Arne Slot | Liverpool manager | Bald sack watch

Would be crazy to sack him now, way too early. They need more losses to see if he really aint it

Exactly that. Won your opening five matches, then picked up just six more wins in the following 20.

Very lucky in those first 5 matches too. The Newcastle one in particular, 10 man Newcastle were all over them.

They're fortunate to be as high up in the table as they are. They've been rotten all season really.

He's won one game in about two months in the prem.

The press seem to be adding their CL wins into league form and hoping no-one notices but they certainly aren't back in any way, shape or form.

Think the last ten minutes basically ended their top 5 hopes so it is all on CL for them now if they don't want to be playing Europa league next season.
Will not relax until they're out of Europe.

Most of Europe looks so weak, it's not impossible to see them progressing.

To think it looks ominous for their chances this season with that start, before any of their big signings got going.

Yet they're now 5 points behind a United that were pretty rancid under Amorim!

Yeah a lot of people were saying if this is what Liverpool are like when they play badly, winning 5 in a row, what will they be like when they inevitably click into form , which at the time seemed a pretty decent prediction.

Thankfully, they never clicked into form and if anything have got worse and worse. Maybe they'll hit some form but I think they need to win the CL for Slot to keep his job.

Think signing Guehi would've kept them up there. He's already settled Man. City down at the back. Instead they didn't get him and are just going to go through this season with two CBs pretty much. Also now run out of RB options so for the week in week out grind that is the prem that has severe limitations no matter how good the forward line is (on paper).

Where's the rawk meltdown thread? :wenger:

Oh yeah. Feck off bald cnut giving interviews after beating United at OT last season.

9 man Spurs were all over us.

We're awful. Our form since start October extrapolated to a full season would see us with 46 points. That's nearly Amorim levels of bad. With a much better team. It's literally those 5 wins from 6 in august/september that's been keeping us afloat all season.

It's unfathomable he's still here.

He won the league last season. Deserves more time to rebuild team.

He needs another 400 million this summer to implement his plan. They just need to experience the "Storm will come" first.... or maybe they are experiencing this storm, who knows. Amorim probably knows what is meant to happen next.

Hilarious thing is they'd have gotten Guehi last summer if they hadn't tried to be cheap cnuts and leave it to the last day despite spending 250m on two strikers when they arguably didn't need sign both last summer

Sir Alex finished bottom half of the table for 2 seasons after finishing 2nd. Therefore it stands to reason that Arne Slot will definitely be Liverpool's Sir Alex Ferguson if they keep him. Hell, he's even won the league once already.

They need to give Slot a 26 year contract.

Can we mention the absolute abortion of that gold zipped jacket he was wearing yesterday. Looked like he was a geography teacher out on the pull in a wine bar in 1986.

They won't sack him unless he rants in a press conference about Jamie Carragher and their DoF and saying something about meaning signed to be Liverpool's manager not head coach.
Ignore the results

One win in seven league matches in 2026, having played Fulham, Leeds, Bournemouth, and Burnley in that time. 24 points from the last 20 games., those are Amorim numbers....
That one win was the hammering of Newcastle, another feather in the cap of the media darling Eddie Howe.

Yep. Six season new contract.

In truth, Liverpool may or may not sack him, but I think they will tolerate a non-CL season before he goes because he did win the title and he'd argue he's rebuilding the team and that's the reason for the drop-off. Now, if they get results so terrible before the season is up, then he's likely gone (like loads of losses back-to-back as they had earlier). Other than that, and I'm just thinking from "their side", it's not easy to get rid of a manager who did the title merely a season ago when you've also given him half a billion to rebuild a squad.

On the other hand, you'd look at Alonso, Liverpool ties, and think, "the squad ain't this bad" - then look at us and Chelsea (though we're outplaying Chelsea, though they are getting the same kind of results) and think, "maybe a new manager with a simpler system gets more out of this squad -- re Alonso).

He's stunning. Glowing, even.

I am sorry but what a ridiculously bad-looking man.

I don't really get this "rebuild" talk.

It's basically planning for life after van Dijk and Salah, and they've already got a jump on the latter leaving with last summer's spending.

Marmadashvili is already in to replace Alisson. Frimpong has come in to replace Alexander-Arnold, with Kerkez already in to replace Robertson. Isak, Wirtz and Ekiteke balance the loss of Jota and the departures of Diaz and Nunez. Szoboszlai is 25, Mac Allister 27, Jones 25 and Gravenberch 23, so it's not like the midfield needs much.

About the only area that needs properly addressing is centre-back, and they've brought in Leoni and just committed £55 million to Jacquet, both of which they seem to hope will be in and around the first team from next season.

More from the perspective of Slot than any necessary truth to it. City, to be honest, are far more in a rebuild.

I think, finally, City and Liverpool have paid lots of money for players which, though not shit at all, are not what previous teams had. Which is good for us.

If he's arguing he needs a rebuild before things improve, I'd argue that's only likely to hasten his exit.

He's just had over £400 million of players added to a title-winning team and they're currently 6th, four points off the (likely) final CL place, and 17 points off 1st. The only reason they're not 7th is because they've scored one more goal than Brentford.

Fail to beat Sunderland on Wednesday and they could be level on points with, or behind, Everton.

A lad I work with is a Liverpool fan and he seems to think Slot isn't in any danger of getting sacked and will almost certainly be there next season.

He said the club put out a video midweek of Slot, the sporting director and the chairman talking about the long term future etc.

No arguments from me, but I just try to imagine what his excuse is.

Hope he's right.

Got to hope he gets backed with another £400m Summer and hopefully a contract extension that is hideous to get out of.

They will end up at worst 5th. I think sacking him at the end of the season is harsh.

Could still do a Rafa from 2005, who finished in fifth place in the Premier League 37 points behind eventual winners yet still went on to win the Champions league.

A repeat of that wouldn't be a good bald watch at all.

If they crash out of both cup competitions and limp to, say, 8th, he’ll be gone, but if he comes top 6 and gets to the CL quarters or beyond, I think they’ll stick with him. Won’t have much rope next season, could easily seem him being gone after 10 games.
