Arne Slot | ex-Liverpool manager | The Bald sack watch is over

Last time i heard him he sounded more like a portugese than a dutch

Hes gonna talk about suffering soon as if he is a buddhist monk. To be fair his head already looks the part

If only Bournemouth or Brighton had a couple of points more or one of them had to play Liverpool, there would have been a better chance to kick them off fifth.

Liverpool finish in 4th or 5th and Slot is still going to get sacked at the end of the season.

I am pretty sure Liverpool board are waiting for the season to be over before moving him on. Don't think Alonso would go to Chelsea.

Lucky that there is 5 champions league spots.
A miracle that they will get champions league because of it. But Bournemouth could easily snap it out of their hands if they win remaining games, but City is one of them, then if Brighton win both their games, Liverpool could be in trouble there.

We play them on the final day, and going by the Sunderland game, good chance we won't be arsed with it. So if they beat Leeds tomorrow, Liverpool will have to get atleast a draw if Bournemouth lose to basically guarantee a spot.
Thing is, they won their first 5. Those 15 points, which they deserved half of at most, are why they’re in the top 5. They should be down around where Chelsea are by rights.

It really is a shame we didn't take the opportunity to trounce these 4/5-0. Was a perfect opportunity.

Maybe he'll stay, we'll improve, and we'll get another chance next season.
I’m still filthy with Amad for that.

Similar to Ange's first season at Spurs. Take away the early lucky runs, and they've won as many as they've lost.

Half-arsed pressing and no desire to track back without the ball, limited off the ball movement when the supposed key players are in possession because there's no conviction that anything will come off it.

You can play bad and have a failed season, like they did under Klopp, for a number of reasons. But they don't look just bad, they look broken. We should know a thing or two about that. You watch them and you come to the conclusion that they need a new starting xi. We should know a thing about that, too. If their hierarchy believe that he can turn it around, all power to them.

They were absolutely rotten last night. Keeping Arne Slot would be a “courageous” decision, to say the least

Klopp never had more than 9 PL losses in a season, even during the early years. Tragic season.

Why would they not go all in for Alonso right now?

He is available, club icon, won large trophees as a manager, proven to get a tune out of Wirtz and Frimpong..

I don’t know if Liverpool could have done anything different with Salah, VVD, Robertson and Allison dropping so much from their peak. It’s really hard to keep a team going.

I guess they've still got huge respect for what Slot did in his first season, and unlike most of their fans are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt this season.

There is a list as long as your arm for why they've been so bad, so it's hardly a big call to make.

I feel there’s too much noise around Slot for him to stay. Surely the club knows that. We have had it before at United and this just breeds indifference within the squad and only gets worse.

Will be a huge call to keep him.

We've got a history of letting managers who should have been sacked in the summer limp on to ruin the next season. It's exactly what Liverpool would be doing with Slot if they let him stay on as manager.

I really hope I'm wrong and they keep him but it would be madness in my opinion. He's so clearly finished there.

If it wasn't for those very flukey 5 wins in a row at the start of the season they would have been in and around that relegation scrap that Spurs, West Ham, Leeds and Forest were in.

Common sense, and comparing with similar experiences in other clubs (and their own with Rodgers) would suggest he has to go. But it does look like they are going to stick with him as there doesn't seem to be any decent evidence that they have a replacement lined up.

It says something about how royally everyone else fecked up last season when this bald fraud could win a league.

Imagine your own legend watches you being disgustingly bad, could get the job by just turning up and still thinks: "yeah nah i'll go to Chelsea, let's go Blues !"
I think that's more of a reflection on Liverpool than it is Alonso. They don't seem prepared to let Slot go as it stands (hopefully it stays that way), Alonso can't really do much in that situation if he wants to return to coaching this summer.

There have been a lot of comparisons to the situation when we kept Ten Hag on a couple of summers ago but I think this is actually worse for them. If we had an ex-player with Alonso's record as a coach waiting in the wings at the time, I think even we would've pulled the trigger on that.

As bad as the decision to retain Ten Hag was, it seemed to stem from a lack of credible options to replace him and a period of change above him - neither of which apply to Liverpool here. It should be a tap in for them so it says a lot about where they are if they allow him to walk into a job at a domestic rival unchallenged.

Feel pretty confident that Alonso would prefer Liverpool to Chelsea given the choice. But he can’t just ring them up and tell them to fire Slot.

Whilst that is true, he’s got them playing completely open in midfield ala ETH. You could drive a bus through it. It’s killed their season and like ETH he’s too stubborn to fix it. That is why MacAllister looks completely duff this season compared to last, he didn’t play this system last year

I won't believe they won't do that until Alonso is officially signed elsewhere. It just seems such an obvious thing to do that I reckon they are trying to keep everything completely under wraps until the season is over, then they'll fire Slot and announce Alonso soon after.

Surely they can't sack him after he won them the league just last season. Bad seasons can happen to anyone with injuries and drop in form of some key players like the bestest defender ever i.e VVD

Just watching the highlights from last night.

A question I keep asking and never get an answer to, but who actually are there good players now?

Szoboszlai at a push but he's overrated.
That Rio kid looks promising but the rest of that squad is shite, mid table at best level.

It's funny how Liverpool fans just think a new manager will fix it!

Yeah, they need to spend another £500m. It's great.

Will be sacked in October/November.

I don't see them magically sprinting all over the pitch in August.

Do find it odd Liverpool are just casually letting Xabi Alonso seemingly go to Chelsea. That would be a feelgood factor appointment.

Slot has lost the Liverpool fans and that rarely happens to their managers so think they've got it wrong thinking Slot will turn this round.

Szoboszlai is a very good player, come on. Ekitike and Isak can obviously be very good, when fit. Same with Allison. Gravenberch is decent enough.

The have a serious lack on quality on the wings tough, both at fullback and forwards. And their CBs are getting more and more average.

He's good, but if you take away those free kick goals then I dont think people are talking about him as a top player.

Ekitike looked good but now has a potentially career changing injury, Isak hasn't been fit all season.

Alisson has struggled this season, Gravenberch is living off a good season under Slot last year.

It's a bang average squad of players. I stand by the fact that Slot did incredibly well to win the league with them and get them in a Champions League place this season.

Recruitment is the biggest issue.

They used to take players like Robertson, Mane and Jota and take them to the next level. Last summer they just threw money at a load of big names that anybody in football could have picked out but with no plan how to use them.

Nah, Szoboszlai isn't just some free-kick merchant. And in general, a group of players always look a lot worse under such poor management. If the team got a lift from a few signings or a better manager, these players would also raise their level. They look worse individually right now, because Slot is a plonker.
