add on to it.

The media is terrible for you if you're a Manchester United player. It's not bad for you if you play for any other club in the country.

People around him are being fired. A person he used to see maybe every day coming into work isn't there anymore. Some footballers are heartless millionaires or just so stuck up their own arse that they don't care but he might.

Lastly the team is performing horribly and he can't even get a start. That weighs on the confident a lot in a downward spiral kind of way.

Lots of reasons that can drag a United player down and if they tick too many of those boxes then we end up with a bad team and he was partly a reason for us being a bad team because he couldn't rise above it.

100%. You’ve summed it up well. It’s really an entire array of factors and the entire vibe at the club is as you say off. In many ways I’m really glad he is doing better at Betis. He always gave 100% on the pitch even if the performances were lacklustre.

I mean he was accused of assaulting his former girlfriend. I want Antony to do well on his loan too (so we can sell him), but it could be he's a much worse person than most of the "divas" we'd had to suffer from.
And the Brazilian police investigated those claims and found there was nothing there

Lots of South Americans can only do it in Spain or Portugal.

Testing players by their ability to do it in a rainy day in Stoke is something I will forever believe in even against the GOATs.

He already has a 8min best of compilation from the official La Liga youtube channel

This guy seems like a decent player, maybe we should go for him in the summer.

Like Zirkzee and Memphis before, he's just unsuited to the PL. He's obviously a decent player, can produce a goal or assist, has excellent ball control and works his socks off. But given his complete lack of physicality and acceleration over the first few yards, the PL defenders are an absolute nightmare for him to deal with. I don't expect him to be a great player in Spain as he's just not got the natural ability to be a top player but a good player - yeah sure. Hope we get a decent fee and wish him the best - he never lacked effort and mentality imo.

What position is he playing for them? Might be worth a gamble taking him back for a season to see if he can turn it around in the PL or am I already forgetting how bad he was!
Hell no. Needs to be sold on the first day of the summer window if possible.

Really pleased for him, a player should never be blamed for their transfer fee and he was constantly.

Also it feels like every time I see their results Isco is scoring for fun. I'm pretty sure he must have about 40 goals this season.

But apparently he has 7

Absolutely not.

This is turning out to be a great loan, it was all about putting him in the shop window - and hopefully an Italian or Spanish team will come in and buy him.

We should with him well, but he is simply not suited to the PL.

I think our game today against Sociedad shows the difference in levels of physicality in the PL versus in La Liga.

I watched Uncle Case overtake a Sociedad player in a foot race! I think Spain fits Antony and England probably didn't due to the physicality required to play here

Think I read we'll be looking for 30+ million for him this summer so every good performance from Antony makes that kind of fee possible. Great that Betis are in Conference League, he can get good amount of G/A there.

He can feck off, honestly. In his entire time here, I begged him through my television to go near post with shots because keepers could read his powder puff curlers to the far post every single time.

And how he's doing it.

He's clearly playing like the pressure's off, not overthinking things.

That was a neat finish. He didn't telegraph what he was going to do, which he often did for us.

La liga is shit & only for South American players.

Antony will do it in the champions league after turning the new Raphinha for Barcelona.

Spanish teams, players and legends of that whole leagues and the Goats are massively overrated because they spend 345 days playing in the beach and playing 20 days in CL prison.

Yeah agree.

I'd go as far to say Sociedad were worse than any Prem League team we've played this season.

Spurs at their place maybe were as bad.

He isn’t a bad player, he has the attributes where he could beat a man and keep hold of the ball.
He wasn’t worth the price tag but that wasn’t his fault, he was also a decent defensive workhorse.

Fair play to him.

Just that little bit more time on the ball in La Liga, less pressure on the ball, less physicality. Gives the player that extra half moment to think and the outcome is better, inevitably. He’s a good enough player but doesn’t have the speed of thought or coolness under intense pressure to thrive in the PL. People talk about physicality but plenty of players lacking in physicality have excelled on these here shores, but they have to have the speed of thought and ice in their veins to make up for it. He doesn’t. You have to have one or the other. Or even both. What you can’t have is to be neither physically dominant nor mentally razor sharp.

Let's not make the same mistake we did with Lingard. We should take what we can get and run!

He has at least 3 significant goal involvements other than his recorded goals+assists. (Won a penalty, passes where the defenders had some touch and therefore not officially recorded as assists, pre-assists). He's been great for them, and their form since he's joined has been remarkable. If they don't go big for him, I think another La Liga club will.

It' s the South Americans and the spanish sunny weather thing.

Just saw this on Reddit (can't post media):

Antony on his improved form : "The sun here helps a lot, and the city (Seville) is better than Manchester"
