Trossard gone. There is talk of Odegaard and Jesus leaving too. So I expect them to revamp their attack this summer.
 
Bit weird this.
I thought Trossard was clutch for them at times when all else failed.
Can be a cracking player for all Serie A teams, and every Bundelsiga team bar Bayern.
 
Yeah, it's a shame but it's the right time. He's 31 with a year on his contract and we really need to upgrade our attack. He'll forever be a cult hero to Arsenal fans.

Jesus will go, I'd be surprised if Odegaard left but you never know.
We've been linked with Bouaddi, Guimaraes, Tzolis, Barcola and Rogers but nothing has really come of any of them so far and it's been a very quiet and slow start to our transfer window.

I think that's just the way it is in a World Cup year.
Once it's over the transfers will happen fast.
 


Arteta needs to look after Saliba, Rice, Saka and Odegaard.
 
Do they have enough money to bring in proper cover for so many players.

They need a Trossard replacement, want a top striker, and will probably start the season without Saliba, Rice and Saka. So many games and so little rotation has taken a toll on those players.

They will have to think seriously about what they prioritize this summer now.
 
At least they have 10 other centre backs to choose from, albeit not as good.

Can't remember a single time when a player putting off surgery didn't make things worse in the long term.
 


That’s unlucky for Saliba. Big blow for Arsenal as he most likely won’t be available until next year, and back injuries can be unpredictable. Hopefully Saliba makes a full recovery.
 
Just said in the Rice thread but this has been a brutal world cup for them with this and how much Rice was ran into the ground.
 
Always harder to sustain being number 1 than reaching number 1. Saliba, Saka, Rice have been run well into the ground. Odegaard looks truly past it. I think they may be in trouble.

To add to that, their transfer window hasn't got going yet at all, though still time. At this rate are they getting an upgrade at left wing, number 10, striker, as well as Bruno G? It's a lot to get through when you have zero of those so far.

Unfortunately I think it will be City who take advantage if Arsenal do drop.

I've got a small part of me that thinks that all we have to do is keep up a similar points total as we did under Carrick and we will definitely challenge.

Even if we have to rotate loads in the CL.

They are probably still favorites, though? It's between them and City, I guess, but I don't really rate Maresca. Though I guess Liverpool won the title with Arne Slot after Klopp left. So why shouldn't Maresca be able to do the same at City in a similar scenario. Having two of the most impressive players at the WC in Haaland and Rodri at the club should be enough to carry them through most games. I guess casually adding the most expensive English player in history after spending haft a billion over the past two seasons helps as well. Let's see who Arsenal brings in.
 
I definitely want us to go big in the transfer market this summer. We've reportedly made PL record revenue and I'd ideally want to give Rice, Saka and Saliba the first five games off so they could return Oct 10th after the international break. As it is, Saliba is likely out until 2027 anyway.

Arsenal (and England/France) have run that trio into the ground.

You can’t blame England for Saka. He didn’t start many games at this World Cup and they did try to look after him.

I wasn't talking about World Cup fixtures for Saka and Rice. More the friendlies and qualifiers against weaker opposition in the last few years. Players at English clubs already have a stupid number of fixtures, including being the only top league with three domestic competitions. Ligue 1 bends over backwards to help PSG with fixtures, whereas the PL doesn't care at all.

We're wearing our players out, all because each individual entity wants to extract as much as possible with no thought of the larger picture. And I include Arsenal and Arteta in that, but at least they're paying the players wages.

My thoughts exactly. Unless you consider any of Barcola/Rogers/Diomande "superstars" (I sure as feck don't).

True proven superstars will probably hardly ever get sold these days if I had to guess until more agents insist on RC's on these contracts. Just too expensive unless you're an oil club, you're better off buying them young.
 
Tzolis is a great signing. Underrated, he is a top winger. He is better than Trossard, Martinelli, Madueke and i am not sure Rogers is better than him.

A guy that has his eyes and heart set on Barca, a 100M scam that is neither a LW nor a CM, a grade A cnut that would cost too much and wtf is a Konsa? Bang average defender, that will also be overpriced ans ask for "England international" wages. I'd rather shop for another Mosquera type of signing to get some cover.
The market is so poor, no real available quality, this is going to be a summer of gambles and i would not bet on any of them.

Calm down, mate.

While I’d prefer every new signing to have pics of them when the were younger wearing an Arsenal shirt like Saliba, it’s not gonna happen. I personally don’t care if a player would prefer to play for Barca, especially if they’re South American. I just care whether they play well for Arsenal. And seeing as Alvarez has played very well for City and Athletico, it’s quite clear he somehow manages to perform for non-Barca teams. It’s almost like it’s his profession or something.

Rogers has played more games on the wings than any other position, including less than 24 hours ago when he bagged an assist for England’s only goal in a World Cup semifinal. All after bagging 26 G/A and winning the EL as player of the tournament. Overpriced? Maybe. “Scam”? Huge overreaction.

Do I like Bruno G as a person? Not particularly. Will Newcastle demand more than his market value due to his importance to them as a player and captain? Certainly. He’s still one the best midfielders in the PL, so I don’t care about any of that. What I do care about is bringing in a midfielder with a high range and volume of passing who can both play alongside and in place of Rice. Which Guimeraes absolutely can do.

As for getting another Mosquera, oh great - why didn’t I think of that? Obviously it would be great to pick up one of the best young CB in Europe for cheap because they have a year left on their contract and won’t renew. However the chances are we won’t have that kind of market opportunity two years running. If Saliba is out for 4 or 5 months as is being reported, I’m not interested in penny pinching or dealing with a signing adapting to this league. If that means paying an “England international” wages to a *checks notes* England international, then so be it.

- Purple patch. There's always question marks about who is a 100M player. He is 100% not on the list. Not invited to the party, not even as a +1.
- Sure, if they allow it to happen, at least he can cover for Rice while he rebuilds himself.
- I don't rate Konsa one bit and i can't believe he's even anywhere near the rumours section for us. United might need a CB or two and i bet they won't get near him, nor should we.

This is a 300M+ window.Just because we won big money doesn't mean we have to spend it all if the right targets are not there.

He got 30 G/A in 24/25 (including 9 in the CL). It’s okay to say so you don’t actually know all that much about a player, you know.

Reports are that £80-85m will get it done. Which is overpriced, but still worth doing.

We need to spend enough that we can rotate. Norgaard was cheap, but he was still a waste of money as Arteta clearly didn’t trust him. If we’re going to avoid destroying our best player, we need rotation options of serious quality. Thankfully, as champions we can attract higher quality players who aren’t demanding to be played in every game. We’ve got to take advantage of that.

Out of interest, who would your picks be? Saying mine came to £325m excluding Hincapie (Alvarez £100m / Rogers £100m / Bruno G £80m / Konsa £45m) how would you spend that money?
 
Personally, I think they are going to struggle. They won the league but their performances after January were horrid.

Also hope the refs have a plan for their cheating.
