Arne Slot | ex-Liverpool manager | The Bald sack watch is over

Salah really did drag this guy to a title

Lot of Liverpool fans were furiously denying this last season, wonder if they now see that it was true.

Salah for the first 5 or 6 months of last season was putting up assists and goals at a rate I don't know if we've seen before. Him tailing off from about February/March tallies with when Liverpool started to struggle under Slot. They were completely and utterly reliant on him.

52 after this tweet.

I knew they were bad defensively, but not worse than when Brenton was manager

Their midfield is very good technically but their defence looks terrible. Add to that, their injured forwards and fullbacks not performing, they could be in trouble. Big summer for them. Hopefully they waste another half a billion.

The keeper is poor, if he's replacing Allison and with the potential defenders available that backline is a mess.

Konate is going, VVD nearly done, Robertson is going, Frimpong & Kerkez don't look up to much. The kid they bought in from Parma is still injured. Gomez is always injured. Bradley is out injured.

Gravenberch & Szoboszlai are decent, MacAllister looks washed, Wirtz might come good. Jones is a decent rotation option.

They have Rio as a wide player with potential, Gakpo & Chiesa are average at best. Isak could return to form & Ekitike might never recover fully to reach his potential.

Going to take more than half a billion to sort that lot out.

They have wasted money non stop.

Not sure why they felt that they needed to sign another keeper? Kelleher had never let them down, when he was called upon and should have been given the chance.

It really is a shame we didn't take the opportunity to trounce these 4/5-0. Was a perfect opportunity.

Maybe he'll stay, we'll improve, and we'll get another chance next season.

Agreed. Same with the city game, it really should've been 4 or 5. They would've been proper statement wins.

I personally think there is some truth in what the poster is saying. I don’t agree with everything, but it feels like the Liverpool fan base’s standards have completely skyrocketed since Klopp. Those standards and expectations are going to be really hard to match with any manager.
I would agree I guess. We have higer standards in general, but I can only talk for myself. I honestly don't care if we win or not. I just want us to win, or lose, the right way.

Slot knows what needs to be done. He said so himself. He is just a couple of players away from the top spot. They must keep him for next season.

After tonight’s game, it is getting harder and harder to argue with the Liverpool fan consensus. The players seem to have completely given up. Strangely, it looks like he might stay.

Yeah my biggest issue is with how we play every single week. It’s been terrible all season. Especially defensively and how the midfield has been set up.

I think Slot went into the season planning to play Wirtz as a 10 with two midfielders behind him. Then Wirtz started the season terribly and Slot had to adjust. We’ve had all sorts of midfield combinations and formations this season and it never looks like the players know what they’re doing. I remember that United had huge issues with midfield gaps under ETH and this is similar to that.

I hate watching the same game over and over again. We’re so easy to play against.

Watching Liverpool today and it was eerily similar to watching United under ETH. High press, but not a good press with a high line with acres of space and poorly organised, without much recovery pace.

Looks like a suicide tactic in the PL. villa could and should have scored more!

Please keep him for one more season. He will do an ETH final season next year.

Slot hasn’t yet tried the legendary doughnut midfield formation but I agree with you 100% that there is very little threat from your team.
You press but no coordination meaning that causes more problems than it solves.
Not much threat on the break and a creaking back line along with a bucket load of individual errors.
Parallels to ETH are well founded. It won’t end well for slot regardless of when he’s inevitably sacked.

Imagine your own legend watches you being disgustingly bad, could get the job by just turning up and still thinks: "yeah nah i'll go to Chelsea, let's go Blues !"

Worst season ever!

Still going to get CL qualification....
Lucky that there is 5 champions league spots.
A miracle that they will get champions league because of it. But Bournemouth could easily snap it out of their hands if they win remaining games, but City is one of them, then if Brighton win both their games, Liverpool could be in trouble there.

We play them on the final day, and going by the Sunderland game, good chance we won't be arsed with it. So if they beat Leeds tomorrow, Liverpool will have to get atleast a draw if Bournemouth lose to basically guarantee a spot.
