He got lucky last season, riding on Klopps tactics. They bought no one so he played virtually the same team. Salah had a worldie season.

I think it's telling he didn't decide to uproot his family to Liverpool. I don't think he ever felt he would be there long enough to build a project.
In that instance it's rite to keep your family where it is. But it says alot of about him that he didn't feel he would be there long.
I'll defend him (kinda...) here for a change because he explained his reasons and said his kids are in key school years so he didn't want to uproot them during that. Which is fair enough.
I don't think he has any connection to the city though, lives in Manchester for a start, which isn't really ideal, and not in line with most of our previous managers. That sounds cringey but that stuff helps buy time when you're not doing well on the pitch. He's a hired gun who isn't delivering.
We had numerous fans here who were crestfallen and astonished when Amorim got fired, acting like it was unbelievable that the club would even think to get rid of him. Every fanbase has its imbeciles who reside outside the reach of common sense.
We’re not sacking him. Not unless Alonso’s agent or someone approaches us letting us know he wants in. Slot had everyone fooled into believing he was the second coming, me included. The higher ups still believe it in my opinion. So either he gets us back up top or it ends in a disaster by mid season.
At the end of the day, Slot has proved he is really good at reinvigorating a highly trained super fit team of title challengers and maintaining that momentum for six months.
The job of managing such a side on the momentum of his own coaching platform is clearly and indisputably beyond him.

Klopp only managed successive title challenges with you once, to be fair.

People keep bringing up that Slot won the title in his first season there, but can anyone say with a straight face that they think he's the reason they won it? Nobody else challenged for the title at all. They finished with one of the lowest winning points tallies in decades and there was still a 10-point gap down to 2nd place. Absolutely nobody made even a token attempt to try for the title, so Liverpool trudged over the finish line in unimpressive fashion, carried on the shoulders of Salah's last big hurrah. It's delusional to see that as something they were only able to do because it was Arne Slot managing them.
You can only beat what’s in front of you. Doesn’t mean he’s some sort of brilliant manager, but he took on a team with excellent foundations and went and won.
I am delighted about how their are declining, but yes of course Slot deserves credit for winning the title. It can also be true that he’s overseen them turn into a very average team, and a showdown of what made them a good side.

I think it’s the latter which is why I want him gone.
None of the United manager's actually won a title though so it's not comparable. If any of the manager's post Sir Alex had won an actual Premier League title they'd get a fair bit of credit in the bank.
I've not particularly taken to many manager's and you'll probably start to realise this too. As a fan base you haven't moved on from Klopp and there isn't a single manager that will come close to matching him.
Looking at your current squad with the likely summer exits you'll go backwards next season irrespective of who is in charge.
You don't have any good reliable attacking players! You have an impossible task of replacing almost irreplaceable players. Whoever you try and replace Salah, Alisson, Robertson and Van Dijk with is very very unlikely to be at the same level and you won't have a genius manager to bail you out.
Apart from Hodgson I’ve taken to every manager we’ve had since I’ve been watching. It went down hill for all of them apart from Klopp but they’ve all been in liked. Rodgers maybe less so after 2014.
Speaking of Rodgers. That’s how we’ll go under Slot if we stick with him. I’m fairly certain of that. I don’t know what’ll happen if we try someone else.
With regards to the squad, after the last summer window everyone thought we would run away with the league. Football isn’t as simple as it looks on paper. Things can change quickly and the league is currently in a state where there are no outstanding teams. Next season seems wide open to me.

All the big names for Liverpool settle in Southport don't they, near Birkdale golf course? Klopp talked about going to his local pub a few times to get the mood of the locals.
He's getting the most stick from the Kop since the brief Roy Hodgson period so would be ballsy from Liverpool board to give him start of next season when managers of the calibre of Xabi Alonso are available. For a start he'd know how to get more out of Writz and Frimpong.
Even with all the issues Liverpool have shown an incredible lack of intensity this season. Pretty lucky so many teams below have flopped as they've had a far easier passage to CL than they should have.

Van Dijk said it was one day off a week just after Mac Allister was posting photos from a multi day trip to Rome. Couldn't care less about his bare faced lies.

Can only compare him to recent managers but yes he's the first in recent memory to live outside the city. Think Rafa still has a house here, that's part of why he went to Everton and part of the reason why he's not even hated for making that decision to go there.

I don't think keeping him is an option if that's the case honestly. If he's lost all credit with the fans he's a dead man walking - fail to win a couple matches start of next season and the team's getting booed at home, hard to pull yourself up from that

It's interesting how the changes to Champions League qualification have an impact on the job security of managers at the big clubs. If we were still in the old setup with four teams qualifying, Liverpool would be right on the edge of not making it, and therefore they might have already pulled the trigger on Slot. Now the lower barrier for what could be seen as an acceptable season is a lot lower.
It will be so interesting to see how Liverpool start next season. If you just look at the 2026 table, they are behind the likes of Brighton and Bournemouth.
