Bearing in mind we came 15th we can't exactly say the standard was that low though! The competition for the title wasn’t exactly fierce last season, in fairness.

United were obviously fecking shocking. But the top of league was really uninspiring, in my opinion.Bearing in mind we came 15th we can't exactly say the standard was that low though!
Be kind. He’s going to be your coach soon.Don't get how people can overlook all the red flags speaking against Slot this season. There are almost no recognizable patterns of play or automatisms. It's not as if the players miss clear passing lanes or miss easy chances. The player with the ball is fecked because he rarely has any real options. As a result, they pass it backwards until either the keeper or a defender has to go long. But they don't even have players who are good in the air up front. And on the rare occasions one of the attackers ends up in a good position with a bit of space, nobody is making any runs. The box occupation for crosses is terrible as well. All of that are clearly coaching issues.
And there doesn't seem to be any individual coaching either. Ekitike and Gravenberch have been missing the right window to release the ball for the whole season. The defenders take risks in the build up when they shouldn't and avoid it when a midfielder is actually finding the space to be available for a pass. Wirtz retains possession when he could attempt a dribble and always goes for the same type of finish, Gakpo is constantly doing the same trick of cutting inside and launching it into a block, Salah doesn't take his head up in front of the goal and has missed multiple opportunities to set others up for tap ins, etc.
Most of that is up to the coach. His responsibility is to drill in build up structures and eliminate patterns of flawed decision making. There are definitely arguments going for Slot as well but none of them can be seen on the pitch, IMO.
Maybe just copium but I'm hoping the fact there's no talk of a contract extension is more relevant than what we're feeding journalists.

High press, work rate was a hallmark for Klopp and that appears binned under SlotI can see excuses being brought out for him, but if you look deeper during the PL win, when all was being forgiven because he won the thing, the rot was deeper. Salah bailed them out so many times last season.
This season he can’t, his body seems to have said no chance. Or he’s not playing for slot anymore. Either way, plan A has gone.
Regardless of player form, injuries etc all Liverpool fans will tell you about the pointlessly boring football he’s implemented. He has slowed Liverpool right down and taken away their very biggest tool, fast football.
I can genuinely see them having the attitude of "We're not like other clubs, we're not like united or Chelsea, we won a title with slot, we give him time"
Long may it continue, give him all the time in the world, means rest of the league can write you off nedt season.
Liverpool is run by actual competent people, as opposed to us or Chelsea so I think they will be very pragmatic in their decisionI can genuinely see them having the attitude of "We're not like other clubs, we're not like united or Chelsea, we won a title with slot, we give him time"

It feels like pragmatic choice is to replace Slot if they can find a better coach. Nagelsman has to be one of the top candodates
United’s recent transfer activity has been a lot better than Liverpool’s, both in terms of bringing players in and removing players.Liverpool is run by actual competent people, as opposed to us or Chelsea so I think they will be very pragmatic in their decision

Come again? A competent club would have signed a CB last summer, or not spend the amount they did last summer.Liverpool is run by actual competent people, as opposed to us or Chelsea so I think they will be very pragmatic in their decision

I'm not so sure many Pool fans would agree. Certainly a couple of my mates that support them don't particularly care for who runs them, even taking into account the title last season.Liverpool is run by actual competent people, as opposed to us or Chelsea so I think they will be very pragmatic in their decision

