Arne Slot | ex-Liverpool manager | The Bald sack watch is over

You genuinely have no issue with an ego maniac dragging the club through the mud then?

When Ronaldo behaved like this he was widely condemned by United fans.
No issue at all, because he is not dragging the club down at all. FSG are ostriches with their head in the sand and he's shouting at them to see what is actually happening.

It has to feel like it’s going somewhere and it doesn’t feel like that under Slot.
It's very clearly going a certain direction, which is down and towards squad dissolution. Slot staying will set us back years.

With the lack of fecks given by FSG for both Pool and the Red Sox, do you think they’re actually looking to sell?

Not actively I think.

I have a hope they will act given that Edwards/Hughes seemingly won't and all three only have a year left on their contract. But nothing will happen on that account till after the season review.

I get they want to be methodical and analytical and all but there's zero agility in their management of the club. Which is why we have these calamities every two or three seasons because the pace of the method doesn't align with the urgency of the present needs.

I have not followed a lot of football news the last few weeks but was confused to see Alonso will join Chelsea and not Liverpool.

Gotta love the Liverpool board..

They are idiots. Plain and simple.

They've just today tried the brief that Slot was hired through a riguorous examination process that yielded Slot and Amorim as the top candidates and that's why they think he needs another season.

If your method yielded Amorim alongside Slot, and he's your argument for persisting with Slot, maybe your process is fecking shit.

It’s awful behaviour and will do nothing to help your club. Just selfish egoistical bullshit.

What he posted was 200% spot on. The question is, should he have posted it? Probably not as it isn't very professional, but I can see where he's coming from, he obviously has a personal issue with Slot at this point and he doesn't give a feck anymore. He also knows most fans will back him over Slot at the moment so nothing much to lose.

He apparently doesnt give a feck anymore...

On liverpool making CL next season otherwiseh he wouldnt have createf this noise towards the final game of the season, potentially crucial for making CL or not, and kept his mouth shut for another week

Even assuming his statement and attack against Slot are 100% correct, its disgraceful and disruptive behavior which doesnt help Liverpool football club in the week towards a crucial final game of the season

Exactly. It’s just obviously detrimental to the good of the club. Can’t believe there are actually Liverpool fans that are pleased he’s had this public outburst. Reminds me of that shit with Ronaldo.

Liverpool letting Alonso get away surprised me and most people i think, but realistically is there an obvious stand out candidate to replace Slot ? Maybe Iraola, there a lot of Bournemouth links at Liverpool links but then they missed out on Semenyo too who i though would have been a great fit there. I can see Slot getting sacked around Halloween and Stevie G in as interim.

Maybe Liverpool are just settling into their usual pre-Klopp selves again.

Slot shouldn't be pissing off back to the Netherlands in that case, if it's such a crucial week.

I'd argue our training regime being in disarray under Slot is more of a disgraceful, disruptive move than any Instagram post ever would be.

(If Bournemouth don't win tonight, Sunday doesn't matter anyway).

I never said I was pleased, it's rather that I also couldn't give a feck anymore. We aren't fit to play in the CL next season anyway. I'm in favour of whatever gets Slot out of the club as soon as possible, so in that regard Salah's post doesn't bother me in the slightest.

What's actually been disgraceful is our last 30 league games courtesy of being managed by Slot.

And even then we could be in the CL tonight without even playing, making the entire upcoming week pointless instead of crucial.

It doesn't surprise me in the slightest that pool fans dont have an issue, Sarah is acting exactly like the fans do on most things, so its aparent this kinda behaviour is acceptable.

United fans were appalling by Ronaldos comments and interview, and even keanos public remonstration back in the day, despite perhaps agreeing with parts of what both personalities were saying at the time, because we were brought up with a culture of nothing negative would be said outside of the club, and any gripes or matters dealt with internally.

Its a dangerous mindset to allow where players can earn a certain level of cult status that the can selfishly call out whatever the chose to dislike and be backed above manager or club, like that one player embodies more of the club than the rest of the collective parts.

But strangely the games prior to those 30 were fine because a title was brought in. No harm but any wonder the manager conveyorbelt exists nowadays because fans can only accept the good times. This mindset will ensure we never have any fergies or wingers in the league again. I would love to see the kinda posts that were around in Klopps early days

Bit overdramatic don't you think ? One winger, one CB and a fullback and you're good to go again. You could still sack Slot at Christmas and turn it around. United has shown the template and proof that it's possible. You still have a top 3 squad, they just need a kick up the arse.

