Arne Slot | ex-Liverpool manager | The Bald sack watch is over

The original point of mine you replied to was meant to reference top clubs. Sides at the bottom or mid table are always more likely to make a change to avoid being dragged down.

I don't really follow the train of thoughts here. Here is my point the average tenure in Football is way under 3 years, if you are successful you are more likely to stay longer than 3 years but the norm is under 2 to 3 years.

Now regarding Slot, he has been successful during his first season with Liverpool which in theory means that he is likely to not be sacked but it wouldn't be abnormal if he was sacked.

Yes. He doesn't live in the city. Has an apartment in Manchester and flies to Netherlands/Ibiza 2-3 days a week whenever possible.

Also the players are getting more days off than probably any squad in the Premier league, by extension of slot being away as well. Never mind that the training sessions are said to be busier around the coffee station than the training pitch.

He's a deeply unserious manager who has decimated standards at this club. Which is why he fell out with Salah.

That's so bizarre. Why have the club allowed that to happen?

Beats me. He should have been sacked four months ago. At least.

In other news, Chelsea outran the opposition team today for the first time this season.

I think the context of the money spent and awful football/results means he will and should be sacked. That’s really what I’m getting at. He’s so far below expectations for the season, the football is garbage and he says the wrong thing all the time.

Our poor form/football stretches back to February/March 2025.

 Party boi.

No way he's staying.

He's going to truly ruin them if Liverpool don't sack him at the end of the season.

Will be sacked I think. Like us though, it feels there aren’t many obvious candidates out there.

Genuinely surprised not to hear more noise about Alonso. An ex player who has done some very good work in Germany and is available. Personally I hope they go and get Gerrard.

They'll give him next season. All they need to do is get Wirtz, Isak, Ekitikitke and Kerkez diagnosed with Asthma like the good old days and they'll be flying again.

If someone told me that if hired Iraola, that in 3 seasons, he'd win us the PL in one, and get is CL in another, then I'd snap their hand off, even it meant in the other season we finished bottom half.

Slot might do this with Liverpool, but he's surely got every right to be given the benefit of the doubt for this season, it's not been a total disaster afterall.

Guy got knocked out 3-0 at home vs Palace in Carabao Cup, 4-0 vs City in Fa Cup and 4-0 vs PSG in CL. Lost Carabao Cup final last season to Newcastle and lost 1-0 to Plymouth in the Fa Cup. Also deservedly knocked out vs PSG in CL. Terrible manager for Liverpool in cup competitions.

Fantastic 6 months followed by poor/average 15 months. Guess 4th place is still keeping him in job but they need to give the preseason to someone else. It's like with us and ten Hag - you can let him start the next season, but he'll be gone by October anyway. Or like with what happened to Rodgers there.

Not that there's many options to replace him - Xabi seems most logical. Are they considering Iraola, Fabregas? Not much is being said and think Liverpool won't share info before season ends.

Typically, just as Liverpool need a new manager, it turns out that one of their former players has become a top-tier manager and happens to be available right now. It's the kind of obnoxious luck that seems to follow them. Even if things go poorly for a minute, the fabric of reality contrives to give them wind in their sails again. They don't even have to miss out on CL for a season because of course it's a season where Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle are all crap simultaneously.

If an earthquake destroyed Anfield, the random configuration of the tectonic movements would incidentally form a new, better stadium out of the bedrock in the same location, ready for use immediately.

I wouldn't worry about it. Alonso is no Klopp. They really did use up all their luck landing him at the right time

I might be wrong but I think Hag was in Ibiza when INEOS flew out to tell him he could keep his job despite being shit. Must be a bald Dutch thing.

Yes im sure a club the size of Liverpool allow him to go to Ibiza 2-3 days a week!

Didn't he fall out with Salah because he benched him?

The hatred of Slot is weird.

I saw Arne Slot in a grocery store.

I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a pain and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Dodged the question

It's not comparable! Amorim and Ten Hag weren't good enough, hence why neither of them got close to winning the Premier League.

