Aurelien Tchouameni | Chat **** get banged

Much rather him than Tonali. Although Real being open to sell him would concern me a bit. He was highly rated before but not sure how he's getting on at Real now?

Whenever I've watched him, I do rate how he seems to be everywhere on the pitch. Very mobile and energetic midfielder. We need legs in there next to Mainoo.

I am wary when Madrid are willing to sell a player to us. Looking at his injury record, it's not perfect, but far from Varane levels where I'd be concerned.

Madrid will absolutely make us pay a premium. Don't like this at all

Quality player, great age if we can get a decent deal I’d be all for it. We’d still need another to come in.

Great player. We were heavily linked with him when he was at Bordeaux, could be a bit like the Varane transfer in that regard.

One of those players who looks absolutely dominant on his day, but his day doesn't happen often enough. At a half-decent price alongside at least one if not two other midfielders, definitely. But I wouldn't want to pour most of our budget (and hopes) onto him alone.

Meh. Better than Camavinga at least

For all the doubts about buying a player from Real, I would say Varane and Casemiro despite their age and injuries etc, have still been some of our better signings in terms of performance over the past decade.

If we sign him, he might not live up to what will likely be a very high fee and expectations, but you could at least guarantee he won't be another Antony or Sancho level disaster.

Better than Baleba

Alongside Anderson + Mainoo in the squad that could be a handy midfield and one which would allow us to blood the likes of Thwaites without the same pressures

It's never happening guys, player using us for new contract.

No thanks. To him or Camavinga. Madrid will just use the money to buy the no8/no6 we should have signed.

I can't say I know a great deal about him other than we were interested in him before he moved to Madrid.

Why not both? We don't have Tchouameni midfielders.

They are going to sign Rodri, so that ship has sailed.
No guarantee that will happen as telegraph article said. City have offered Rodri a new deal. Also Enzo is trying to get a move to Madrid.

Should be a interesting summer for CM movements.

I dreamed of a day like this

On my knees. Please

Yup. I'd take him.
I'd be wary under most circumstances - why do they want to let him go? should we not target the player they're replacing him with?
But they're replacing him with Rodri who isn't available to us and it would be fecking great for us if they did buy him.
I think he's good. I think him, Bellingham and Camavinga are too similar and aren't a good midfield combination despite all being very good midfielders. So one of them leaving has always felt on the cards. I'd be wary of Camavinga's injury record but have a lot less doubts about Tchouameni.

Not his biggest fan to be honest but he’s a solid player. For the right price, sure, but I would not break the bank for him.

Regardless, there isn't a standout mid on the continent that the other top sides are trying to poach that we should be in for instead. It's the usual candidates like Wharton, Anderson etc. unfortunately.

So many of these midfield targets just not consistently and routinely good enough at passing the football. Alarming endorsement of the modern game

Because I've seen him play for 4 years

Isn't this also because he's been used in random makeshift positions for half his RM career?

I swear I used to watch him play CB when all the RM CB's tore their ACL's simultaneously.

He is just barely above average. A jack of all trades and master of none. For the price we would most likely have to pay, no thanks.

He is still a very good player. This thread is bizarre.

Him and Anderson, yes please.

Could easily be wrong, but my impression is that he's largely a destroyer/physicality merchant, like a better version of Palhinha or something?

If so, I'd be hoping we'd be in for more well-rounded midfielders.

He probably played his best football for us at CB honestly

He's far far far too slow and lax on the ball, not even particularly good when it comes to shielding the back line, and has generally slow reactions. Often a red card risk

He's a good passer when he has time and space, and a big body taking up a lot of space when defending in a deep block, especially in and around the box, that's it.