Yes so much like Ronaldo who lost lots of respect with United fans especially when chosing to have an interview with that attention seeking clown Piers Morgan. Will Salah go down the same route? He certainly has ego as big as Ronaldo to do so.

Both arguments dont justify his disgraceful disrespectful disgraceful behavior..

That Slot is doing a poor job doesnt mean that what Salah is doing is disruptive for Liverpool in the current situation...

Salah had no clue what Brighton and Bournemouth would/will do this round, so when he said it, the upcoming week was potential crucial..

He should have just waited one week with these statements till the season was over if he wanted them off his chest so badly..

They were not, because with each passing season in Klopp's early days, you could clearly see a pattern of improvements. It's actually the other way around now, we are getting worse with each passing week.

United has shown that you can go from midtable to a distant third with a better manager, they are still a few ways off the standard that's needed to actually compete in the CL. I guess they could fluke their way to a QF just like we could've done had we avoided PSG or gotten Arsenal's path to the final, but that's about it. The tie with PSG showed the enormous gap in quality between us and the top teams in Europe at the moment. It's only going to get bigger if we keep Slot on board.

Imo we've brought in very good players this summer and he still managed to progressively make us worse and worse, so there's no sign whatsoever he's able to turn it around with a few extra additions in the spots that are necessary.

Ah yeah, lashing out right after you're gone from the club, the classy thing to do.

There's no player involved that will suddenly play worse against Brentford next week because of what Salah said and if they do, they have the wrong mentality if they're upset or disrupted by those comments.

Like I said in my first post, it is unprofessional by Salah by the way. But I just don't mind it, that's how fed up I (and a lot of fans) are with Slot at the moment.

I love it when a team, in this case Liverpool, goes through a period of huge success and then, when every fan of that club is all smug and superior and absolutely convinced, that the management at the club is brilliant, everything comes crashing down.
It is always incredibly funny to see. The whole leadership at Liverpool has no clue whatsoever, why they were successful under Klopp. They have seen him work for years and learned nothing from it. It’s amazing, if you think about it.

Quod non.

We had an amazing manager but most sensible fans have always maintained that FSG aren't savvy ownership but rather got lucky with his appointment. It's definitely no surprise that they've failed to act in any way whatsoever this season.

It was rather Utd fans on here that constantly referred to FSG as the golden standard for ownership when they were complaining about the Glazers, which never was true to begin with.

@HTG

First post in this thread dating back to Nov 2022, post #111 on the next page as well. That's been a view held by loads of fans, that it had been Klopp all along keeping us competitive. I've come across very few fans who thought that FSG were geniuses or great sports investors or anything like that.

The one thing all of Liverpool fans, myself included, definitely got wrong is that we thought they once again appointed exactly the right guy with Slot during/after last season.

Does that mean saying it before he leaves the club is classy?

To be honest im also happy enough hes said it,as no matter what happens next is disruptive going forward. Either slot is kept on in spite of it and the fan base is clearly against him

Or they react to the fan reaction get rid of slot and open up a culture within liverpool where player power is prevalent to everything

No obviously not, never said it was!

Slot will be kept and most of the fanbase was already against that before Salah made his comments, so in that respect not much has changed. Speaking of the more vocal online fanbase that I come across, that is - no idea what the local sentiment of match-going fans currently is.

Spot on. No Liverpool fan wanted Arne out before Mo's message.

Such an odd thread. Literally no Liverpool fan in here defends him, gives plenty of valid reasons why he should have been sacked ages ago, yet most Utd fans defend him better than this Liverpool team defend on the pitch.

My Liverpool supporting housemate thinks Klopp will be back. A small part of me wants him to go back and fail just so she'll shut up about Liverpool.

She's in the "next year is our year" part of the Scouse boom/bust cycle and that Wirtz is actually amazing and their best players aren't getting old

She's delusional if she thinks next year will be our year with Slot still in charge. Wirtz is indeed amazing though :smirk:

That said, I'm surprised you'd take the risk of Klopp returning in a season where City will be without Pep for the first time and Arsenal aren't exactly impressing anyone. The chances of us being competitive increase tenfold with Klopp back imo rather than with Slot at the helm, even if just for the first few months of the season.

It worked wonders for us. Surprised to see they don't seem to have learned from the mess we have been in, where shite managerial performances gets rewarded with prolonged backing from those in charge because continuity or something. Since we had back-to-managers overstaying their welcome by a country mile, then the least you can do is copy that.

I think he'd much rather continue being a corporate stooge and take the easy money from Red Bull, Trivago and whatever else comes his way. He confessed himself that he has run out of energy for Premier League management.
