I don't know what's true in this all. But if he's rejected everyone bar a club that cannot afford him, after he failed massively at United and cost the club 80m+ we should absolutely not let him have it his way and bin him in the reserves for the season rather than allowing him and Betis to take the piss.

We can not call it like that. He is free to choose the place he wants to work and live, you can not force a person where to live.
He is free to do want he wants but we are also free to do what is best for us.
Club losing 15-20 mil is not in our best interest.
It is called compromise. If we loan him to Betis, it is is not compromise. We gain basically nothing (except wage saved) and other parties get everything.

I’m 100% onboard with making an example out of at least one of him or Sancho by letting them rot out for a season if they can’t agree a transfer on fair terms.

Our €20m price for Sancho is very fair, and I don’t know what we are asking for Antony exactly but I’m sure it’s probably about €30-35m which is also very fair considering his good spell at Betis.

We need to keep our stance and the worst thing we could do is let Betis have him.

I believe Wilcox and Vivell are well aware that they can't look bad this window. They have an opportunity to do things the right way and both fans and the media have their eyes on hos the club is conducting it's business. For that part alone I have a hard time seeing this will go they way Antony wants.

If he keeps rejecting offers that are fair, use him as an example and set a new standard.

I wouldn't have even let rashford go on loan (I know in reality we needed the wages off the books) the players and clubs know we are desperate so are giving dreadful offers or loan offers. I'd be clear, you leave permanently at our agreed rate or sit the season out unregistered
In reality that makes zero financial sense - you still have to pay the wages, the player value diminishes and it would put off players who we might be interested in, I'd think twice about signing for a club that will freeze you outlike that o=if things don't work out

Even if it was true, as much as I'd love to send Antony off to Saudi you can't exactly blame him for wanting to stay in Europe and play proper football.

Saudi is an absolute joke of a league.

Agree, same applies for Garnacho in my eyes. If the offer isn’t right, it’s not accepted.

Yeah it's cutting your nose off to spite your face. If he stays, he's down in the pecking order plays if required or earns his way back in. Naturally there does also get to a point whereby the club is better letting him go on a cheap loan than keeping him to be at the bottom of the pecking order if he serves no purpose (i.e. being unregistered)

I'm fine with Rashford being loaned out, and to an extent Sancho, just because their wages are ridiculous and they're a pair of disruptive knobs.

But Antony? Nah. Either sell or keep him in the reserves. We can't allow every club/player to feck us over

Hold firm - Betis pay up, he accepts a different permanent offer, or he stays in the reserves. Enough of this being taken for mugs every year.

Lads, relax. It's a clickbait. There was no Saudi interest. None of the reputable journo reported it.

So far only Betis interested and no other club. I think we may have no choice but to accept to sell his 50% economy rights as Betis proposed.
United will never do such business.

I'd still consider that scenario for Sancho though, he's had 2 bites of the cherry and if we can't get 20m or whatever for him now then we've nothing really to lose given he's on the last year of his contract

Yep. Still looks like a return to Betis on loan with a loan fee of around 10M followed by an obligation to buy next sumer for 20M. We get to the 30M we are looking for and they spread the pain across two summers to make it work for their financials. Not brilliant but acceptable and would draw a line under this.

I agree with you but it also works both ways. He's stuck and we shouldn't facilitate free exits, because he's our asset. He can reject moves but so can we.

True - I don't agree with the extremes of making him train alone or in the reserves. Ultimately, he'd be very low down in the pecking order and won't get many minutes unless there is an injury crise or everyone is horribly out of form and he's training well. Antony staying (or any of the others) staying and being 4th, 5th or 6th choice at the very least provides us with some emergency cover. It's not an ideal situation for Antony to be in either but we don't need to go to the extreme of reserve/training alone only.

The cycle to take crap from players has to end. We need to put our foot down and control situations like Anthony and Garnacho.

Same. Circumstances are different for each of the players we’re looking to get rid of.

I agree, but there may be a scenario where we have to go down the extreme route if he's going to be sulking about it. Really depends.

Yeah there is that too - if he becomes disruptive or is a negative influence in training or amongst the group then you have to take action. I would like to think that he can be a bit miserable about the situation but apply himself in training.

Honestly if it is some lowball offer or a loan then I think he should stay. He is more useful off the bench than many in the squad.

Plus, if you do pirouettes on the pitch like that, they’re likely to stone you for being a whoopsie.

Tony V never had a bad game. Don’t be disrespectful. He’s the cornerstone of a 7/10 player.
Valencia came back for the 2012/13 season and just wasn't the same player. He'd bulked up a lot, and I think lack of confidence got to him. He spent all season being poor on the wing before getting moved to right back. He was dismal at first, I remember him costing us so many goals by just being out of position. The Newcastle and Everton back to back home losses in the Moyes season come to mind. It took him a good few years before he became a steady and solid option at right back.

I know its shooting yourself in the foot but I'd love to see the club put their foot down and leave some of these players to rot on the bench if they've turned down good offers that'd suit the club.

A half season in a club - felt some love and suddenly its his only pick. Feels like someone who never got any love when growing up and steers to it like a moth to a flame.

You can't really blame him when, at his last club, 50% of the fans are so easily swayed by pundit criticism that they spew bile and hatred at him for doing a daft skill in a game they won comfortably.

If Betis want to wait until ladt week of transfer window, we shoud ask for £15m loan fee and full wages covered otherwise they can feck right off!

It is that. But I have supported United long before Internet even was a thing and I really don't care what pundits say. It's my own opinion. But he is contracted to us, is payed well and if we want to sell him off he can't hide in a corner and say he just want Betis. But I guess that players and their agents is the ones dictating everything.

You're getting mad at the wrong people, the club gave Antony that contract, he's entitled to it and he has the right to accept or refuse an offer from another club. You still hold cards as you need to accept offers from other clubs but in the end he has the final say.

Yeah, never liked that about how things work in football. Like the trade way of American sports. If you don't negotiate a "no sell-clause" in your contract the club should be allowed to sell your contract to who ever they wants.

We will win the u21 league with Antony, Sancho and Garnacho in the team. A win for the academy.

 There you go. Win win situation I say. U21 league champs and three scrotes getting kicked in the shins by academy players up and down the country.
