Everything negative is lapped up by everyone and anything positive is dismissed as PR, where is the truth probably somewhere in the middle of it all, let's see how this pans out
Yeah offer him a figure around £275k with chance to make it up to £300k with incentivised bonuses. However do fear we are being used for him to get a new contract unfortunately. Much as I want to be proved completely wrong and Mourinho makes him available unbelievably.Where are people getting the £210k figure from, what's the source? Can't see him asking for £360k a week to stay if hes on £210k so one or both figures are bs.
So as I understand it regarding the wage structure at United, every single United player that's been signed since Ratcliffe took full control of the football operational side of the club in Feb 2024 is paid under £200k per week.. I think Matthijs de Ligt is the highest paid of those at £195k per week.
I can see this current wage structure as it stands being a problem for attracting or competing for top players, although I think some players wages will rise by 25% due to Champs League Qualification but I'm not sure how many 1st team squad players it will currently apply to, or indeed new signings.
Agree.Am I the only one who thinks people have taken this wage structure thing completely out of context. To me it’s not about getting everyone on less than 150k, it’s about having people earn their way up too 300k. You give Mateus Fernandes 250k at 21 after 2 straight relegations, everyone and their dog wants that and by his 2nd contract he wants 350k and so on.
With someone like Tchouameni who is proven at the top level you give him that money. That’s why I don’t believe the crap about them making him take a pay cut
Rashford was before Ratcliffe. However SJR signed off on new Rashford and Bruno contracts both over £300k per week so we can’t be absolutely sure about this, it’s a known fact SJR would love Harry Kane if he said yes to United, do you think he would offer him £195k per week ?
He's not better than what they already have. PSG, Bayern, they have settled midfields. I'm not sure Pavlovic is actually better, but they have no reason to invest huge money to replace him with a guy who might not be an upgrade. For PSG, he's Ugarte(he's way way better than Ugarte, to be clear). Plays sometimes in the league, maybe comes on late in matches when they need to protect a lead. He's not displacing any of their starters, they're all better than him, and they're the best in the world as they are. Again, no sense spending huge money on him. City, same thing. He's not starting over Rodri and they just spent huge money on Anderson. He might be of interest to them next year, but not this summer
Liverpool, again, he's not better than what they have, though he is different enough. I still don't see it
Arsenal, if they want to upgrade on Zubimendi I figure it would be to get someone much better in possession, not out of it
Chelsea are mentalists, but they still have Caicedo. Doesn't make sense

Completely agree, however he wants to stayHe's the only midfielder we're being linked to who would improve us so we need to go all out.

I’m not so sure I agree. We’ve tried to move on practically everyone on high wages, even more experienced players. I believe I saw an article recently that suggested we’re even trying to renew Shaws contract with a wage reduction. He’s hardly some young kid, but he did start every game last season. So how do you qualify for this higher wage bracket?
Don’t forget we’ve tried to flog Bruno, Maguire, Rashford, Casemiro over the last year or two.
You don't put a wage restriction on this guy thoughThing with Shaws wages is he's been the best paid LB in the league for probably the whole time he's been with us. He's been pretty close to the best LB in league at times but he's not going to improve and we've stood by him. We do that same thing with all the over 30s. He'll take the deal.
It does seem like we are trying to hard reset the average wage to 150k-200k with incentives to go higher and try and create a hungrier squad in line with where we actually are in real life instead of where we used to portray to be. We have also tried to cut all our major earners it's true. I guess last summer they thought Bruno would go and they might as well cash in. Nobody else was ever going to pay either party as much again. This summer not renewing Casemiro might be another big glaring mistake in the process of making cuts but they are aggressively making cuts
Our dealings in the market have been shite and cheap so far but maybe by the end of the window it'll be ok and we will have some signings that really excite the fans. There are so many good young players out there, take a few punts if you don't want to spend crazy money but this approach will only keep us in the top 4 for so long. We need to sign headline players who can handle the pressure.
They have built a transfer strategy since last summer in terms of wages, age, profile and player willingness. We now have actual football people with success in the same field/ level. Some Corporate organisation which we needed to some degree. They should never have talked about challenging for the title in x amount of years if it was just PR; they should not be briefing about top shelf players if they have no appetite or capacity to acquire them. In other words, shut up; do your business and let your actions speak for you, or certainly don’t drive a narrative that creates a rod for your own backs.
Their French (and sport) track record gives no reason whatsoever to believe in them, but still, give yourselves a chance by doing more of the right things than wrong.

