Why?
This had them hall marks. They knew the season was dead but he could still get CL. They gave him the season. Unfortunately being a coach nowadays is about trust of the players. This was gone, there’s no point carrying on. A good move by the board. They need some kudos from the fans after all the players they’ve let leave for free.

I think Glasner did fine with what he had and is clearly an excellent manager but he set his teams up to defend and relied on individual brilliance from the likes of Eze. Iraola actually opted to go on the front foot against top 6 sides and was able to get results with attacking play. I wouldn’t say either gives a greater guarantee of success at a top side but I would certainly rather watch an Iraola coached team at this point.

I'm just joking. Personally I don't think his history at Boro is all that relevant to the United job. Would have been had he done so badly at Boro it was clear coaching wasn't for him, but that's not the case. The jobs are just so different.

Let's see how Iraola does first if he does end up their manager. How many managers have made a successful transition from managing a smaller Premier League team to one of the bigger names? There's not actually many.