I would have agreed before but not so much now. Not really the summer transfer window (other than the Gakpo contract extension) that has me changing my mind though, everyone makes mistakes. It's everything since then.I'm not so sure many Pool fans would agree. I thought everyone was super pleased that Edward’s and Hughes, the guys that helped klopp build his teams were back? Many were saying that they were the best in the PL etc. the reality is that a DoF is only as good as the manager.I would have agreed before but not so much now. One of the Liverpool journalists (forget who) had an article out a few weeks ago saying FSG is "allowing Liverpool to drift" which is how it's starting to feel. We seemingly don't care that we're in massive danger of missing out on CL football, and we're somehow in a situation where Edwards, Hughes and Slot are all left with just over a year on their contract.
The most alarming thing about the Sam Wallace article last night wasn't about Slot being kept on, since I think that won't happen now, it's that there's a line in it saying Edwards and Hughes only ever planned to stay 3 years. Why are we hiring our leadership team knowing they're moving on after 3 years? They should be on longer deals than managers, so now we're left with a potential sacking and hiring of a manager by people with no invested interest beyond this season.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't happy with how they were doing before. What's changed is the alarming fact they seemed to come back to what should be long term position (or join in Hughes' case) on a 3 year deal with no plans to stay longer. Talk of them going to Saudi in the summer too.I thought everyone was super pleased that Edward’s and Hughes, the guys that helped slot build his teams were back? This seems the most logical and obvious outcome. They would be crazy to not go for Xabi this summer, right?
At the start of the season I thought Liverpool would win another title. They done what we used to do under Fergie, win the league and go out and buy a few statement players to shake the squad up and excert your dominance. Luckily they got it wrong. They should have sold Salah and brought in Mbeumo and Samenyo. They could still have bought Ektikte or Isak.
Having spent that kind of money they are still £300 to £400 million away. They didn’t need two players in that position and as the season has unfolded it’s obvious that they needed to replace Konate and maybe even VVD.
Where are they going to get two top centre backs in the summer and a Salah replacement. They also need another Left back. You have to give Slot Credit, he won the title, he benefited from what Klopp left him and city’s demise.
The PL is at its weakest point in my memory (bar the Leicester year) I just hope our recruitment is quality in the summer because whatever team does get it right could actually win the league. I’m hoping for 3 midfielders, we need two. Liverpool need a defence but I am also convinced Man City are going to need a new manager. Do Liverpool want to fight Chelsea and City for a top manager?
Yup.They would be crazy to not go for Xabi this summer, right?
Keep seeing you mention this but it's not "likely" at all we finish below 7th given the current standings, even with how awful we are playing. And one year out of Europe wouldn't see us short on money either for incoming transfers. The way they are playing right now they will likely not be in Europe next season so they won't have the money or the need to bring in lots of new players for next season.
They have doubts about Alonso according to Liverpool fan and respected journo Rory Smith. They would be crazy to not go for Xabi this summer, right?

We've never finished below 8th in PL history but you wouldn't back us to finish top half when we are 5th with 7 games to go, makes total sense that. You couldn't beat Igor Tudors Spurs at home. In fact you were lucky not to lose that game.
Looking at the fixtures you will struggle to pick up many if any points. There's loads of teams within 6 or 7 points of you. I wouldn't back Liverpool to be in the top half by the end of the season.
The players have given up on the manager and you are in freefall. I can see the likes of Everton, Brentford, Fulham, Brighton and maybe even Newcastle finishing above you.
I mean I’d love this but this simply won’t happen. You couldn't beat Igor Tudors Spurs at home. In fact you were lucky not to lose that game.

I'd put some nice money on that if I were you if you really believe that, will give you pretty good odds.

Liverpool will probably be in UCL next season.
Exactly, United never finished outside the top 3 in premier league history .... until we did, just took a change in managerWhat does history have to do with anything?
Look at your remaining seven games and tell me how many more points you think you will pick up?
You've taken one point from Wolves, Spurs and Brighton in March.
It's more likely we pick up 15 than 5. You act like we're playing PSG every week, we got home games against Fulham and Palace in the next three GWs, another home game to an awful and inconsistent Chelsea team, and who knows what the mentality of Villa (maybe already top 4 qualified by then) and Brentford (maybe nothing to play for by then) might be at the end of the season. What are you basing this on though?
They look all over the place defensively and can't score goals. I'd be amazed if they pick up more than five points from their remaining seven games.

It'll probably be around 10 and it will be enough for top 8, and higher depending on other results. E.g. the four teams below us this weekend: Chelsea play City, Brentford and Everton play each other, and Fulham play us at Anfield. IF results go our way we could be 4 points clear off 6th. We are bad and inconsistent, but the teams around us also drop points on a regular basis.
Long rest doesn't always work out. It can sometimes have a negative impact, especially at the business end of the season. I actually think it's better to be playing more match intensity football than training camps right now.I'm not acting like you play PSG every week.
Look at your last 3 league games against Wolves, Spurs and Brighton. You scored a fortunate goal in all three of them and were lucky not to concede more. One point flattered you.
Why are you talking about the potential mentality of other teams and ignoring your own? The players have stopped playing for the manager. Van Dijk literally admitted that you gave up against Man City last weekend.
How confident are you that you'll beat Fulham? They have been resting for weeks whereas you've just taking a pasting in France a few days ago.