None of the players like Tonali, MF, Anderson are compatible according to their current model of valuation. Given the success in last year's window, I think the club has warranted some degree of patience. But there are certain holes in this approach.
Biggest flaw with this strategy is that there is no single plan that will work in all situations, markets are highly volatile and can change. This has already been witnessed in current summer. Getting the right player at the right time is rarely possible.
If the club is not flexible, with the current plan we are going for a major title in next 10 years. We won't be able to become good in the short term if we let go of obviously superior players to rivals just because it did not fit a preconcieved set of principals.
Couple of decades back we had a simple formula. Sign a player if either he's the best in his position or seems like they have a very high ceiling. We have to start going all in for players who we are confident can be good and need to trust instinct.

Try not to take everything as gospel, this sort of statement could be designed to strengthen their financial negotating position.Uh oh Ramon Alvarez who is reliable for Real says they can rely on this guy, Valverde, Bellingham, Guler and Bernardo Silva for upcoming season. Ah well guess that means only Camavinga is up for sale and we don't want him.
In the post I mentioned that this is the approach the club will take because it worked last summer. It would look silly from their point of view to revert on their approach given it worked last summer.Having faith in the current set up/strategy sounds nice in principle but doesn’t mean we ignore the reality facing the club.
I believe that
1. We have multiple holes in the squad that require as many as 6 signings to fill - a difficult ask in any window talk less the current sellers market,
2. The earlier you sign players expected to make a difference the sooner they can make a difference ( player and squad can acclimate)
3. We’ve been beat to at least 1 of our preferred options because the market reality doesn’t fit our model.
4. Or level of readiness depends on the goal for next season, our ability to mange more fixtures, how our rivals respond to last seasons relatively poorer standards.
Yeah they would run a mile after injury historyIf Camavinga is for sale at a reasonable price you have to jump into the mix. I think he's probably too much of a risky transfer for Ineos though given the potential outlay and his past injury concerns
Agreed mate. I keep feeling I missed something.Am I the only one who thinks people have taken this wage structure thing completely out of context. I agree that Liverpool need to sign more CM but Tchouameni is DM. Liverpool already have Gravenberch as their DM.Actually I think those clubs may be very open to signing him.
Liverpool need to reinvent their CM area after the slump in form of their CMs last season.
Arsenal seemingly want to upgrade on Zubimendi and he could be a good supporting player to Rice and Eze/Odegaard.
City need a new midfield and have already lost Bernardo, are supposedly open to selling Reijnders and Kovacic, whilst Rodri's future is up in the air slightly but he will need replacing soon.
PSG maybe don't necessarily need him but with him being one of France's top CMs, I think they'll be interested. They had a bit of a frustrating time with Ruiz last season and his complete unwillingness to play if he wasn't 100%, so I think he will potentially be seen as an option for ugrade.
Doesn't sound like that to me, hope you are right thoughTry not to take everything as gospel, this sort of statement could be designed to strengthen their financial negotating position.
They knock 10M easy off the price by hinting he's not part of next seasons plans.Doesn't sound like that to me, hope you are right though
He also doesn't want to leave so feels academicThey knock 10M easy off the price by hinting he's not part of next seasons plans.
Why would we be in the mix then?If Camavinga is for sale at a reasonable price you have to jump into the mix. I think he's probably too much of a risky transfer for Ineos though given the potential outlay and his past injury concerns
He won't want to sell himI don’t get it. If he’s as good as people here think he is, why on earth would Jose - a manager who loves this kind of DM as opposed to the DLP sort - want to sell him?
For context , West ham got 85 million up front for a player relegated for the 2nd year in a row. They knock 10M easy off the price by hinting he's not part of next seasons plans.
I think so too. If he’s as great as made out, then Jose’s setup will be ideal for him and visa versa. He won't want to sell him
Not everyone can find a buyer like SpursFor context , West ham got 85 million up front for a player relegated for the 2nd year in a row.
I want to be proved wrong because alternative is gonna be Baleba not Kone or Sangare who it should beI think so too. If he’s as great as made out, then Jose’s setup will be ideal for him and visa versa.

Hope we at least enquire about CamavingaHe seems like the perfect fit for Mourinho and doesn't want to leave, plus he will cost more than a packet of crisps and two hobnobs so INEOS wont pay the £. If we dont get him it will be a tragic transfer window for us. Even Spurs have made us look like an absolute joke this transfer window. No chance we are going to compete with teams who are already better than us when they are snapping up all the quality players while we choose to buy sub standard players 4x over and offload them for cheaper instead of investing in a someone who can lock down the position for years to come.

Makes little sense. He has not developed as one might have hoped, and too often out injured. We should go for our main targets, and not after the leftovers other top clubs dont want anymore as they are not good enoughHope we at least enquire about Camavinga
He won't want to sell him. Tchouameni has been wanting an Improved contract at Real and has apparently turned down their first offer as wants more. I worry this is like the Ramos saga, both the player and real using us as a negotiating tactic.I don’t get it. If he’s as good as people here think he is, why on earth would Jose - a manager who loves this kind of DM as opposed to the DLP sort - want to sell him?
