Should we sell or keep Antony?

Good for him if true. He wants to play regular football and make the World Cup squad. Hope we get a good deal that satisfies all parties.

He should be the easiest to offload, affordable wages, willing to take a paycut, had a good loan spell. I'm surprised by the lack of rumours around him. If the club doesnt want to take the PSR hit and insists on the £32M price tag then it might explain the lack of noise.

If he's talking a paycut, then big respect.
Absolutely. He was never one to mouth off about his troubles with the club. He obviously became a bit of a meme but there's a good player in there coupled with a good work ethic. I'm not sure if he ever would've been quite good enough to make it here had circumstances been different but, like Zaha, I think he's going to impress elsewhere.

I wonder if things play out differently if those allegations never popped up.

He is only on 100k per week here so his wages wont be an issue, I think if any clubs are interested they will hold off on making a bid until much later in the window to see if the club drops the fee as they get more and more desperate to get him sold.

More than £150m combined for them two :wenger: disgusting, add in Hojlund and Zirkzee that's close to a quarter of a billion on mediocrity that would struggle to start for West Ham.... Surely there a doc coming on how to destroy a club.

£40 million is a pretty reasonable demand for Antony given his potential. He was the author of his own demise, got himself into some trouble at United but he seems to have the right personality to succeed and do well elsewhere.

Hope he leaves but I do want him to go on and do well. His attitude whilst at United was always good and he never fell short in terms of effort.

Sancho on the other hand can feck off.

It's not his fault that he is not up to PL standards. The idiots Murtough and ETH were willing to spend 80M on him. But we can't fault his attitude and effort on the pitch. Hope he gets a good move and restart his career.

Yeah I'm pleased someone else has said this. Fans need to stop blaming players for inept executives financial decisions.

As others have said, model professional who just wasn’t up to it in the Premier League. Hope he gets the move he wants and we get a reasonable fee. Genuinely wish him well unlike the other wasters we’ll most likely have to loan again this summer.

We are finally starting to see some priper links with him

Como would have paid us more than betis, who are gonna give us 20 m euro + 50 % of next sale, which may never happen. We should keep dialogue open with Como and reject betis offers of under 30 m.

We need about 38 m euros to break even, if there is enough interest we shouldnt sell lower than that.

This is what others need to remember when fuming that we’re not just sticking an extra £10m on for Mbeumo to bow down to Brentford’s demands.

We need to act properly in the market and hold our ground.

Yup, he would rightly get a warm reception if he comes back to OT for his next club. Sancho, not so much

Never had an issue with Antony, can't really accuse him of ever downing tools. it's not his fault he was signed despite never being good enough for the club.

Hope he gets a good club and has a good career.

I wouldn't go that far

So why did the highly paid scouts both here and at Arsenal think he was good enough for their clubs?

If he was so happy at Real Betis and so unhappy at us then he should accept a massive pay cut that this transfer will happen.

I suspect the two are very different. Antony really wants to play. Sancho would rather play, but isn’t that determined and is very happy with his contract

It’s not his salary that’s the problem. Betis are a club who don’t traditionally spend tens of millions on transfer fees. Their record signing was denilson for 30m in 1998.

Sancho is pretty much responsible for Antony too, for that Sancho is the biggest failure in our history.

He told Ten Hag:
Sancho told Ten Hag that United had bought the wrong player [him] because he prefers to play on the left, rather than the right

Meaning we went out and bought Antony that summer, Sancho is pretty much responsible for 180m of wasted transfers.

Sancho I hope just leaves as soon as possible, his freedom tweet and everything that surrounds him while we pay his wages beyond a joke.

You'll have to explain to me how what you've just said means he was ever good enough?

One footed, slow and weak. Hardly the traits of a player who's ever going to make it in the premier league.

Im just asking why the highly paid scouts at 2 top Premier League clubs thought was good enough to play for their clubs if he wasnt ever good enough to make it in the Premier League

Scouts think lots of players will be good enough and they aren't.

Your eyes should tell you he was never good enough, it was clear from early on that he didn't have the skillset needed to succeed in the premier league.

we can’t fault this guy’s attitude. Too bad he isn’t suited for PL or club like United or combination of the two. Exactly what the frauds like Rashford and Sancho don’t have in their brains.
