He's fast and aggressive, but hes always falling over. Got forward to score goals this season so he does give something

I meant more that Cucurella gets super tight to the winger - closes down immediately and takes the chance that the winger won't beat him - there's no jockeying or half hearted pressing attempts. It feels like fast wingers can exploit that but for Antony it's basically his kryptonite.

Just suggest not reading too much into this one performance.

Wait, so you've gone out of you way to read the Bettis reddit but haven't watched a game?

Yeah it is much easier and quicker to see what betis fans are saying than watch a 90 minute match not being aired in the uk. Plus they are in the main soccer sub a lot and Antony gets a lot of coverage there.

There's a photo of him and Sancho hugging after the final whistle and Antony is, of course, emotional. Definitely deserves a "caption this" thread for whoever has the energy to do so.

There's definitely a weird feelings of football effect going on with Antony. Everytime I watch one of his games, he goes missing. The games I haven't watched, he turns into a world beater apparently.

Chelsea closed down his shooting angles and thats really his biggest strength. I tried to tell people, he is just as average over there as with us but his shot success rate has been higher. At United he had loads of shots but they werent going in.

Sadly for a winger he is not creative and thinks about scoring more than creating.

I half-watched the final yesterday. Every time Antony was on the ball, he just seemed to fall over and lose it. I saw absolutely nothing that made me desperate to have him back in the club. In fact, it just felt more of the same. If he wasn't at our club, I wouldn't sign him based on yesterday's game.

Goes from a player that could be the only one to win 2 European trophy’s in 1 season to one that loses 2 European trophy’s. Broke a record either way

Back against Premier league opposition - he showed his true form.

Total pony.

All the noise from Betis and he’s this and that - it’s just all about levels, pressures and expectations.

Anthony has a level and that’s at a Betis type club. Being made out to be a world beater once out of OT was put to bed last night.

Hopefully he has put a bit more value into his transfer fee but the biggest lesson from the last few years is that you must buy players with PL experience.

Before you write someone off, just look at Salah, he struggled at Chelsea and got loaned out to similar clubs, wehere got the confidence only to came back more ready to Liverpool oto become one of the best PL players in the history.

Antony might not be that case but dont write him off, he's got good application and will further improve in the right environment. He can easily ace it in La liga or Seria A for the next 5 years and possibly dont come back to prove the point, but players improve over time, believe it or not.

Transfer rumors have been quiet around him. Is no club interested in him? If we’re stuck with him, can he do a job for us with some newfound confidence?

For all the badge kissing and tears of joy, as soon as the clubs need to pay a transfer fee or the player needs to take a salary cut the deal collapses.

Player wise and not attitude, then of Antony, Sancho, and Rashford, Antony would be the one I'd want back the least.

He is so clearly not cut out the PL.

You're right though there is not much noise around a move, maybe another loan to Betis might end up happening.

Can’t see it. Remember seeing quotes from Amorim basically saying he didn’t think he was physically up to the league. That isn’t going to change.

Also can’t see playing wing back would appeal to him.

You've got to think after his half season someone is going to pony up money for him

Rumours that Ten Hag is in for him at Leverkusen. Surely not

Though, such an insane lack of self awareness would fit Eric to a tee (a tea? a T?)

Antony could do quite well over there.
I'm sure he could, but just buy ANY other above average right winger in that price range. He made one of the worst EPL transfers of all time in buying Antony. The optics are just ridiculous.

Agreed. I just hope he gets sold, not bothered where he goes. But ETH must be off of his rocker - learn from your mistakes man!!

Just a shame he did from a GK perspective, otherwise we could have flogged him Onana.

Yes, indeed.
The badge kissing was cringy as heck.

Its funny because people would love a loan player doing similar here. I remember how much people were enamoured by how much Weghorst seemed to love being at United, sitting staring at the fans with heart eyes after Carabao etc.

It is funny, but it simply cannot happen during a 4 month loan i guess...

Why would TH take him to Bayer when he has him firmly planted on the bench at Man United?

According to Ajax sources his agent is in Sevilla to negotiate a possible deal.

Is this the type of transfer where the other club would end up paying the wages as they would have been higher at United? And we'd see little or no transfer fee?

If you believe the british press about how much he earns maybe. In reality probably not
