Are you missing European football? (Or does only CL footy matter?)

I’m actually don’t mind not watching much football. Perfectly fine with just watching us once a week.

Think the disappointments of the past years have taken a toll on me and just how the game is going with all the money, sport washing, silly officiating, silly rules etc. means I have less of an interest in the overall game. Plus the game itself has less magical moments with flair players. It’s more a tactical game with systems and formations and robotic play now:

I still enjoy watching us regardless but don’t have as strong feelings about it as I did years back.
100% this.

Definitely missing it. Having to play one game a week is pretty shite for the fans as we’ll probably play 20 games less than last year. Regardless of if we play bad or not there’s something to look forward to and games don’t seem so far apart.

I’m really quite content not having to watch abject performances against European opposition.

Quite happy with EPL. Ket’s work our way back up slowly

I feel with the loss of European football, that the entire United franchise has converted to Buddhism. The existence currently feels sheltered, like in an ashram. Less boisterousness, physios glad the players' injuries don't get inflamed midweek. I like the feeling. I wouldn't mind if we didn't qualify ever.

I'm torn.

I miss having more matches of ours to watch, when we're not shit. The extra games last season didn't give me much, more took away almost. And I'm not certain we've really turned a corner, even if 3 wins in a row was great. We also have a comparatively very easy run until mid January, so we should pick up lots of points in the next 11 games, with the only on paper challenging being away to Spurs and Palace, and home to Newcastle.

If this extra time gives opportunity to drill tactics in training then great, I'm just not convinced yet.

If I had more faith in the manager I would miss the extra matches, with EL being an OK substitute for CL once in a while. Though I'm also not a fan of the new format..

Genuinely think we'd do ok in the Champions League. Maybe not to the later stages but we certainly have the squad, even now, to get to the last 16.

The only teams that would stop us winning the Europa would be are Forest and Villa.

Yeah. I struggle to watch anything other than United for 2 or 3 years now, so 1 game per week seems like ages between. Also, EL was on Thursday night and I liked that sense of almost weekend starting as someone said, so I would happily accept EL as well.

If it helps us to be fresh and leads to better position in EPL, than all good, but if it would be dissapointing to have another season like this again. That said, no thanks to Conference league. Just had a quick look at the games.. I have serious doubts wheather some of those in it are actual football clubs.

Yes, Man United should always be in a European competition. Inexcusable still that we lost to Spurs in the EL final in should terrible fashion.

Feels like forever since we last played. Again.

Feels like a real drag, and we’re only in November. Got a whole season of this! :(

Yes, been a struggle. And then you add on the International games every few weeks.

Difficult to build momentum as a fan. Guess we have been spoilt

I get this. Regardless of being in Europe, the stupid and wanton manipulation of the game puts me off. Happy to allow the club to draw breath and regroup. Never heard of half the teams in the comp anyway. Amusing, when it was the European Cup, it was for Champions only - now it includes clubs who finish 6th and clubs not even European and it’s called the “Champions” league. Happy to say whenever we won it, we were actually Champions, not mid table like certain clubs have been. Glorified League Cup with $$$$$$$. Of course m in the long term we need to be in it but for now, just fine.

Yeah I do miss it. Honestly I only watch our matches these days and some international matches with Jamaica. Apart from those, I really could care less.

CL has no interest at the moment this new format is garbage.
Agree 100%. Used to love the the jeopardy and tension building between clubs in the same group, with the back to back games adding extra spice and narrative. Now it's just a slosh of teams playing at random.

Definitely. European nights without Manchester United is akin to a breakup you’re still not over from. Yet realizing it’s so damned hard to qualify for Champions League in this league, and having to begin the crawl back from the depths of what was such a bad 2024/25 campaign, you come to terms with it real quick.

We have to get back to it, but clearly the focus is on leaving 2024/25 behind and rehabilitating the state and perception of what Manchester United was and still can be.

I miss midweek games, EL or CL. But I do agree that having 1 game a week is going to be helpful for Amorim and the players.

Got to disagree with the bolded, I would say it has never been so easy to qualify, top 5 and Spurs got in through the Europa. Sadly we are nowhere near good enough even though it is easier than ever. I miss the midweek games and with all the international breaks it has been a stop start beginning of the season but hopefully after this next break where the games start coming thick and fast for all the teams involved in europe we can start seeing a benefit for United with less injuries and players freshness and use it to our advantage.

Not really. I'm ok with one game a week and find international breaks much, much worse.

Would watch us if we were in it, but this stage of European competition isn't particularly exciting whether it's CL or EL. Maybe I'll miss it more when the knockout rounds start.

I've been watching United and other PL matches, not bothered watching Europe at all and don't really watch CL/EL outside out of United when we are in it. As soon as we're out I stop.

Put simply, not playing in the Champions League against the best in Europe is a massive miss for this club. It’s the best club competition in Europe.

Not so bothered about missing out on the EL.
