I recall something like this being said when Zidane moved..bankrolled or summat??

kinda matters currently...

They're subsidized by the local council like all Spanish teams. It also means the council get a share of ticket sales and they can't inflate ticket prices so it holds them back as much as it helps them. It gets blown out of proportion because the council overpaid the club for Madrid's old training ground which funded a few big name transfers.

I'm interested in all this shit. Where did the bailout by the King of Spain story come from and how far is the council prepared to go in subsidising them? Don't the tax payers care?

a 200 acre site in the heart of madrids financial district...

i thought the main problem was they let them stay there till they had built a new facility...

althouh it was a lot of cash imagine if somebody had a 200 acre site in the square mile in london... its never gonna be 50 quid is it
