Arne Slot | Liverpool manager | Bald sack watch

Anfield was like a funeral last night for the most part.

It always is. They belt out YAWN at kick-off then sit on their hands until full-time. If they're feeling a bit giddy, they might sing it again near full-time.

He should take a page from Mourinhos book. "Every wall is a door" that means he should keep playing Writz until he fulfill his gerstiny as a ballon d'or winner

he's not getting sacked
I think he will if they lose the derby this weekend. It will be humiliating for them. Easier said than done though as we haven't started the best at the Hill Dicky. At Goodison we do them I reckon.

Or if they're not feeling too giddy they'll leave at minute 87. No concidence Klopp felt the need to call out the home support multiple times, that would never be necessary at Utd

I don't know why he's under so much pressure. He won the PL, which was so unexpected and now he will get them in the CL next season (which was what was expected from him anyway).

They've looked poor for most of the season (even when they've been winning). Out of all comps, 24 points down on where they were last season, hasn't got the best out of most of their signings etc. Loads of reasons.

I wouldn't be too surprised if they stick with him.

They've been shite this season, but they dropped off massively in 2020/21 after winning the league, and again in 2022/23 after challenging.

He'll need a strong start to next season though. If they get to October/November and the season it's already looking like a battle for a CL spot, he's almost certainly gone.

However, I think the most likely outcome is Alonso coming in this summer.

He's lost the fans aswell, that's big in Liverpool.

He's lucky that the teams behind are just as inconsistent this season, especially Chelsea.

No disagreement from me.

I'm just remembering Rodgers getting to start 2015/16, despite them largely turning on him for how 2014/15 went.

It's definitely "wouldn't be surprised" rather than "think it'll happen", from me.

It's a very United like situation because if they do keep him in the job then you just know that the first loss next season the knives will be out for him so very tricky call for them.

I think Everton can absolutely take them. And normally id be in the camp of expecting Everton to have their bellies tickled by Liverpool.

I just dont see slot getting sacked.

He’s been there best attacker all season tbf. Massive loss and horrible injury at his age. The injuries plus collapse of Salah has probably bought Slot more time.
Which we are all thankful for. At least another season of slot being in charge please.

Hopefully it will affect their pursuit of a CL spot.

Slot whinging about the possible pen last night. Not a word about the 2 pens PSG could easily have got - which VAR let Liverpool off on. That's why we love football, hilarious one eyed nonsense.

Getting to a position where you have a half fit Isak, telling everyone he's only got 45mins in him, then knowing he's coming off at half time is incredible stuff.

Because he's spent a huge amount of wad - almost unprecedented levels, to take them from champions to miles off. People can see last year was a bit of charlatan act with the withering remains of the Klopp era, combined with a strangely successful Salah show.

The only surprise is how he hadn't worked them down levels, Moyesy United style from day 1 and actually nabbed a title.

If I enter a Marathon and nobody else makes any sort of effort to win, and Salah comes by to pick me up in his car and drive me to the finish line, am I really a Marathon winner?

Liverpool going after the redneck crowd?

Liverpool sponsoring NASCAR

They already made a play for the MAGA crowd before.

I hate the cnuts, but they can't chose who will wear they merch. And making a meal of it is exactly what that coked wierd wanted.

I really thought he would be gone after the second psg game. Completely confused, they seemed to be well run for so long but I guess they figure to stay in CL run they are better off with him.
More reliance on a plainly unfit Isak.

That’s terrible. Promising player and I do think he would have done well here as well.

What do they do now?

The most worrying thing is all the talk is that he's staying for next season with or without CL football.

Still hoping it's nonsense, he should have been sacked months ago.

Doubt anyone could ever really know that. I thought the second xabi was available it was game over

Just via mouthpieces. Unfortunately, the guys who decide these things are also leaving next summer, so we're in a bad way.

Upper management is leaving? I had no idea. Guy who taught me how to shoot at summer camp is at every home game. He even gave me a jersey when i was 15 but i had already had my sights on United

Lots of excuses pre match. Injuries, not having players available.

Spent almost half a billion in the summer. Get on with it.

He’ll likely get them top 5 but I wonder if it will be enough to save him? What’s the consensus among Liverpool fans?

Don't know if there's a consensus, but if there is I'd guess it'd be that we want him to go, but think he'll stay.

They will keep him i think. They also kept klopp after finishing 8th (1st season) and 5th (2022/2023)

Which is good for me. I hope they stick with him for years to come because I dont see him as an exceptional manager like Klopp

As much as I dont want Liverpool to get CL football. I do not mind so much if it keeps slot in his job and Alonso doesn't come in.

Is he the best manager in football history?

The answer seems obvious at this point...

You couldn't beat Igor Tudors Spurs at home. In fact you were lucky not to lose that game.

Looking at the fixtures you will struggle to pick up many if any points. There's loads of teams within 6 or 7 points of you. I wouldn't back Liverpool to be in the top half by the end of the season.

The players have given up on the manager and you are in freefall. I can see the likes of Everton, Brentford, Fulham, Brighton and maybe even Newcastle finishing above you.

What are you basing this on though?

They look all over the place defensively and can't score goals. I'd be amazed if they pick up more than five points from their remaining seven games.
Any update?

Your claims were outlandish at the time and they look even more wildly off the mark just 10 days after making them.

They were lucky to win again yesterday. Had quite a few of those results this season. They'll get CL but there isn't anything that would want me to stick with him after the summer if I were a Liverpool fan.

Tbh I think by far the biggest reason why they might consider sacking him is Alonso’s availability.

Otherwise it’s a bit plastic to fire a manager for a mediocre season, during which he gets a top 5 finish and delivers UCL football no less, after having won it the previous year. If Alonso weren’t in the picture the contemplation alone would smack of real hubris. Like Liverpool are Real Madrid who expect to win or challenge every year or something.
