Excellent. KRAP - Keep aRne At Pool.

So many have been convinced Slot would leave: I never thought he would be sacked, personally, and was surprised anyone really thought he would be. Winning the title and then finishing in champions league spots - it’s actually hard to guarantee better results than that. I would have been shocked if they had sacked him.

It wouldn't have been harsh if Slot had been sacked at Christmas nevermind now. It's frustrating when people (not really a dig at you here) think this is about not competing for the title.I guess most Liverpool fans wanted to see Xabi Alonso take over. Would have been really harsh on Slot if he had been fired already. Arteta for example didn't get fired after where he finished in the first few seasons, and we've all seen how his teams have performed (Stoke lite), and only now managed to win the league. Slot did this last year.

You talk about improving, but the fact is that he's doing well with the squad he's got to be finishing fourth/fifth. The core of the team that was successful for years - Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, prime Van Dijk and prime Salah - is no more.It wouldn't have been harsh if Slot had been sacked at Christmas nevermind now. Alonso would have been most Liverpool fans' number 1 choice but it's not really about him. The majority want Slot out regardless.
There's zero sign Slot has a clue how to improve us. He's told us he knows how to improve, but can't elaborate on how when he's asked, just that it will be next season. He said yesterday we need to be more like Arsenal, but need to play good football to watch, another contradiction.
His plan seems to be fully based on buying players and hoping for the best. Yet when he's asked what has gone wrong this year, a common excuse is that the new players need time to integrate - that's going to be the exact same next year surely?
He's a walking contradiction at this point who will say anything to keep his job, and somehow the executives have bought it. This season he kept telling us from his book of excuses that we couldn't play well because teams were playing in low blocks...until teams started pressing us and then he was whinging about that too. He's a charlatan.
You're talking about results, I'm not. I don't care where we finish this season, I want Slot out for other reasons not for where we finish. You talk about improving, but the fact is that he's doing well with the squad he's got to be finishing fourth/fifth. He's overseeing a complete rebuild, where the new signings he's been given have largely been poor, and is still qualifying for the Champions League. Chelsea, Arsenal after Wenger, or us in the past few seasons are what can easily happen with an incompetent manager. It is quite frankly, one of the most entitled things I have ever read, to call a manager a charlatan who has won the league, and then followed it up with CL qualification.
Whilst I love to see Liverpool struggle, I feel Arteta has shown that giving a manager time even when they do look out of their depth can actually be a good thing.I am mind blown if fellow United fans aren't on a wind-up here. If they are, then fair play, I am also enjoying how royally Liverpool have fecked things up.
If not though, it is crazy to see how we are still bound to respect coaches due to sir Alex Ferguson legacy, even when they look so out of depth. It goes even further than supporting current and ex United managers, it is almost like supporting the managerial culture.
I wish to Liverpool with all my heart that they persist with Arne, because he is quite obviously terrible.