If either of them had won the league here they'd probably deserve a bit more time and have some credit in the bank.

Still not answering the question

You Liverpool fans and your fan fiction

Such a classic

I for one am hoping that they do not sack him. He’s a legend I hope they keep him for 26/27 years like we did with Fergie.

I wanted them both to go. Your comparing apples with orange's though.
The only difference is that slot followed Klopps template for the year they won the league, changed very little and had Salah on the best form. As soon as he tried to impose his own ideas it went to shit.

Otherwise it’s almost carbon copy of what happened to United under ETH and Amorim.

18 defeats this season is more than enough rope to hang him and I don’t think there’s a viable reason to be keep him, other than united fans trolling

“The hatred of slot is weird”

18 defeats
Strange decisions
Formation& style that fans hate
Manager that pisses off to top up his tan multiple times a season.

What’s weird is why anyone thinks that he shouldn’t be fired

It's not even about the defeats. It's about the fact that when you watch us play there is no plan, no mentality, no fitness, and no indication whatsoever of moving towards any of these. If we were on a trajectory towards somewhere promising, the defeats would be received very differently. As it stands, we've simply fallen apart.

The only way we win games is by having better players on the pitch to make a difference. I don't think there's been more than 2 or 3 games this season where I've thought we had the better tactical plan, or wanted it more than the opposition. We are the kind of team other teams love to play against.

From what I saw of Liverpool they didn’t look anything like the Klopp teams. It was a lot slower and more controlled, and he gave Salah the freedom to have his best season in years. He didn’t run them in to the ground either and kept the players fit and available far better than Klopp did in his last season.

Yeah it's not weird to track someone's moves outside of work!

Do you really think he's topping up his tan multiple times a season?

I hope Liverpool do fire him personally.
They all think things can't get any worse and can only better. They massively ovverate the squad of players they have. It's a bad mix of washed up old guys and players that aren't as good as they think they are.

do you think United fans wouldn’t start banging on about his job focus if Amorim was going off to Ibiza or Portugal once a month?

I think at the beginning of the season Liverpool fans were excited about the squad on paper but now reality has well sunk in, I don’t believe that there are many that overate the players that they have

Has it actually been confirmed he is regularly going to Ibiza every month?
I saw him getting stick for visiting his daughter at one point!
If you believe any top club would allow the manager to phone it in and regularly go on holiday then PM me as I have some magic beans you might be interested in!

They've made the mistake we made post Sir Alex. Sign a load of big names with no actual plan how to use them.

Isak, Salah and Wirtz will be great on Fifa but they were never likely to link up well in real life.

All I've heard is how the football is boring from Liverpool fans. What they forget is, they played boring football under Houiler and Benitez. No one they was calling for their heads and two didn't deliver the title.

Klopp was a one off. That is never going to happen again. A bit like we had with Fergie and City are having with Pep. The Klopp years was your glory years, it's a pity for you guys you only won one title and one CL in that time.

They never spent as well under Houllier and Benitez like they did this summer. The difference for Slot now is that he just came from winning the league and the club spent hundreds of millions only for them to get significantly worse. That includes the 1st and 4th most expensive transfers to a PL team ever. That is on him. They should have at least been challenging in the league this season.

It's not confirmed he goes to Ibiza every month, he's only done that once or twice as far as I'm aware. He is going back to the Netherlands regularly though yes, and the players get midweek breaks often, as a result, despite people who defend Slot saying we don't have time to work on tactics during the season.

It wouldn't surprise me to see the players put up more holiday pics on Instagram during the week. Rome and Milan were recent highlights, I'm sure they'll get another European city ticked off soon.

But sure, continue to defend him despite that if you want.

TBF the next United manager to win us the league will probably get a free pass if he finishes where they are today. It's not a bad place to be in considering how competitive the league is. But he does come across so defensive in a very twatish way, as if he wants to be sacked.
