Well he fought Valverde in training apparently

If an offer comes he's gone

Oh! Valverde then!

On a serious note, Tchouameni almost feel like the opposite of Casemiro in terms of mentality. I really, really worry about that risk.

If there is an opening I’d hope the narrative would be getting his high wages off their hands rather than buying an elite rare midfield talent.

If Real are the pinacle of the market, there should be some natural bargaining to be had as any movement is based on them wanting to change out a player, rather than reluctantly letting a player leave.

Id hope to some extent Tchouameni could go the same way as Makelele, Casemiro and have more freedom, appreciation of wider game at a new club. His numbers seem to show him as a pillar over 4yrs but generally isnt regarded for that stability and perhaps sacrifice of his game?

I think he's an excellent player. If they want rid, we need to be taking the piss out of them like others do to us.

How do we make the wages work. We putting a 200K cap on wages but he's already on 200+.

Let's hope he shows that same fight for us on the pitch! Is it time to unzip??

It feels like we finally, for the first time in a long while, have a really good squad with no bad apples. There is plenty of Real Madrid-supporters questioning the mentality and attitude og Tchouameni on the pitch. Now he is apparantly fighting with Valverde, who always came across like a very professional player in my opinion.

I dont doubt the talent, but I do doubt the character.

Well tchoumeni is far from a bad apple and the one with the good character.

Valverde on the otherhand, is a questionable character.

Problems with Xabi Alonso and Bielsa, allegedly fighting a player off the pitch and now fighting Tchoumeni.

There has never been anything to suggest Tchouameni has a bad attitude.
Teammates fighting in training happens all the time

Where are you gauging these opinions from Real Madrid fans from? I’ve never heard anything about him having a poor attitude before.

We once had a combative midfielder that was prone to the odd training ground scrap, by the way.

incentives. His Basic is 200k and he makes more based on incentives and bonuses. Also a healthy signing on bonus too.

There is no cap on wages at United least of all 200k a week where are you all getting this .

To be fair, the guy he fought mocked his wife for having a miscarriage.

I think most of us would be swinging in those situations.

I think there has been one in here even. And I’m not talking about Balotelli-bad, but more in terms of how he apply himself on the pitch. If you have never seen these opinions on him you should really read up.

If mourinho is going to madrid, there is very little chance Tchouameni comes here. He is like the modern version of what mou wants in a defensive midfielder, i d be very surprised if they are open to a sale for him. Only way he comes is, he tells em he wants to leave and go to us, like varane and case did. I doubt that happens.
What is modern about him? Not picking on you, just curious as he looks pretty traditional DM to me. Very good defensively, but rather limited in build up play / progressing the ball. Whenever I watched Casemiro in Madrid, his passing was much more influential and clever compared to Tchouameni, and even then he was mostly a classic DM. Rodri is definitely modern but he's also elite on the ball, Rice maybe is more on the "modern" side since he's good at basics but also at progressing the ball forward. I wouldn't say this is Tchouameni strength.

I think this is the whole argument isn’t it. He’s been given a role and he carries it out perfectly. I remember watching him at Monaco and he seemed more Cesc Fabregas than Makelele.

I watched my recommended ours of Casemiro and the player we got compared to the player I use to watch was totally different. He was a more complete player than I seen. Far enough if you seen a different player at Madrid. But that’s just what I watched.

Agreed, there is no actual cap, but since INEOS came in, no player has gotten 200k or more, MdL is on 190k, Cunha and Mbeumo are on less, and assuming Cas and Rashford leave, it will be only Bruno and Mount on 200k+, Mount was in the previous management, so it seems they might have a policy of not overpaying in wages, and this could work since we can guarantee CL football next season.

I think it would be doable. If he’s after Casemiro money, they won’t entertain it, but if they set Bruno, as captain and best player, as the ceiling, then making him our second highest paid player would seem reasonable. Wouldn’t be a massive bump from what he’s on, but I doubt he’d get a massive bump if he extends at Real. He’d also get that small pay rise for 5 years.

All moot really, as this all hinges on Rodri going to Real. That doesn’t happen, neither does this.

What is this guy supposed to offer?

On pictures he looks proud and full of ego and fecking miserable all the time. Didn't we learn from the Ronaldo-experiment?

This group of real players are cancerous and should be avoided like the plague. And we shouldn't even entertain signing players other clubs are trying to offload / improve on, except maybe for squad depth. It just serves to position us as a second tier club trying to get our hands on whatever little stardust that may rain down from the elites.

Does this transfer really have a leg?

Please stop playing with my heart. He’ll be a major major coup for us.
Personally, I can't see it.
Just sounds like MU spin office going into overdrive.

After the fight, we should be putting in an offer to player, agent and club TODAY.

Okay. Could you point me in the direction of where I should be reading?

I am confused who are we talking about, Tchouameni or Casemiro?

Casemiro was fantastic for Madrid, far more than just a Defensive Midfielder, he was starting a lot of counters with his passing (which is not elite, but decision making is).

Tchouameni is just a very good player defensively but I wouldn't cry if we miss out on him, other aspects of his game are fairly limited. I do like comparing him to Baleba, both defensively very good, Tchouameni maybe a better passer (although I wouldn't say it's his strength) while Balebe is much much better driving the ball forward. Tchouameni is a better player, but not for let's say 50m better player.
When I wath Tchouameni play I think he's good at what he does but I don't think there's another level to him. I would still take him, but not "at all cost" - especially since seems like there's a fair batch of midfielders that might suit us.

Tchouameni is also in his prime, Baleba is still young, its a question of if its worth the risk.

Some very weird - entirely unsubstantiated - posts above about Tchouameni based on things that aren’t even confirmed to be true anyway

True. There are pros and cons here of bringing an established DM to the team, but I have concerns over going balls deep into this one (under previous regime it's guaranteed we spend all summer chasing Tchouameni just to sign a 31yo midfielder from mid table last day of the transfer window). Baleba is something to consider in the same bracket, but he MIGHT come first day of summer. There are other things I like about him too but let's not derive the conversation here.

That would be a concern for us. The wages might be out of what we now pay players.
It’s very simple and that’s incentive based bonuses which is exactly what we should be offering to players to perform to their best level on a regular level instead of the ridiculous guaranteed contracts we’ve given out over the years which give players no incentive to perform unless they feel like it.

So what is the consensus on here? Can't be bothered to read everything. Is it that we don't want him, because he is problematic?