It wouldn’t have been harsh at all. They’ve been beaten 18 times this season. If he had not won the league last year that number alone would have had him sacked. A little bit of credit in the bank has saved his sorry assI guess most Liverpool fans wanted to see Xabi Alonso take over. Would have been really harsh on Slot if he had been fired already. It's entitled to think things will improve with this squad. Look at the best managers (possibly) available this summer: Conte, Iraola, Deschamps, Glasner, Pochettino... It's not exactly an exciting list of names to pick from. The biggest clubs in the world have Carrick, Mourinho and Kompany managing them right now. I wouldn't fancy any of those to finish 1st and 4th/5th over two seasons with Liverpool's squad. You're talking about results, I'm not. I don't care where we finish this season, I want Slot out for other reasons not for where we finish.
I don't think it's entitled to want your team to play good football, or at worst at least show some idea or plan about how we're going to show that. Instead he tells the media he knows exactly how to fix it, but he can't say how yet, and for some reason he can't start working on that until next season.
Do me a favour with the squad stuff. For whatever issues we may have, a manager is supposed to help solve them, instead Slot is making the whole thing 10x worse and yet we're supposed to have faith he'll fix it next season. Either he means new signings, which so far he's yet to show any signs of being able to integrate, or he means preseason, which the world cup will disrupt anyway.
There are loads of examples of supposed bad signings somehow actually being good players when a new manager comes in. Firmino was labelled a dud until Klopp came in. We've signed players who have been much better elsewhere so the same could well happen here.
Reminds me of when we brought in van nistlerooy to assist ten Haag in his last few months hopefully he lasts longer than ten haagTerribly run club right now. Idiotic if they think a new assistant is going to suddenly change things.
(Even if it does, I'm not sure that it says a lot about Arne if an assistant turns it around).
His press conference today was ludicrous. More inconsistent waffle.
Too soon for the Boom / Bust chart?I look forward to another season of mediocrity. It’s starting to feel like the good old days again![]()
You or Arne?was not familiar with McGinn's game
Simple rule of thumb for assessing a manager; ask fans of your rivals.
As United fans, we were all delighted when first Klopp, then Pep, f**ked off. We can say what we like about them, but that we were glad to see the back of them speaks volumes.
I’m sure every Liverpool fan wanted to see us stick with ten Hag, then Amorim. I can’t speak on behalf of every United fan, but I strongly suspect the vast majority feel like I do; give Slot a 12 year contract and another half billion to spend.
It's not entitled at all. Why on earth do you keep talking about table positions? Maybe you should actually address what I (and many other Liverpool fans) are telling you, this isn't about league positions. It's entitled to think things will improve with this squad. It’s never too soon. Bring it backToo soon for the Boom / Bust chart?
The entitlement comes from your belief that you think this squad is capable of playing better football and that Slot is somehow holding them back. Klopp would have struggled just as badly without Alisson and Alexander-Arnold, and with massively faded Salah and Van Dijk. The squad is poor, not because of coaching, but because a fundamental lack of quality. It's not entitled at all. Why on earth do you keep talking about table positions? I couldn't care less if we've scraped 4th or 5th this season in a season when a very low points total has achieved it, I want him gone for other reasons.
Your list is stupid too for three reasons:
1) Slot wasn't a big name when he was hired by us, and our executives are paid to find suitable profiles that can replace Slot if and when he leaves. I'd hope they have lesser known names on their shortlist too.
2) if you insist on it being a big name, Alonso was available
3) that list of managers will be even worse in October/November when Slot likely gets sacked
For what it's worth I'd take Iraola and at a push Poch from that list, but not keen on the rest.
Hard to take this serious you’ve just compared Slot to Klopp as being equals. If Klopp falters in a season you just know his teams bounce back pretty quickly. Klopp turned players from average to good and from good to great. The entitlement comes from your belief that you think this squad is capable of playing better football and that Slot is somehow holding them back. Klopp would have struggled just as badly without Alisson and Alexander-Arnold, and with massively faded Salah and Van Dijk. How many Liverpool players do you think the top 3 teams in the league would be interested in signing as potential starters? Imo, it's basically Ekitike and maybe Szoboszlai, no-one else.
We've been outplayed by almost everyone in the league. If you think this squad can't be coached into playing better football than it has been, almost no squad in the league can be. And yet they've shown otherwise. The entitlement comes from your belief that you think this squad is capable of playing better football and that Slot is somehow holding them back. Bingo. Two really big issues right there. Both were regarded amongst the best at their positions before this season. If just one lived up to their potential at this point I would relax.Im really curious to see their squad planning in the summer.
Do they stick to the plan to build a team around Wirtz and Isak although they looked (very) bad this season?
Would you take ~80m for Wirtz this summer or give him another chance?Bingo. Two really big issues right there. Both were regarded amongst the best at their positions before this season. If just one lived up to their potential at this point I would relax.

We've bought Jacquet for CB (never watched him so no judgement from me on him) so think we just need one more, two if Konaté goes.I think they have question marks over every position;
Keeper - if Allison is done then they need a new one
Centre backs - they probably need at least one and a successor the VVD, who was previously arguably their best player, and is going to be impossible to replace
Full backs - unexpectedly one of the worst situations the two they bought aren’t great and if they don’t kick on then can you carry £30-40m full backs as squad options?
Centre mid - Szob and Gravenberch good enough, Mac Allister gone off a cliff and their other options invisible
Wirtz - don’t need to say anything here
Ekiteke - might never be the same
Isak - doesn’t look good and suffering badly with niggling injuries, which is not a good sign
Wide players - gakpo is awful and the young lad who’s name I forget is very good but can’t expect him to do it alone
Salah - gone
With their best players aging and last seasons record window looking dubious they have big issues. Another blast on the inhalers might get them some improvement, but they need a big window, again.

I think Kerkez and Tsimikas at left back is fine. Not groundbreaking but not a position we need to look at.
Centre mid, I disagree on. We have a huge problem there and Gravenberch/Szoboszlai are part of the problem. Szoboszlai's best form has come anywhere but there, he's not the type of midfielder I like so I'm slightly biased but I think he's benefitted from how much the rest have dropped off - for me he's no better than he was last season, outside of set pieces, yet he's our (deserved) player of the season. Grav has had a pretty terrible season too but I don't really blame him entirely either as he's been misused. Jones is the one centre midfielder I have hopes for, but he's another who's fallen out with Slot and looks likely to leave.
Rest is fair enough.
