He had a significant say in at least one of their expensive signings. A quick Google says "Wirtz chose to join Liverpool over other clubs primarily due to a compelling sporting project presented by Arne Slot, who promised him a central role as the team’s key playmaker".If he's had no say in their signings he's been hard done by in my opinion. They've fecked up all the replacements for an ageing squad. That said the only Liverpool fan I know hates him so maybe there's more to it.
Hopefully this is the start/return of the dark days for them.
It's felt like they had the squad on the cusp of needing a proper overhaul for a few seasons now, in retrospect last year was probably the last gap of a once great side.If he's had no say in their signings he's been hard done by in my opinion. It's terrible in it's original Dutch but the Liverpool one is even worse. Do they really do this in the stadium? To the right
Do do do do do do
Exactly what Slot ordered. With ketchup on top.Two attacking wing-backs. Their defence is very weak.
VVD has been listening. Executed the excuse to perfection today.Klopp had a few belters.
Pre-VAR, they scored a goal that should have been ruled out for offside, and he went off on the ref for "overcompensating" for his mistake in a 1-1 draw.
He blamed a poor result on being on BT Sport for an early kick-off.
He blamed a poor result on being on BT Sport, who he alleged had shortened the amount of added time from 10 to 4 minutes.
The pitch was once too muddy.
The pitch was once too dry.
The pitch once had snow on it.
They played a game and it was windy.
As long as we're above them that'll doThere are four teams that can overtake them today. I put the chances of that happening around 0%, but they could end the day in 8th.
At the beginning of the season he said he didnt want a big squadSaw his press conference. Did the guy just moaned about not having a big squad thus not being able to rotate players? After spending that huge loads of money in the summer? Really?
Why is the media not grilling him on this? Had it been Amorim, you can bet your house they would have been on his arse all day.
long may it continueGood decisions from the management can improve results just as quickly as bad decisions can have detrimental effects.
The lack of planning for the aging of Robertson, Salah, van Dijk while getting rid of the facilitators of the high-energy style (Diaz and Darwin (who might have been a donkey in front of goal but added a lot of intensity) specifically) that allowed Salah to be as passive defensively is looking like a series of really bad decisions now. Combine that with pushing on for Isak after securing Ekitike and blowing £120 odd million there was really dumb even without hindsight when that money needed to be spent elsewhere in the squad.
Looks to me like those in charge don't understand what made them so good over the last decade.
It’s a pity that we’re playing Arsenal and really up against it to capitalise. But, before the weekend, the likelihood, odds wise, was that we’d be 4 behind them. So no matter what, it’s a great result for us.There are four teams that can overtake them today. I put the chances of that happening around 0%, but they could end the day in 8th.

We are the biggest club, so drive the most clicks, but we can’t moan too much when we’ve been an exploding clown car, driving over a cliff, for over a decade now.I could never understand why there is no-one to try get the media accountable for how they mock United (for any possible reason) in comparison to other teams

As for Slot not getting as much stick as Amorim might have done, for all the (very legitimate) caveats to it, he did win the title last season. That does give you a lot of credit in the bank.
Personally, I think he’s quite average, he just inherited a very settled, experienced side that benefited from having someone a bit more chill after Klopp’s heavy metal. That tonic lasted about 6 months but was enough to have the league sewn up.
Im pretty sure that had a United coach won the League to then proceed a historical run of bad form, he would draw even more criticism and banterWe are the biggest club, so drive the most clicks, but we can’t moan too much when we’ve been an exploding clown car, driving over a cliff, for over a decade now.

I think you must be posting from the wrong timeline. On another note, Slot always comes out with excuses and never gets pressured.
You've missed the time when Alison messed up a clearance and they conceded a goal because "Ali's feet were too cold"Klopp had a few belters.

It would be very different if he was the manager who built the team. But he wasn’t. It was Klopp’s team. I don’t think they even bought a new player. If Slot does get sacked, how many managers would have gotten sacked the season after winning the league? Leicester sacked Ranieri, and I'm sure Chelsea have probably done it a few times, anyone else?
It's not what you'd expect from Liverpool, considering they've only won the league 2 times in 36 years, to sack one of the managers who's won one of those titles when they're still 4th in the table (not as if they're bottom half or something!)
You'd imagine winning the league would at least earn you the right to try and turn things around until the end of the season!
I think the only player Liverpool signed last season was Chiesa. It actually helped Slot because he didn't have to worry about integrating new signings into the team, he could let them do their thing with a few tweaks here and there. It would be very different if he was the manager who built the team. But he wasn’t. It was Klopp’s team. I don’t think they even bought a new player.

Said it after all those losses that he needed to be gone and nothing has changed since, I have no idea why we are lingering on this, especially with Alonso currently available.
5 wins out of 18, it's been since Kenny Dalglish second stint at the club when we had so few wins over an 18-game stretch. And Dalglish had the worst squad available to him that I can remember at the club.
I know you jest, but we have been patient. We've been shite since mid-September and arguably all season if you included those 4-5 early wins to start the campaign.Title winning managers don't grow in trees, give him time, i'm sure he'll dig himself out of this hole. You just have to suffer a bit through the rough patch together, but he'll come good, be patient.

I was wrong on those wins, thought we were inevitably going to improve once the new players settled in, and that it was just nice to pick up wins in the meantime, but it only went downhill after that.
Do you think they may have looked at the United and Amorim situation and be slightly worried about what it means to bring in a new permanent manager mid-season? Of course this Liverpool side is not struggling nearly as much as United when Amorim came in, but there are still some parallels. They might draw the conclusion that if Alonso is the guy long-term, it's better to get him in the summer.Said it after all those losses that he needed to be gone and nothing has changed since, I have no idea why we are lingering on this, especially with Alonso currently available.
They actually have the wingbacks for it.It’d be good if Alonso came in and turned them into a 3-4-3/ 3-5-2 system and started badly, saying they’re the worst Liverpool team ever.
Could easily see them dropping points in their next three fixtures and pulling the plug before it’s too late for their season.
