Gave it away badly a couple of times, but he put a shift in. We can't keep relying on him though.

Can we not play him ever again? What a terrible player he is, I seriously cannot understand how can someone decide he is good enough to start a game for us. Even if we don't have absolutely anyone to play in his position. Just play Romero there or whoever.

His reaction for their goal was absolutely pathethic.
You can't really legislate for Alli doing that

If one of our players scored that goal the last thing you'd think is that it was poor defending... It was just a great goal.

Good lad and works hard and has his qualities but he fecks up once a game and costs us. Hopefully phased out this year but he deserves our respect

Come on...he wasn't bad today. Give Alli some credit for the goal. It was class. As for the Moura incident that happened because of a poor pass from Maguire. He had to stretch for the pass and once he got it the only chance he had was to try and beat Moura. Other than that, he was ok today. Not great, but not "he should never play again" poor...
Agreed.

Think half the people probably have their post for this thread saved in draft unfortunately.

But yeah, he wasn't at all bad today... No one who started played badly.

He should have been phased out at least 3 years ago.

I am not really blaming him 100%, even though he should be more tight there, but just look at his reaction in one of the replays they showed for VAR and you'll agree with me. Acted like biggest pussy on the pitch and not like a captain and oldest player that he is.

Putting him in first XI, heck even giving him a minute, should be prison offence.

Also, pretty sure he was beaten in the first minute of the game. Defensively and 1 on 1 he is non existant, but that's down to his years and I can understend that.

This guy is twice the fullback Brandon Williams is at the moment and people still abuse him . We really have some clueless fans. Ashley has been a great servant for years and demands more respect.

He's not good enough but neither are Williams or Shaw. We need a new left back.

He wasnt terrible but he was the reason it ended 2-1 instead of 2-0.

Was pretty gash at times but redeemed himself a few times too. Thought Lucas had the beating of him often and was surprised Jose took him off.

We really need a new left back.

Nah. That was Dele Alli being surprisingly brilliant.... In 99 situations out of 100 the player brings the ball down in front of them.

Could he do a bit better? Sure... But sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say great goal.

I play a game when he's on the field called "down the line Ashley"

Rules:
Every time he hits a ball down the line, I drink.
If the ball goes out I finish the glass
If the ball goes to the opposition I drink half the glass

Needless to say I'm hammered

It was a good turn but Young was oblivious to Moura (i think) before that and he was content to just watch Fred attempt to take Alli on.

This. I'm not a big fan but that's true. I'm feeling more confident with him in the team right now than Williams. Some never stop to overrate the young players after 20min of good football. Good game by Young.

I personally dont get the abuse Young gets. Hes a real threat going forward, passes well and links up with Rash/Martial, his defending is reasonable but more than anything he brings experience.
I see a few slagging Williams, this guy is just a kid but has huge potential give him a chance ffs.its early days.

Decent game from him. Just should have done better with the goal and also gave the ball away sometimes. Better than Williams right now, but Shaw should probably get his place back.

Hes our Milner, simple as.

Has a shite game: hes past it,
Has an average game: taking a kids spot,
Has a good game: about time, he's paid enough!

Modern fans hate these players, but they are essential IMO.

● Been around the block
● Happy to play a minor roll
● Pass much needed experienced advice to our young squad
● Raring to prove a point everytime selected
● Played under Don Fergusioni
● Can teach everyone how to react when a bird shits in your mouth

What more do you guys want???

So poor for their goal...
Played over 500 PL games and looked like a rookie going for the ball...
Either you go in full blast or just be clever and cover the area behind Ali/Fred

The biggest mistake they made on that was that Young and Fred were kind of doubling Alli but doing it standing side by side. One has to take him, and the other backs him up. Then when Alli flicks it he can't split them and finish. Instead, the other clears it away. But other than that, Young was decent today and people need to start assessing him on his play on the field, not the previously established chip they already have on their shoulder about Young...

Mostly good but there is a mistake on him, cue the posters that act like it's a surprise to see a winger not looking incredibly comfortable as a fullback.
He's being judged as a fullback because he's been playing as a fullback for years, hence the frustration with persisting with him.

I like Young but he's terrible. Milner is good isn't he? (haven't seen him play this season)

Very poor last night. A few defensive mistakes and he gave the ball away a lot.

Another player that i'd have in the squad but really would't want as a first team player. Good news that Shaw is back...... As always, it's fitness that holds him back.

This. Williams enthusiasm has blinded them from the obvious. He could end up being a decent back up but for now young and Shaw are ahead of him.

Hes clearly past it, but we should refrain from abuse. Hes been nothing but a model professional his entire time here and the reason we had to rely so much on him is because hes obviously made from steel. Hes 34 and hardly missed a single game from injury. Imagine if some of other players were this durable

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Young has certainly had some bad games, but this wasn't one of them. Overall it was quite a decent match from him. It just feels that some people dislike him so much that unless he has a brilliant match that consider it a poor one. He was far better than Williams has been the last few games.

Wow the abuse Young gets here is mind boggling.

He wasn't to blame for that goal. Seriously, if you want to blame, blame the poor clearances.

In normal situation not many player would attempt that flick.

"Ashley Young made more tackles (2) as an 88th-minute substitute than Stones, Rodri and Fernandinho combined (1)."
